Error Message After Ms Updates
TheTerrorist_75 replied to screi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Not so much cautious, more like curious. I have been seeing new complaints about updates crippling systems at GTG and WindowsBBS. The biggest problem is my system doesn't seem to have these problems. *Knock on wood* I didn't even need the patch for the Realtek problem even though my sound drivers are Realtek. I'm beginning to wonder if those who have the problems also have updated to IE7 and/or WMP 11 which I refuse to do. -

I'm getting ready to download that and the newest updates one at a time to see if any of them are causing more problems. -

I believe that is related to the animated cursor security flaw update. Try the following patch. Update for Windows XP (KB935448) -
Cool wheels! You will now know what freedom means. My first cars all bought when I was 16 (1970) were '66 Chevy Caprice $300 (workhorse), '66 Mustang convertible $600 (chick magnet) and a '57 Chevy $95 (drag strip mostly).

I created another account to log in. Once they got to the Ds i could log in with my *joke* account then this morning Whiskeyman worked. Kev and razor are popping up all over posting complaints. At least that will keep them busy from posting thewir ignorant nonsense at Tech Support for awhile.

No sense in logging in for awhile. It is next to impossible to get any features to work properly. Trying to do a HJT log would be next to impossible. In fact many posts there are the complaints of the inabilty to post correctly.

I had to change the URL on my homepage to the one below. I don't know if they have everyone's user accounts switched over yet. I created a new one just to check the site out. There are many bugs to be worked out. Someday that site may grow up and do away with Fusetalk. http://forums.g4tv.com/

I imagine they will sell them until support is stopped.

Wasn't the OSS originally the CIA? Fits well for Cuba.

Windows Time Sync Problems
TheTerrorist_75 replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I added nist1-ny.WiTime.net and rebooted. The time syncronized with no problem during the reboot. I got rid of the original two time servers and added the following manually to the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DateTime\Servers Create the new string values. 0 ntp.nasa.gov 1 time-a.nist.gov 2 time-b.nist.gov 3 nist1-ny.WiTime.net 4 time.twc.weather.com -
Windows Time Sync Problems
TheTerrorist_75 replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I noticed it last week on a client's computer. I just tried mine. I have even change the time server. It could be my firewall blocks it. I usually pay no attention because my time always stays dead on. The only thing I haven't checked since the DST update is my Bios time. -

I get the same on my computer plus clients. All are fully updated. -
An end for the manufacturers, but not for the consumer. The prices may go up at ebay, newegg and etc. as the end of the year approaches though. I'm thinking about buying a 3 pack of Pro and Home OEM.

The only rap I listen to is emanating from the high school kids cars as they cruise by my house. I can hear them starting from the school 5 blocks away. It all sounds like the same crap (boom, rattle, boom). I am waiting for one of them to go by and watch their rear windows explode. In my day you wanted to hear the sweet mellow roar of the new dual exhaust system and not some foolish tunes overriding it. I would be pleased to see jaws drop when I fired up my hot rod and the ensuing rumble of my well built V-8 shook the ground.

Hard Drive Recognition In Bios
TheTerrorist_75 replied to garmanma's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Put the jumper on Cable Select and plug the hard drive in at the end of the IDE cable. Go into the Bios where the drives are listed and check that it is set to auto detect the drive (If the motherboard is capable). You might also neeed to use an 80-pin IDE cable. You may want to put in a fresh Cmos battery before doing all this. -

My First Dual Boot Job
TheTerrorist_75 replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Good job. I am finally getting ready to dump my dual boot of 98SE and XP. With the cost of XP Home OEM being so low and support to continue until 2014. I see no reason for people not to upgrade from 9x/ME. I have two customers happy running XP on their 1GHz/256MB older PCs. If they are still afraid there are plenty of Win2K disks available that will run just fine on really old PCs. At least it will be more secure. As for Vista I will let that wait for a couple of service packs before installing it on any PC.
