  1. Another amazing thing... Give a young boy a toy airplane, and even if he's NEVER, ever seen one before, he instinctively "flies" it in the air. Same with a toy car, they'll instantly drive it around. Girls's....give them a toy doll and even if they've NEVER seen a baby yet, they'll instinctively start to "Mother" it. One thing they both do tho...when they're tired of the doll or the plane...they'll throw it away, literally....phwoom...off it goes.
  2. This is Macmarauder's alter-ego account, not the Real Google.com. Mac uses this one when his regular persona is busy in his basement, with all his scary evil electronic monkeys, making attempts to create new and malleable life forms so he can accomplish his World Domination dreams....
  3. HEY!!!!.......TK... Didn't I throw you out on your can awhile back...?? You look familiar...yah...I'm positive it was YOU that I turfed outta here for bothering our Ladies and stealing all the Canadian Club whiskey!! Get outta here ya Canuck BUM!!! We don't need your type round these parts...g'wan, git out! Heheh-heh...gotcha!
  4. Yah, seals also expand and contract with the weather, and just looking at a seal can never tell if it's good or not....unless there's a huge chunk taken out that is..heheh. If it sounds like it's coming thru the vents, or possibly under the passenger side dash section, it could be a small gap in the heater/firewall seal also. Open Chat is just fine for this type of stuff fubz, no prob! We'll help our members with ANY problem they may have...INCLUDING Erectile Dysfunction!!
  5. Marsh hasn't been here at BT's for some time also.... I know he's still posting at G4 and I get an email from him now and then, but he hasn't been coming in here regularily for awhile now...I wonder why.
  6. Micron is sampling their new 1G DDR3 with 78nm technology now, and expects 2G sticks of DDR3 to ship in early 2007. The clock can range from 400MHz to 800MHz, with data rates of 800 MT/s to 1600 MT/s, (MT/s = MegaTransfers per second) That will transfer a 100,000 page document in 1 second...and by dropping the voltage to 1.5V there is a 30% power savings Fully JEDEC compliant and densities will range from 512 to 4G, but no mention of what the costs are going to be yet, just that they're ready to hit the market. This should mean that MoBo makers are going to start production of boards to suppo
  7. You're right shanenin, I misread what was going where I guess. Still, less problems doing a clean install and transfer probably. It would work if he coned it also since the hardware isn't changing on the emachines OS, just the drive it's on.
  8. For everyone who misses his "Naughty Elvish" little avatar, and his "Old #7"...here it is for you
  9. LOL!! Good....I'm not the ONLY one then eh.. I have excellent vision too (20/16 now, and I was 20/10 most of my life), so if I have trouble reading those things sometimes, you KNOW they're tough to read period... It's some "Pay-per-Click" kinda deal with Commercial spammers, so they saturate everything that's popular and hope some idiots are unwary enough to go click some of their links. It's most likely $0.02 to $0.05 per click so to make any money they have to get some serious spamming done.
  10. Thats your address (http://192.168.1.1) to access the setup on your Router settings, so obviously it was not correctly configured before. I read thru your posts and don't see anywhere where you mentioned you were connecting thru a router, wireless or not, so probably nobody thought of that aspect of it. All info on your connection is required for us to have any chance of figuring out a connection problem such as your's. This is also for any others who may read this...if you're having a connectivity problem, PLEASE tell us everything about how you connect!!! Also, for your future info, to delet
  11. Hi everyone. As you all know by now, our very good friend, and long time member at all our forums, (TTV, G4 and here along with others) il_wiccan, has gone missing and is presumed to have passed away sometime last October. Well, today would have been his 55th Birthday, so I would like all his friends here to quietly have a moment of silence at home, in memory of our old friend Gary. We've tried to contact Gary many times over the last year, I have emailed him along with many other friends of his, Marsh has phoned him, and Marsh has also checked all the obituaries for his area around the time h
  12. That's not a Generic icon, but it's the standard .exe icon that doesn't have a proprietary icon image in place. The only way I can see this happening is if you were playing around with an exe file and somehow changed all exe's to the standard icon, or all your icons, even for proprietary programs, are corrupt. The "Generic" icon is the one you see when Windows doesn't know what the file extension belongs to.
  13. We've had a real influx of Commercial Spammers hit us lately, and we deal with them as fast as we can find them. We really do depend on members to help us out here too, so if you see anything like that, please PM or email a Mod or Admin immediately and let us know about it. Like TT-75 said, he PM'd me about one and within 5 minutes I had it gone and the spammer banned. All members can contact any staff when they see this junk, that is very helpful to us as we can't be everywhere all the time. We have had some really insane, ugly stuff too...besides the usual spam stuff. Some idiot thought that
  14. It is. That's why this has to be People and not Bots IMO. AFAIK, nobody has made a bot that can read the image and respond correctly to it, since the fonts used are not commonly recognized. I've even had some that I couldn't read myself sometimes, and had to re-register to get to one that I could read...yeesh!
  15. Just as an "Aside" to this post, these are really only needed if you're on the very Edge of being unable to run XP with your current resources. Anyone with over 128MB RAM, or over a 1G processor, will most likely see no real increase in performance with these tweaks. So if this is you and you're thinking..."Hmmm, I did what he said and I don't see any difference", that's probably why.
  16. Well, besides the "Flash" factor of Vista, from what i've seen it's not really much more than that. Since 64 bit stuff isn't really supported well, I can wait for that part and since I don't play games I don't need the extra visuals that Vista will support either. So for me at this time, Vista will not be in the immediate future. I've been considering d'loading RC1 to see what it'll do over & above what XP Pro does for me now, I'll probably do it this week. Personally, I don't think it will be any more secure than XP SP3 will be, and I'm sure there will be the usual security issues as all
  17. I've put in a call to my Network Specialist friend and linked this to him, I'll see if I can get him in to look at this one. He's a good friend of mine that I got to join our site awhile back to try helping with major Networking issues. He was a Network Specialist for 25 years and taught labs at the University on this stuff, so he knows it well. He works mostly with Unix stuff, but he knows it all well. His handle is "Fearless".
  18. First question, no, not having a bootable OS afterwards anyways. You can always transfer data but to transfer a bootable OS is another story completely. The Hardware layer is not the same so the system will not work by cloning one OS to another system. Cloning works great for quickly backing up an OS and re-imaging it onto the boot partition to get a clean OS with settings again, but since the other system has different hardware completely, the OS will not know how to activate the new setup. There is a very complicated way to edit the HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) that I've heard "possibly"
  19. Thx for that link Sultan!! It brought tears to my eyes again when Bindi read her Daddy's memorial...she is just soooo prescious! No doubt she'll follow in her Dad's footsteps and we'll be watching her in Animal Planet Specials in years to come, I look forward to that.
  20. Use Codestuff Starter to better analyze whats-what in your startup list, and more controlled method of removal. (linked in my first post) MSCONFIG was never designed to be used as a permanent solution for startup programs, it's a troubleshooting tool that temporarily shuts down certain thing s to help diagnose boot issues. Using it for things other than what it was designed for, caused some major issues in previous OS's, I equate it to using PhotoShop to make your grocery lists.
  21. Maybe so, but I'll have mine in around 6 - 10 years, while you'll be waiting considerably longer than that for yours to arrive...!! This tech is right around the corner now that they have silicon based laser chips. That's been the big killer for some time, that they couldn't do it on silicon until they found a way to get around the "2 photon absorption" principle, which Intel has just done. jcl Thats the thing, this is done without those rare exotic (and therefore expensive) materials, and done with Silicon. This can be done now with today's manufacturing plants and materials and therefore can
  22. I just watched a very touching tribute to Steve on Animal Planet channel tonite. It was the official Memorial service done at his zoo, the Australian Zoo, and had tons of people there. All his family and friends, his zoo employees, and excerpts from people all over the world, but I broke down and cried when his daughter got up and made a speach about "her Daddy, her Hero"...she's so prescious. No doubt she will follow in her Daddy's footsteps.
  23. Honesty, fair price for fair value, teaching while selling, and going that extra mile will pay off big time in the long run. Taking time to make sure your customers actually "understand" things really helps, and they won't mind paying for any service you provide. Go that extra little bit when doing stuff for them, and customers never complain. You're giving added value for free and still paying the bills while building up an appreciative customer base. Doing those little things that every one of us appreciates when dealing with any business, and your customers leave satisfied and ready to tel
  24. DO NOT REMOVE, or alter the registry entry! You can disable this safely from your startups but use a good Startup Mgr instead of msconfig. Codestuff Starter Since nothing shows under this "load" value in the registry, nothing is being loaded by it at the moment. Removing the entry with a startup manager will most likely take care of the problem but go thru with a HijackThis log just to make sure still. The reason you get the squares is because your system doesn't recognize the font being used so it displays this as default.
  25. MORONS KILL!!! I've seen the aftermaths of too many accidents, as you know bud, and all I can say is this... Is 90 seconds out of your busy day, worth dying over??? (not you JDoors, the other morons out there) I NEVER go thru red lights, even in the dead of night when nobody is looking, I'll sit and wait it out. First off because I'm a law abiding citizen but more so because it's a terribly bad habit to start getting into. Good thing nobody was seriously injured in that one but it could easily not be the case, especially in a T-bone like this one. They are the worst kind of accidents, I've see
