  1. Welcome to these boards, Peter. Glad to have you here. Enjoy your time with us. This is a great place to kick back and relax in peace. Don't forget to check out the arcade too. God bless everyone.
  2. Happy Birthday. May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness and wealth. God bless everyone.
  3. I thought I should put this over here. Found info from a thread on G4 Tech Support. Here is a link to more information from ZDNet. It is a higher risk now that someone has posted the code for one hole on the internet. There is a link in the article, to check your vulnerability to the problem. Is that the same one il wiccan posted the other day? ZDNet warning on IE And Microsoft still doesn't have a fix. They should hire some security experts to fix thier bugs. Seems like they should be held liable, for their slowness to address the issues, if anyone is attacked because of the holes they were
  4. Ditto here..should we be wary of "Majorgeeks"?, ..na I don't think so. They are my primary choice of downloads. I respect the fact that they responded to this thread. Yes that really impressed me too, that they responded and kept on trying to reach Marty, even offered to help him with a HJT log. Sounds like not only is it a good site, but really caring people there. Has anyone seen Marty lately? Did he get his log read, and computer problems fixed? I hope so. Hey Marty, check back in with us and let us know what happened. We care. God bless everyone.
  5. I read that it is only good till July 31st, then they may start selling it. I wonder if it will be a pain in the neck to uninstall if you decide to not buy it? And how many nagging popups will you get to buy it? If they are so keen on security for their customers, then they should have it free, as well as the coming antivirus. But I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen. Get Spybot Search and Destroy, and Adaware, etc for free. Good track records. And if you want to pay money, then donate to them. I imagine the antivirus people, like Symantec, will be doing their best to outdo whatever
  6. refund ...We do our own taxes. I trust us better than outsiders. Ha! What do you plan to do with your refund? Spend or Save? God bless everyone.
  7. It was in our Oregonian newspaper today, business section, if I remember right. Looks like he got a taste of the real world experience of Windows users. Maybe he will fix things if he gets humiliated enough. God bless everyone.
  8. Hi Marty, When you do the HJT log, wait for the HJT experts come along. They have the title Hijack This experts listed under their avatar pictures I think. Also regarding your saying that something called Alexa was displayed, well I remembered seeing something somewhere (Spybot S and D?) about it. So I Goolged it, found a Symantec entry. It is spyware, installs a toolbar and/or icon in your existing toolbars etc. Here is the Symantec article for anyone interested. Symantec article about Alexa spyware Good luck in solving your computer problems. I am sure you will be well taken care of by the e
  9. Have a very Happy Birthday both of you. May God bless you both with long life, good health, happiness, and prosperity. God bless everyone.
  10. Yes I have been seeing quite a few posts on the G4 boards that say this is a major problem. It installs all sorts of desktop icons that are impossible to remove, and takes HJT logs to weed it all out. I didn't know enough about this program to even be able to issue a warning and still don't know what it is with or without the plus. Are they both from Microsoft? If so, what on earth is Microsoft thinking of to do something so dastardly?? Or is the plus one an add on from some other company? How do you disable the original Msn thing??? Help please. Is it on all Windows systems? I have Win 2000
  11. While looking for something else, I just found this warning. XPSP2 trojan attack by Phel Be careful folks. Check for updates and stay as safe as possible. Happy New Year. God bless everyone.
  12. Thanks for the warning. It is getting hard to know who or what to trust on the internet, especially since there are spoofer/phisher sites around. I am glad your Avast was able to protect you. Have a Happy, Safe, Healthy New Year. God bless everyone.
  13. Have a Happy, Safe, Healthy, Prosperous New Year folks. Stay safe, don't drink and drive ever. I want to see everyone back on the boards, not hear you have been in an accident or worse. Drive defensively and sober. I care folks. Stay safe. P.S. TicToc, and anyone else that is sick, get well soon. Drink plenty of liquids, get lots of bedrest, take Vitamin C etc. Get well soon. God bless everyone.
  14. Happy Birthday to you both. May God bless you both with long life filled with good health, happiness and prosperity! Happy New Year to everyone and stay safe. God bless everyone.
  15. Check with your employer to see if they are doing a match for employee donations. Our paper mentioned this today. Any way to make money stretch further sounds good to me. The paper said Intel was doing this, but my hubby said he hadn't seen anything about it at work yet. P.S. That was stinking of the "other board" to lock the thread. Well I guess it is better than being removed totally, but not by much. I still couldn't even log on over there both times I tried today. I didn't even know it was back up yet. God bless everyone.
  16. Welcome to our favorite board. I hope you enjoy spending time with us. God bless everyone.
  17. I was just going to mention the bad weather down there, with all the rain that we were supposed to get here in Oregon. In fact most of the storms off the coast have either done a split to the North or the South or both, so we are in a huge deficit on the rain gauge again this year. Maybe will get some on the back swing off California storms this week. Strange weather. So after seeing the news tonight with all the flooding and mudslides in southern California, I am not surprised that G4 is having trouble along with alot of other people. Still it isn't as terrible as the Tsunami situation after
  18. I have these links in my "someday" network folder in favorites. Maybe they will give you some answers and ideas. How to use your network Practically networked DIY homenetworking tutorials etc. God bless everyone.
  19. I just found a thread on G4 Tech Support, that may have an answer for you. Several possibilities were given, but the original poster found his answer in Nvidia's options. If you have Nvidia then maybe this will solve your problem. Or some of the other suggestions in the thread. I hope so. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year to you and yours. Possible off screen window solution God bless everyone.
  20. I am sorry that you are having computer problems. I sure hope whatever you do to fix it, works out with minimal problems. Good luck. In spite of all that, I hope you are having a really good Christmas, and will have a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year. P.S. I just did a Clusty search for the reboot loop problem, maybe there is an answer in the results. Clusty search results God bless everyone.
  21. Merry Christmas to all. God bless everyone.
  22. I am bumping this up for anyone who enjoys decorating without the mess. Ha! By the way echobay, I love "The Little Drummer Boy", one of the top three of my favorite Christmas songs. Merry Christmas to all. God bless everyone.
  23. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night...oops! Got carried away there. Tis the season to remember all the traditional stories and carols. We all get to be kids again in the Christmas season. God bless everyone.
  24. Merry Christmas To All. God bless everyone.
  25. Thanks for the warning. So, if I read this correctly, there is no harm to the computers of those going to those bulletin boards, except the defacement replacememt text? Then it is just doing a denial of service type thing to them? Or is there a backdoor element too? I am so fed up with the people who design these things!!!! Norton has info and protection for this in their updates today. Symantec Securitiy Response List Check often for updates and stay safe folks. God bless everyone.
