Bart PE has Deep Burner included. If the laptop has a CD/DVD burner it should work fine.

Do you have a Knoppix Live CD? You could boot with that to see if you can access the drive. You could also use it to retrieve any files and burn them to disk. If not you could get an adapter and slave the laptop's hard drive to a desktop computer and retrieve the data that way.

It was more of an extended lopper than a saw. To properly trim branches you need to cut at an angle. I can't see that tool doing a proper job. I liked the kids idea about the air conditioner for the car window to keep the dog cool. I had to agree that leaving a dog in the car on a hot day is wrong even with AC. Looking at that though gave me an idea for a small AC unit used for cooling a computer. I'll need to find out who the kid is and contact him then let him in on that thought. He is very intelligent.

If you are using an external mouse have you tried disabling the touchpad in the bios?

I have read that the Apsire 420W micro ATX held up well in some tests. Better micro ATX power supplies are made by Fortron and Seasonic. They both have 300W units. I provided the links over to that other place.

Still a bit windy here. Temps in the mid thirties. We got an inch of that wet white stuff. The main lake effect hit north and south of us. The people next door are having work done on their house. It's not bad this morning. The temperature dropped from 65F at midnight to 40F this morning. We have 35 m.p.h. winds. Forecast is temps dropping to mid 30s with chances of snowshowers (dusting to 2") each day during the week. Possible lake effect (2-6") tonight, but mainly to the north on the Tug Hill region. This is normal spring weather here. The ground is so saturated and warm that any minor snow won't be an issue. The empty property behind me now contains a small 1/4 acre lake about 18" deep. My sump pump is running constantly.

Old thermal paste can harden over time. I usually let the PC warm up then do as gargriff stated. Being warm makes it more pliable. Some people say you only need to reapply thermal paste every 1-2 years. I reapply mine twice a year. Sometimes instead of thermal paste. thermal adhesive is used. You definitely want the PC to be warm before trying to twist off the heatsink if adhesive is used.

Minor snows showers might spring up here during the week but that's normal for the Great Lakes region. Right now the heavy rains and thunderstorms have passed through with more expected later this afternoon. I got some of my yard work done this weekend. After WinZip 9 you need to repurchase. WinZip 10 didn't really add much that couldn't be handled by a free program. My registration still works for 9 and it does what I need. I think it's been five years since I paid for WinZip.

The geese are flying back in and landing on the lake a couple blocks away. My buddies were in their blinds waiting for these pests and opened fire early this morning.
