  1. Wow man,....this sucks! As with everyone, don't quit until you have something else lined up. We surely don't want to see you in a worse situation because you acted rashly/prematurely, even tho none of us would fault you for it, but you've got a family to think about here my friend. We've all been in a similar situation at one time or another in our lives, so we relate to what you're going thru, and you know that this community will stand behind you 110%, whatever happens. Keep your cool for now, stay level-headed, and decide where you want to be in the next year, and then work towards that. I'
  2. Teasing....really?? I thought I was gonna get my ass kicked there for awhile.....whewww, glad you cleared that up. Hiya Shadow and luvIPA, glad to see you made it back!
  3. Sorry TK old friend, I just got to this today... Terrible tradgedy and my heartfelt condolences go out to you & yours. I had an accident very similar to this when I was 17, out snowmobiling in the dark, unknown area, and fast machines. I ended up stopping with a wire not 5" from my throat after it smashed the windscreen....I saw it just before this and was lucky enough to get stopped in time. My buddy saw what was happening but wasn't able to stop in time, fortunately...he ducked.
  4. Heh...don't get me started, we'll be here all day and I'll just get all depressed again. Lets just say, I haven't been able to work for 4 months now, and I'm tired of not getting to sleep and basically passing out from exhaustion 3 days later. 20 to 24 pills a day on average, just to control the pain and my diabetes. I'm sick of it all right now, when does God say "OK, he's had enough already, let him rest (in peace)". Pierce My nephew has contact dermatitis also, nasty problem that one. He takes a special cream for it that seems to help allot, I'll find out what it is and let you know. You've
  5. I'ld have to agree with the "Teach her" folks here If she's willing to listen and let you try, bring her here and we'll justify your methods, and then you can teach her what she needs to know. At least this way you'll find out if she's just "lashing out" in fear of the unknown, or one of those kinda people who don't appreciate good help, and want to sue yer butt. I wouldn't worry about this either if she's the second kind of person, she wouldn't get past the front door of any good lawyer on this one.

  8. Exactly tman! I didn't expect to raise eyebrows with that thing about rules...heheh...just was going to clarify what our community expects from new members was all. I wouldn't change this place one bit (except Mac's experiments that keep blowing the fuse box...), don't know why anyone would think I would.
  9. OOps Me thinks you misunderstand what I meant there....about rules and Professionalism kinda stuff This is kinda what I had in mind... Rules: Edit(never mind...Jeff made changes that I forgot were there....been away too long) we have none now, "Play nice" is a good rule, but I just wanted to clarify about swearing, trolling, and nudie pix...we don't want the place going G4'ish now do we...?? Profeshinalismss (grrr....spelink sux): In our Tech Help and Tutorials type stuff....just so we can remind folks that we DO actually do that stuff, and we're good at it too! I'm not about to enforce dress
  10. WELCOME HOME!! Isn't it great to have our home back up, and have everyone start to come back! I think this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and all you wonderful people make it this way. A huge THANK YOU to all of our members who make this place, the BEST & FRIENDLIEST forum on the WWW!!! Also, huge thanx must go to Macmarauder for our temp home, from the bottoms of our hearts....Thank You Mac! Now its time for me to get back to work, and get some things I've promised to do...done. I'll have some new Tutorials out soon so keep watch. I've promised the Mods that I'll add screensh
  11. Yes its SUPER to have the site back again!! Glad to see that lots of folks are finding their way back in, and I'm sure Jeff has sent a mass mailer out to all the membership, since it looks like the database was intact. Good to see y'all here, and WELCOME HOME!!!!
  12. ?????? What do you mean here, the old drive you're putting into the machine needs to be jumpered as Slave and on the middle connection of the IDE cable for this to work. All drives can be either a Master or a Slave, so if you meant to say that its currently configured as Master, it needs to be jumpered so its a slave.
  13. No prob, glad to have eased your mind at least. Like I said tho, it was probably just a corruption from the improper shutdown that caused this.
  14. This would point to a hardware issue usually, but in this case I suspect a driver issue.... here is the page on t-shooting a 0x0A stop code. MSKB Scroll to the After XP is installed section, and try those suggestions.
  15. As said above, warm moist cloth...and you can use a soft soap if you wish. No harsh cleaners and nothing with abrasives...ever. I find a little regular hand soap suds (Dove) works very well to remove any greasy film and smoke residues, but rub gently.
  16. You said "browsers" as in plural, does this happen when you use different browsers, and which ones are you using? What do you get in their place, just the red X placeholder?
  17. Nothing?? In the recycle bin properties, check the box for confirmation of move to bin. What is the bin size set at? Try making a new folder on the desktop, and then delete it....doesn't it go to the bin??
  18. "Gentlemans Club".....uhhh...LOL!! Not many "Gentlemen" in those places usually, and if there are, they don't usually stay that way for long... BD C'mon gal, you're being too hard on JG. When that team is having a tough year, it's Jeff's fault and he's whining, but when Jr has the same type of year, you're all sympathetic an stuff....what gives?? ;) JG drives at 110% all the time, they just can't keep the car balanced it seems. He'll qualify at or near the top, but the car seems to fall off quickly this year and they lose the handle on it. Same thing is happening to Jr, both those teams seem

Hi Marty Thanx for the heads-up. I haven't been to G4 since just after the "incident", so I didn't send Marsh any PM's recently, but I'll email him right away here and talk to him. Sounds like he'll be in Edmonton for the conference as well, so I definately have to go too, and I'll pick up rv56 along the way. We'll have a blast I'm sure, and I'm REALLY looking forward to meeting you guys!!! Make sure to keep me posted on the dates and stuff so I can start to make plans for the time off. RV56 said he'ld be glad to come also, so he's going to need the times and dates as well.

    Homecoming

W00T!!!! Didn't you get her phone ##?? If not, she will be thoroughly impressed if you take the time and effort to "Hunt" her down (not stalking type of hunt...), it shows you're truly interested. Second meetings are sometimes awkward, as you don't have the "dance" atmosphere to break the ice, so make sure to just act naturally and don't be all clingy....just yet anyway. Show her that you're just a confident young man, and the rest will fall into place if she's interested in you. Good job Ampshock!! Sounds like you had a great time, and maybe just met your future Mrs. Ampshock...
  21. In XP, there is a set limit to how many times you can access a folder and have the views stay as you had them set, after that it reverts to the default view. I didn't know if this extended from W2K or not, but it now seems so, and the fix is rather simple. Go to Kelly's Korner, click on the "F" on top, scroll down to "Folder Views - Keep Settings", and apply the Increase fix. This should work with W2K as well, the reg settings in this area are the same as XP.
  22. I have had a couple of installs where the activation nag popped up on a bootup more than once, and the copy had previously been activated. Nothing about the hardware changes being the reason tho, just that the activation check must have been corrupted somehow, and it asked to activate the copy. This happened a few times to me on at least 2 installs, but I never found out why it was doing that. All I can think of here, is that your hardware hash in the activation file must have been corrupted somehow on the shutdown, and the verification check on bootup caught it.
  23. Hi Darlene What a race eh...I'm glad Mark won it, I've always liked Mark and his low-key style. Have you heard that he's postponed his retirement on Jack's request? Jack didn't have a driver for the car for next year so Mark is going to be back in the seat for most of the year. This "Race for the Championship" format is really cool, I LOVE it! It's brought back a real excitement for the last part of the season hasn't it. This way, its most likely not decided until the very last race, and thats the way it should be. Last year's chase was right to the wire, and everyone was on the edge of their
