  1. Blogger doesn't allow uploading or storing of Flash items. It is also touchy about HTML and creating your own background.
  2. I think I would disable any options to place the PC in Sleep or Hibernate mode. I was one to never use options like that. I don't even like Wake On modes.
  3. Have you tried disabling the different controllers in Device manager one at a time to narrow down where the problemic hardware is? Have you checked for IRQ conflicts? Have you tried a different keyboard or mouse to rule them out?
  4. If you set your CD drive as first boot device in the Bios nad place your WinXP CD will it attempt to install XP? If it does try a repair or over the top install.
  5. What browser? Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer
  6. I could stand some time in a hot tub right now followed by a deep massage. I decided to walk the mile and a half to the local grocery store to do my shopping. They had so many sales that I decided to load up. I bought a months worth of goods and then some. I like two for one sales. I ended up calling a cab to haul my all of it back. It took me about a half hour to put everything away except the meat. I placed that in the bottom of the fridge so I can wrap it for the freezer tomorrow. I was just getting ready to sit down and give my legs a rest when I realized I forgot a few items. I took off o
  7. Install your XP Pro with SP1 then install your motherboard, graphics, modem or Ethernet drivers. Once that is done install SP2. If you use the disk it will be faster. After SP2 is instlled get the rest of the updates then install your anti-virus program. Of course if were me I would slipstream SP2 to your XP Pro SP1 disk. Another note SP2 contains all of the SP1 updates.
  8. Thought. Can I place my webpage setup in Blogger? Will it accept my HTML or is Google stringent on what is displayed?
  9. Far out! It looks great. I did check out gtg. I am seriously thinking of using them. I need to find out about paying. I don't have a credit card, just debit/checking account. Thanks!!!
  10. I previously checked out Weather.com. It is a nice interface but they want too much personal information. Of course I am used to using fake names and addresses when needed. Dragon already gave the link to w3schools. I have been reading through it and see it's a decent tutorial. I also downloaded HTMLKit. I have signed up for for a Google website and am on the waiting list. I am also looking at GoDaddy and 1&1 for a domain name and hosting. That crappy Geocities site I started using 5 years ago will do for testing. Thanks.
  11. The date addition would be very nice. I am going to start reading and trying out those editors. Thanks.
  12. I'm using notepad. I think I have the metapad executable someplace. I can't stand Geocities/Yahoo. I should probably look into a good editor but I have limited funds. Disability doesn't pay much. I am looking for another host site that doesn't place ads. A digital clock would be cool, thanks. Eventually I want to create some web pages for activities I am involved with, such as my NASCAR race club and family genealogy. Would Nvu work?
  13. If you right click on Avast's vrdb you will see an option to merge it with the main Avast icon.
  14. I don't like the weather deal either. That's some Yahoo crap that I tested to see how it works. I am trying to find a decent clock for free that does as you suggest. How's the changes so far? This is my first time using HTML or any other web design coding. How do you do CSS?
  15. On the backup side of my UPS I plug in the tower, monitor and DSL modem, phone line plus a small digital clock. My printer, scanner and stereo are plugged into a separate surge protector on another circuit that I can easily reach from my chair to switch off.
  16. How many icons do you have near the clock? Sometimes if you allow many programs to load at startup they compete for space by the clock. The last loading startup programs may not appear. I always set my volume to maximum then uncheck the box so the icon isn't on the taskbar. The only program that I allow to load near the clock is my anti-virus. Any other programs I create a shortcut to and place them in the Quick Launch toolbar on the taskbar.
  17. You don't need a host. You make it & store it on your own computer. HTML does not need a host on the internet. Just a file on your computer. That's what I was doing when I first built it.. If I have it hosted though I could add more pages for even more stuff. I eventually want to create a site for my NASCAR race club plus other things I am into. Playing with this helps me understand how to create these. Also if it's not hosted others have problems telling what works and what doesn't.
  18. You could go by this guide to give you an idea. For my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ system with 2x256MB PC2700 DDR,400W PSU, 2 hard drives, 2 CD drives, DSL modem, Canon Ink Jet printer, 3 fans and a 15" CRT monitor I use a 500VA 300W Belkin UPS. It has held up well for 5 years. I get many power outages/spikes here. http://www.apcc.com/template/size/apc/inde...FTOKEN=80528232
  19. I'm going to go with no, if there was it would be MUCH easier to locate. In this day and age with flash storage devices common place, 98 is seriously limited, can you upgrade to 2000? 98SE is not seriously limited when it comes to USB support. 98 was but can be updated to enable USB support. USB 2.0 support is a different animal but can be implemented on98SE.
  20. The idea of a start page for me is to make it my Home Page for my browsers. This gives me a handy area to click my favorite most used links instead of going to my Bookmarks.
  21. I have beed messing with HTML for the first time due to someone (Pat) wanting to know how to create a start page. I have no idea how this shows up outside my Opera and IE settings. I replaced my first crappy page created at Geocities usng Page Wizard many moons ago to see what it looked like on a hosted site. Of course there are the crappy Yahoo ads to the right when viewed in IE (I didn't try blocking with the hosts file). I know I need a different site to host this at. I use this as my Home Page. Any suggestions? I can take it because I know this is crap. My Tech Page
  22. I found one of my first start pages at Geocities made with Page Wizard. I decided to see if I could input my homemade start page into it. Here are the results. I need to find a different free host though I can't stand the Yahoo ads at the right. Of course they don't show in Opera. My Tech Page
  23. This is one of my favorite sites dealing with USB. See if you can get any tips there. USBMan - USB & USB 2.0 Help and Information / Windows98 SE USB Guide
