A couple of snowstorms and a few days at or a little below freezing isn't stopping me from spring cleanup. Just finished cleaning computer.
-
Spring is here early. Upper 50s with showers. I removed all the plastic from and cleaned my windows on the inside. Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the mids 60s with intermittent sun. I'll be able to do the screens and the outside of the windows. I turned the furnace off. Screw the National Greed power company. The high winds earlier this winter broke some branches off my pear tree and knocked another tree over in my backyard. Time to get the chainsaw out and clear the yard of debris. Time to blow the dust out of your computers people.

I's rather surround myself with thousands of black eyed virgins. The terrorists would think they already accomplished their mission and would be easy to wipe out while they were choosing their 72.

My Maxtor 120gig Hard Drive Just Died
TheTerrorist_75 replied to Mainter's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Try slaving it to another setup and see if you can retrieve any files from it. If you have a Knoppix Live CD you may be able to see the drive and save any fies that way. -

Do you have another computer to test it on? If it works on a different system your Bios chip may be bad. You haven't tried to flash the Bios lately have you? -

You can get decent Hunter ceiling fans with lights for $50-85. Find someone local that can install them in place of the present ceiling light. Most handy men can do the task for $25-50 if they don't have to install a new box or wiring.

Check the cables. Look in Device Manager for errors.

Have you scanned the drive to check for errors?

Temporary Folder Broken? [Resolved]
TheTerrorist_75 replied to Matt's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
No I havent, but I will do, thanks marty. You dont think it is actually a vital folder, and criple my system if i lose it do you? it is a vital folder, that is the gateway to where your browser cache and cookies are stored using contentIE5 folder. My issue about this though, That shouldn't have an info in it since he doesn't connect to the net with it. the ContenIE5 folder doesn't store anything unless you go on the internet. The only thing on that thread, that could possibly coincide with this issue, is the Index.Dat file being messed up. Not only the index.dat but the size of the folder c -
On top of that Win98/ME does not like over 512MB of RAM. There are tweaks that can be performed which allow over 512 to be used but it isn't necessary. WinME with 512MB will run like a bear. Right bearskin?!

There are many programs that are not compatible with 64-bit yet plus there are some hardware/drivers issues. I would say it's not ready for prime time. Security in a 64-Bit World Also read; Windows XP Professional x64 Edition vs. WinXP SP2 Exploring Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
