I would NEVER disregard any advice from you, Sethook! Thank you! By the way, that is a great link. Hope you don't mind, I'm going to post that on the 'on the web' section here. Liz

Digging up an oldie to post some results! Daughter has Word on her new idiot box. Unbeknowenst to me, her boyfriend's parents bought MSOffice for Students and Teachers when they got their idiot box, which is licensed for 3 computers. One copy went to them, one copy went to Boyfriend's new computer and they gave the remaining copy to Kate! Sooo, those kids had it all figured out without me! I did give her the info on Open Office, she was already familiar with it and guess what? She likes that, too! She didn't install it yet (as far as I know, anyways) but for future machines, I'm betting

*rant* Tonight Hubby announced, "there is NOTHING on television to watch" and tossed me the remote. Heh, heh, heh, nuh-uh--figure skating was on. Much to my surprise he didn't bellyache when I flashed a wicked grin and turned the channel to ABC's coverage of the National Championships. I was totally shocked! I mean completely flabbergasted! My Hubby actually agreeing to watch figure skating?? So for the first HOUR, what did they show? Recaps, interviews, sap stories and NO skating! Seeing as it was a rare moment having control of the remote, I couldn't give it back to him, could I? Noo

OK, a dumb question....jsbowen's link recommended using "magnetic tapes"--are those cassette tapes? And sending Terrorist's first link to my kids! They're always laughing at me when I am so careful to touch CDs only by the edges. They say, "they aren't vinyl records, Mommmmm" HA! Momma wins! (heeheehee, it's soooo much fun to be right about something techy, then to rub it in their faces. Yeah, I'm just a little evil..What parent isn't? ) Thank you! Liz

I heard about this on the news! How awful! Here a creature that is totally dependent on their "human pet's" food supply and ends up sick. I did read in the newspaper that Diamond dog food is mostly sold in "Farm Supply Stores", and usually not in grocery stores, but I did check Sandydog's gums when I heard of this (they're healthy pink, phew!) Symptoms include white/pale gums, lethargic behavior (Ok, with a Lab, I know, how could you tell? they're always lethargic) and lack of appetite (which again, with a Lab, that NEVER happens) Hoping that every BT members "forever 4 year old child" is sp

Oh, reminding me of the Children's Sermons during church, the one time where every adult was listening as we never knew what those kids were going to come up with. "Thou shalt not kill" Good one, Barb! Liz

This is really interesting! Now, in Michigan, being surrounded by the "puddles", our weather has ALWAYS been unpredictable. I've seen 60 degrees in December (Christmas, 1984), thundersnow (yes, it exists), wearing winter coats to watch fireworks on July 4th, 5 week summers, one day Autumns (2005!), you name it. I've never given any big changes in weather patterns a thought till I read this thread. Keep posting your observations, as us West Michigan folks are no help! You Canadians haven't had snow yet???? Unbelievable! Liz

Hmmm, maybe... Liz

Me too, me too, me too!! This is the best place on the net. I don't have an account at G4 but occasionally read the Tech Support Forum. You "Old Timers" are to be commended. I sure appreciate reading your posts when I do browse through G4 and appreciate your dedication, but I sure am glad you're members here, too. I need a Village, OK, I need a Metropolis. What's the Dungeon? Anyone know whatever happened to Carolem from the "old days"? She was "good people". Anyone know how to contact her to join at BT's? Or has she joined here? *waves at Marty*, so happy to see you posting and hope yo

Oooph, grunt, ow, pull this thread up to the first page again...(ever thought about making the cafe and the bar a sticky? hint, hint) What a week. 3pm Tuesday I realised that I hadn't taken time to eat since supper on Sunday! Daughter is finally somewhat officially settled in at Grand Valley State University (another Laker, Wayne!). Registered for classes, bought the books, moved into the apartment, cleaned the Godawful mess left behind at my house, delivered and set up her new computer (well, her Boyfriend and Son set it up, my nagging and pestering got me evicted from her bedroom to vacuum

She's beautiful, iccaros. Look at those little birdy lips. Oooh, she has eyebrows already--means she'll have pretty eyes. Just make sure she grows into those booties before teaching her Linux. Welcome to the world, Rebekah! Liz
