Yea! I'm glad the Garage Sale is up and running and itching to give away (free) an old 64 gigawatt memory stickthing for a Gateway Computer--HOPEFULLY I have the info right, it is off Gateway's Site. 64-MB 100Mhz 64 Bit 4-Clock CL=2 SDRAM UNBUFFERED DIMM (PART # 5000238) If I don't have the info right, let me know, I used Gateway's site to get this information, right here! Kept in a plastic "case" and in a padded envelope ever since we replaced it with a bigger chunk of memory, should be dust free. PM me your address and I'm happy to send it to you (do I have to package it any particular

Awww, Pat... Take your Norton dilemma to the PC support here, too! You know the very best experts live here Sure hope you don't have to reinstall, but if you do, you can do it! I did with the Possessed Gateway and if this noob can do it, anyone can (although I had a tremendous amount of help from all the experts here, Blessing you folks every time the PG is turned on) And Bozodog, you can do this! And you feel free to throw tantrums and rant all you want, young lady (Moderators, take note and give her a break if she gets sassy!). We'll listen and support you every step of the way. I'm

I'm like Tictoc, guess I have been lucky. Have a surge protector but the cost of the UPS just seemed ridiculous. Well, I now know a good gift to buy for kid's birthdays or Christmas. (You should have posted this before Christmas, Pete! Hubby and I give eachother "gifts for the house") This did remind me of a funny story. When I bought the Possessed Gateway, I asked the salesman (there were Gateway stores then), "what happens when the power goes out?" He said, "Don't worry about it" I asked my techy nephew and my geeky former neighbor who both said, "Don't worry about it" 2 weeks later, t

Aw, Medab *hug* Even the happiest married couples drive eachother crazy sometimes Jokes like this one make us humans in relationships of all kinds smile and say, "yeah, I've occasionally 'been there thought that'...." And lets us know we aren't the only ones with a special person who sometimes drives us batty. Laughing at the quirks that drive us insane is a lot healthier than the alternative--and yes, I've said "the woman's prayer" while stepping away from the rolling pin Liz

92??? Aw, Sultan, you're making me jealous, sandstorm or not! I just finished shovelling a foot of snow. Yup, one foot fell overnight. Liz

Wait, I'm confused (I know, I know...again...), is PBSYou a different channel/network than PBS? We get PBS but never heard of PBSYou. Liz

A double for Bozodog, please, barkeep! I'm so proud of you. You can do this! Liz

And we're Back! Started snowing around 6pm, now at 10:39pm we have 3-4 inches of the whitestuff, expected to get "up to 8 inches" before morning...Well, at least my garden won't be calling me out to play anymore. OK, it's now an hour later and it looks like we have about 8 inches on the picnic table....stop, darn it, stop already! liz

131 that early in the morning? Wow! That's great! (not me, still sleeping! ) Liz

OK, boys, settle down *hugs* You're both right--giving jd lots and lots of choices to choose from will help him decide what will be the best gadgets for his new toy and Terrorist reminding us of his budget is will keep everyone and jd down to earth. You all are giving jd lots of great advice Now, XP Home, XP Pro, XP Media Center??? Daughter got XP Media Center on her new idiot box and from what I can see so far, listening to music, watching movies, playing games, all that can be done on Home with Windows Media Player, too, so I'm thinking "why get add-ons that can break?" I did send her

Thanks for the feedback, Shanenin and Robroy (and thanks for letting me hijack your thread, Shanenin ) Now to wait for the family to fight over the one internet connected idiot box and get IE installed....I figure as long as PG isn't online, this reinstall will stay squeaky clean (so far so good) Liz

Not sure if this is will work or not, it's "supposed" to be the full version--I emailed myself this link after I reformatted the Possessed Gateway and I haven't gotten around to getting it online yet. http://www.petri.co.il/download_the_full_ie_package.htm And this one, too http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en *ahem* Please let me know if either of these is the full version of ie6?? Probably A Stupid Question Regarding Ie
blim replied to modernrocko's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
LOL, DD, nope, my "biological" son does that, but Modern Rocko would in an instant if I asked him He's one of my kids who would do anything for me, especially if I feed him, and I love that, he makes me feel like I'm a good cook! And he "plays rough" with my dog, oh boy, does she love that (I'm amazed he has all ten fingers) Liz -
Probably A Stupid Question Regarding Ie
blim replied to modernrocko's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I think I know you, ModernRocko Welcome to BT's! About time you signed up here (this guy's really techy, folks!). Check out the rest of the forum, there's some hilarious jokes in the comedy club today, and check in at the house, it's been too long (my guitar, Sandydog and I miss you!) *bighugs* Mom Yup, he's one of my favorite adopted kids... Prison...i think LOL! I've always said she was a fraud, but I would just love to sit down and have coffee with her....and Judge Judy Liz

Hi JD and Welcome to Besttechies! You sure picked the right place to ask your question! Now, my daughter just bought a new idiot box for college and even though I was inquiring about a lower end computer than what you're looking for, the consensus was to go with either a Dell or an HP (I threatened bodily harm to anyone who would suggest building one from scratch!). She ended up with a Dell and got 256 gigawatts ram 80 gigawatt Hard Drive Pentium 4..something I didn't write down the number... Free Flat Panel Monitor (which really wasn't important to her, a regular monitor would have suited

Ah, makes me proud that my kids bellyache about me being "electric amish" (oh, especially when Son asked me to silence his cellphone yesterday...huh?). I've always considered it a compliment when their friends say my "dinners remind them of their Grandmother's". Hoping my kids never forget the wonderful smell of line dried sheets. Hope they carry on a few of the old fashioned traditions Made me smile, Marty, thanks! Liz

And I've got to give a "shout out" to SpywareBlaster! I've grown to love that program! I'm really lax with that stuff and Son's been really busy (he's my tinkerer, running the cootiescans satisfies him without breaking the idiot box!). We went a couple months without running any scans and we ended up with exactly 4 tracking cookies. I credit SpywareBlaster for keeping the cooties off this idiot box. Liz

Gamefreak, what happens when he tries to connect to the internet? Does he get an error message? Does he get an "I'm sorry, IE has encountered some trouble and needs a to shut down and take a happy nappy" box? Does IE open properly but he get a "this page cannot be displayed due to who knows what" page? Does nothing happen? Can he remember the "last thing he did" before he lost his internet? When I fatally broke IE on my PossessedGateway, the last thing we did was fix about a 150 cooties with Spybot. Ended up reformatting it (it was buggy since day one, so it was needed anyways, this was j

I played with it, and it does list "second degree", etc, but you are right about that Bozodog. One of the kids friends ended up being "listed" because he "made woopie" with his underaged long time girlfriend and her father reported him. Kinda creepy, though, half a dozen "hits" in lil ol Montague (one listing has two offenders living at the same address...hmmm) Liz

Happy Birthday Sin and Shanenin! Hope you both have a terrific day! Liz
