  1. That's listed above in his post. Complaining to a ISP in China with only get a behind the scene smirk from those owning it.
  2. Well Central Park ended up with 26.9". We're getting hit with a small band of Lake Effect right now. Maybe a minor accumulation of up to 10". 18 more weeks until we can say winter is officially over.
  3. I think Kyle Busch is going to have a sore bottom after MM gets done spanking him. hehehehehe D.E. Jr. looks like he's back to form and enjoying racing again. Dale Jarrett still has it. Tony didn't do bad for having sore ribs. Look for Earnhardt, Stewart, Martin and Jarrett dueling for the 500 win next Sunday. Waltrip may be with them.
  4. Download.com is heavily used which could account for slow downloads. Why would you download an anti-virus program through them?
  5. What are you downloading from? Your router firewall restriction could be too high or the site you are downloading from may be the reason. Is it *cough* P2P or torrents?
  6. Many burners work better using PIO than they do DMA. That is why I keep stating that the drive needs to have DMA unchecked or the drive will either not be recognized or function properly. It can very well be why your drive isn't working. As you can now see Sony verified it. Follow the directions and try the drive.
  7. We run out of room when 70"+ drops in a week. This will be the first winter in a long time that we haven't exceeded 200"+. We have only received about 74" so far this winter, but July isn't here yet.
  8. I don't know how your log became so disorganized but this should make it easier for the experts to read. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 10:08:59 AM, on 2/12/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Progr
  9. 23" in Central Park. Take that NYC. Last time I saw a major snowstorm in NYC was when I worked in Brooklyn and lived on Staten Island in the mid 80's. The big city citizens didn't know how to handle it. It was just like being home for me.
  10. Q has started. Time for me to finish my fantasy picks for the season.
  11. If you are not careful with CCleaner it can cripple your registry.
  12. I am not one of the qualified HJT experts. One of them will check your log and help you after they have studied it. Be patient until someone checks it. No sense in formatting your drive if it isn't necessary.
  13. It's about time someone else got slammed with all that nasty white stuff instead of us around the Great Lakes.
  14. It is difficult to remove. You will need to post a Hijack This log to aid in removing it. Download HJT from here: http://www.besttechie.net/tools/HijackThis.exe Post the log in here: http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php?showforum=6
  15. Tweaking Windows will only gain a minor increase of available memory. If you need more memory physically add it. What do you need to gain more memory for?
  16. Many of the third party theme programs will screw up Windows royally. Just switch to performance settings using the Win2K theme.
  17. I think you misread the DMA statement. You need to uncheck the DMA box. Some burners do not work with DMA enabled.
  18. I just noticed Win2k and XP are different. Sony suggests disabling DMA for those burners. I don't know why. Toward the bottom you can see that some drives will not be detected if DMA is enabled. How do I enable DMA mode on CD and DVD burner drives?
  19. Copy driver.cab from the I386 folder on the CD to the C:\Windows\Driver_Cache\I386 folder. Extracting Files from the Operating System CD
  20. If DMA is enabled it can cause burning problems. When you right clicked on each drive then Properties look under the Settings tab for DMA.
  21. You would probably have to update the driver from the eVGA site.
  22. If the DVD drives are on the same cable set them to Cable Select instead of Master/Slave. Also make sure you go into Device Manager and right click on each drive, click the Properties Button and uncheck DMA mode.
  23. The best I have ever gone on a fresh install of Win98SE without any major issues is 18 months. A couple of VxD BSODs are minor and don't give me concern. Tell the messy one to clean his hard drive up or get a slave drive for storage. Never mind letting him mess up your setup.
