  2. Hi everyone! Well...I've decided that I'm just way too far behind in life and can't possibly keep up with things here any more, so I'm quiting. That's right.....I'M QUITING POSTING HERE!!!! I've had enough of this and it's just too much for me to keep doing this, so I'm going to pack it in and call it quits. Sorry to all those people I've come to know and love over the years, who look forward to my posts, but I just have to do it this way, I have no other options. I've been doing this for years but lately it seems that I just can't keep up with it anymore, so it's time to call it a day and mov
  3. Yah..this post is A-OK! We all know Brandon very well and know that this isn't commercial spamming, and definately is a very useful informative site it seems. Anyone who takes the time to seriously fight the excessive malware out there thru site like these, deserve to be recognized and helped as much as possible, so this post stays open.

    Computer Protection

Hi Marty The most common reason hackers try to find a vulnerable computer is NOT to steal your info or things like that, it's to silently take control of it so that it can be used in a DDOS (Dedicated Denial Of Service) attack on someone's web site or servers. Hackers will scan literally millions of machines to find any that are open and useable for this purpose, and can scan huge blocks of IP's at a time, looking for open machines. I myself, have a scanner that can do all this but I use mine for "White Hat" purposes and not for the dark side of things. Hackers will attempt to gain access to a

    Virus Outbreak

ANYTHING that says you have to send this to all your friends immediately so they don't get infected, is a HOAX!!! Social Engineering at it's worst, and should NEVER be forwarded on because that's EXACTLY what it's designed to make you do, and by doing so you're only proving that this crap works....
  7. After reviewing the original question, we've decided that the OP is NOT asking for help with an illegal action, and this post can continue. The OP has 2 legit XP keys and only 1 XP CD, and is asking if it's possible to use this CD to reinstall on his other machine, and use that key to activate it again.
  8. Glad to hear (bad pun intended) that your hearing has returned bud! Although losing your vision would be the scariest thing I could imagine, losing your hearing is right up there. I went completely deaf for awhile there back in the early 90's, but mine was due to a bad marriage, and cleared up completely after I left her...

  10. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOVI!!! Hope you have Many...Many more Pat! Have a GREAT DAY!
  11. LOL!!!! Haha...I know you can't, but you do it without even realizing you do...that's bad! I hope you haven't poisoned your "Sweet Brit" into thinking the same way you do...I'll bet he's a "closet" Jeff Gordon fan Well, I can't wait to see how this season plays out. I think it's going to be a real battle for the cup with all these young guns already winning races, and the veterans will have their hands full (and rearview mirrors too) trying to stay ahead of these teams. It promises to be a record year for NASCAR and with Toyota coming next year, it's going to change forever. Soon we'll see
  12. "Jeff Gordon is a whinny has been... Even the oldsters have one or two over him." Uhh...there LOL! If Jeff is a "has been", I sure would like to be that kind of has been when I grow up! He still wins races and he WILL win another championship before he's thru, but the competition is so much closer now than it used to be, that it is getting harder to dominate like he used to. I don't think we'll ever see another driver dominate a season the way it used to be, like when Jeff won 13 races one year, or Richard Petty or Dale Earnhardt dominated like they did. I didn't know that about RH, very inte
  13. May I ask...what did you do? Just curious as to what you mean when you say "I took care of the problem"...there wasn't any real "problem" to start with.
  14. Thats not a log, and the way it reads is the proper way for that type of web site. What happens is that your browser checks the hosts file every time you try to access a web page, and if it finds an entry in there for that web site, it follows the addressing thats contained in the hosts file. 127.0.0.1 is basically YOUR computer, so anytime your browser tries to access a site thats listed in your hosts file with that 127.0.0.1 loopback IP address, you'll be denied access to that site. This is done on purpose to protect you from those nasty sites that are known to silently install unwanted soft
  15. Hey Ed I would bet that T-bird has changed a setting somewhere thats causing this in OE. I'll research some and get back if I find anything.
  16. Here's the fix for this Your error message fix Basically, you have a corrupt file and it needs to be replaced.
  17. Jeez Darlene....don't be a "Hater".. They were punished, and fairly harshly at that too. The car as it won the race, was perfectly legal and they're not the only ones who have gotten caught trying to "bend" the rules either. MANY teams, (in fact almost all of them), have been caught trying to expand on the limits of the rules at one time or another, so this is nothing new at all. It's happened many times in the past and will happen many times in the future, and by every team out there...that's all a part of racing. In fact, many of the changes allowed over the years have come from ideas that s
  18. Good thing MS has no expenses related to programming, research, support, employees, real estate, taxes, etc. or else it would cost even more than two bucks. Yah....like $2.75 maybe... It must cost close to a billion dollars to create, engineer, test, re-engineer, re-test, re-re-engineer, re-re-test, market, and produce an Operating System in today's coporate environment. Think of the 1000's of employees and the 1000's of hours each one puts into making these OS's available, not to mention all the related costs of doing business, and you'll understand why XP costs almost $200 when first release
  19. Right click the folder and select Properties, then the Sharing tab. Put a check in the "Make this folder private" box. If you currently have a password for your user account present, the password will automatically be set to that password, if you don't then it will ask you to setup a password.
  20. I thought it was a "FREE" 180 day trial.... Anyway, there probably will be some notification that "The End is Near" and an offer to purchase it by contacting MS, but failing to do that by the offer's end date will probably just end up with a non-bootable machine.
  21. Since its a full stick it's not recognizing, I would run a memory check program on this to make sure you don't have a bad stick. Or you could just try pulling a stick out and try booting up each stick seperately to see if it fails to boot with one or the other stick. MemTest86
  22. I stopped my subscription to Maxim because of the way they treated their subscribers also. When it first started coming out it was a very funny mag and I really enjoyed it, so I subscribed for a yearly thing. But I noticed that the magazine when being sold off the shelf, contained extra items like calanders and other neat stuff that I wasn't getting. So I called Maxim and asked why I wasn't getting all these "Extra's" that people who bought them off the shelf were getting, and they told me I had to PAY if I wanted to get these items... That really ticked me off, I mean...the subscribers are th
  23. You really shouldn't notice much difference the RAM the onboard video uses, but with the cheap prices on RAM these days, 2G....why not eh I doubt you'll need to go to 2G, but it's up to you and whatever you can afford I guess.
