  1. Hi, With that said, I can assume that this is being done for something illegal, therefore I am closing this thread unless you can prove to me that you are in fact, not going to be doing something illegal. If that is that case feel free to PM me with whatever you plan to be doing and I will reopen the thread. Until then this thread will remain closed. B
  2. ... You have NO idea how much that post scared me, until I got to the bottom. The least you could have done was save that til April Fools! Geez! Scare the living daylights out of me, why don't ya Dave! B
  3. Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you know at/around 5:30 (East Coast Time) I will be starting the BT radio show, it will run about an hour. Please tune in and enjoy! Also, if there is song you don't like playing, keep in mind you may like the next. If you would like to make suggestions, feel free to do so. I will do my best to incorporate whatever suggestions you make. I'd also like to point out, each show will have somewhat of a different playlist, so if you don't like one shows music it doesn't mean you won't like the next shows music. I have lots of music, what you will hear today is
  4. Hey, I for one leave my PC on all the time, but this debate can go both ways. I also leave it on all the time because it's less of a hassle than having to keep turning it on and off. I've also never experienced any issues with hardware from leaving it on, so I don't see why not. You should be fine with a firewall, good AV such as NOD32 or Kaspersky (My two favorites, if you're going to pay) for free I like AVG or Avast, also make sure you have anti-spyware tools installed to help keep you safe. Now as for standby mode and hibernation. I don't like using those features on desktops, I feel
  5. All done. Liz I added that thread as well. B
  6. Yeah, I got it, I'll reply in a bit. B
  7. Hi Tony and Welcome, The warn meter is only something that you and either an admin or mod can see. It will stay at 0% so long as you follow the forum rules. It's not really anything to worry about. B
  8. I hate when that happens, that's like your dog dying and your mom telling you can still keep it if you want to. sorry, I couldn't help that. I know the feeling before I met mandy I had that problem too. But trust me there are a lot of girls out there and you'll find someone. Before I met mandy I thought I never would find anyone, but I did and she's amazing. I won't get all gushy on you guys though. Just keep looking you'll find someone special. Oh and, if you need some tips, well feel free to ask me, though many people at least the people who hang out in chat will tell you not to, but
  9. Hey Everyone, I know it's been a while since I put out a podcast, but I've been thinking about doing them again and getting back into it along with something else (which you'll hear about if you listen) and also, there is a little tech in there - it's about something I watched online today thought it was quiet interesting and I decided to talk about it. It's not that long either a little over 3 minutes. Hopefully you can stand my voice for that long! Well, if you do listen I hope you enjoy it. Here's a download link: http://www.besttechie.net/podcast/podcast-2-24-06.mp3 B
  10. Well, it depends on your computers (Dell, Gateway, Compaq, HP, Home built, etc..) motherboard. Then again, if you built the machine you probably know the type of ram in it. In any case, here's some ram vendors I like: Kingston Corsair Crucial Links: http://www.kingston.com/ http://www.corsairmicro.com/ http://www.crucial.com/ Now as far as finding the right type of ram you can go to the ram manufacturs site put in your computer brand and model and it should tell you the right ram for your machine. You can also download something to tell you such as one of these: http://www.belarc.com/free_d
  11. That could be done, it would be a sub-forum though. At first I wasn't sure I liked the idea, but it seems interesting after more thought. I'll have it up as soon as I can. B
  12. That's pretty cool, I'm checking it. However, they should make it compatible all browsers. I also happen to prefer Opera over Firefox. By the way, I moved the thread to On The Web. B

  15. Hey, The only thing I can think of at the moment that would do that is something called Wake-On-LAN which could possibly be enabled in the BIOS, all you would need to do is turn that off (disable it) and it shouldn't happen any more. Btw, Wake-on-LAN is a PC computer network standard which allows a "sleeping" computer to be brought up to full power remotely, over a network. If you didn't know B
  16. Oh wow, that is scary. Hopefully it's just from the infection, I'm hoping for the best and that it goes away. Feel better soon. B

  20. That's cool. Trillian is nice I use it as well. AIM is fine too, just it seems it's getting more bloated at the least the trinitron (however it's spelt) version is mega bloated. Btw, if you click on one of those links in Trillian you can still get infected, so no matter what be careful. Glad everything is going good. Happy surfing! Tell your system to be careful when she gets IM's from friends, the same thing happened to my brothers and I had to clean up their machines too. B
  21. Looks clean! Still having any problems? How's the machine running? Please take a moment to read the following advice: The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again. Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections. AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties
