Thanks to Pierce one of our resident Windows Experts who can also code some 1337 php and mysql stuff, thought it would be better if he created a more secure 'Tell A Friend'. So I'd like to thank him for recoding it so we can have image verification and a few added security things. Make sure you type the image code because you can't copy it that will not work. Thanks again Pierce B

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Steamhead
Besttechie replied to Steamhead's topic in Open Chat
Hey its Steam!! Now everyone be nice to him and make sure you give the new guy plenty of wedgies. Also, even though Steam isn't a freshman in High School any more I still think we should show him the courtesy that he deserves which of course means he has to get stuffed in a locker a few times a day. Hmm.. just thought of this, but we don't have any lockers in the BestTechie hallways... I'll get Matt right on that, he should have them installed in no time. B -
Okay, the art forum has been created. It's called 'The Arts' and is a sub-forum of Open Chat. Depending how popular it becomes will determine if it becomes its own forum. Enjoy the forum, I'm sure I will. I love music. I am now learning to play guitar and have been working on lyrics and stuff. The Arts Forum B

What's That Thing You're Sittin' In Front Of Look Like?
Besttechie replied to Honda_Boy's topic in Open Chat
All those cards and that "book" are all things my girlfriend made for me, so I put them there so I can see them everyday when I'm at my computer. That particular "I Love You" card was from her on valentines day. B -

More Of A Website Problem
Besttechie replied to jamaicaman's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Try removing your avatar first and then adding the new one. Also, sometimes it will take a minute or two before it appears. B -
Thanks... and Welcome to BestTechie!

Hi Everyone, I've talked to Duco about this already and I think it's best if I post it here as well. I would really appreciate if the BestTechie Forums were not used as a place to 'bash' G4. BT is not associated with them nor has anything to do with them and I really don't like it when people come over and post about their G4 problems. I'm not singling out this thread as I told Duco, I've let many G4 threads go on in the past even though I made a post when the forums first opened about not having anything to do with G4 and asking that people refrain from posting about problems there. I real

Hey Guys, Sorry I took so long to get to this one, I've been really busy with school and its still not over. I have my exams this week and then I don't need to go back seeing as I don't need to be there unless I have an exam. Anyway! I do like the idea. I personally love music myself. Lets see if we can think of a cool name for this section and I'll put it up as soon as I can. B

I Really Screwed Up
Besttechie replied to just2good4u3434's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Well, this should be an easy fix if you have your XP disk. Boot to the XP disk, let it run, then choose to go into the recovery console, from the recovery console type: fixmbr then hit enter After it does that, type: fixboot then hit enter Note: it may prompt you asking are you want to do so and so, and the answer is yes. Hopefully that will fix your boot issue and allow you to boot, then you will want to reinstall Ubuntu and have it install grub, etc. If you still want it that is or decide to try it again. Btw, I had the same problem one day and that's what I did and it worked for me, howev -
Blue Screen - Not Sure What To Do - Hijack Log[INACTIVE]
Besttechie replied to Tabbydaze's topic in Malware Removal
Hey Tabbydaze, I'm sorry about the wait, it happens. Sometimes we miss things, we're only human. We don't intentionally ignore any thread on this forum, the forum is growing everyday and unfortunately it can lead to some threads being missed. Once again, I'm sorry about the wait. As Matt said above if you're still having any issues or you run into any future problems feel free to post them. B -
Hey, I found this video and I probably watched it 10 times, Each time I watch it I crack up. Check it out! B

Hey Everyone, This is sort of unplanned, but I haven't done a stream for a while and I was bored. So I'm streaming right now...so come and listen with me! I don't know how long I'll be streaming, but you're welcome to come and listen. The stream can be found here: http://besttechie.ath.cx:8000/ B

Many of the members thought that, which is why we removed those sections. B

We had a network section at one time and many people complained about having too many sections, so we decided to move Windows, Networking, Hardware and Software into one section called PC Support. I think it's fine the way it is now, there's no point in recreating a section that we removed because members requested it (at least I think).

Hey JDoors, Thanks! Glad you liked the video Yea, it was taken with my webcam and to tell you the truth I have no idea why it was such a huge file and it wasn't just you, the audio wasn't the best when recorded, since the only way it seemed to work was through a mic. I made another one this morning (which is my personal favorite one of the three I've done). If anyone would like to see that one I'll post a link just let me know. The band's name is Race The Sun. You can listen to more of them here as well as download a few of the songs: http://www.purevolume.com/racethesun Enjoy B

Yes, that's me having some fun with my new guitar, I promise when I get better I'll put up some stuff of me really playing. Btw, the writing on it is signatures from members of my favorite band - Race The Sun B

Ftp Server Not Working - Solved
Besttechie replied to wasaaabi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Hey, I'm not really sure what to tell you except check all your config settings, etc. Networking issues are by far (I think) the toughest to troubleshoot over the internet. I personally like to be at the computer(s) when it's a networking problem. I'm not really sure what you're asking either in your last post. Sorry I haven't responded sooner, my girlfriend is in town and I'm spending time with her. Maybe someone else has a few ideas? B -
Ftp Server Not Working - Solved
Besttechie replied to wasaaabi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Well, essentially that domain is your actual IP address. 192.168.1.100 is your local IP, however the domain isn't really pointing to that perse it's pointing to your real IP address. It's only 192.168.1.100 to you, on your network. However, when someone connects to the FTP they aren't connecting to 192.168.1.100, they're connecting to your actual IP. Make sense? B -
Ftp Server Not Working - Solved
Besttechie replied to wasaaabi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
No, 192.168.1.1 is the address of your router while 192.168.1.100 is the local address of your pc. I don't know what you mean by "redirect" though, port forwarding on my router is under "Applications and Gaming". However, routers firmware are different so it may be under another name. Also, if you go to your web browser and type in the address bar: ftp://192.168.1.100:21 - a dialog box will appear asking for username and password, once the server is running correctly if it isn't, then you will get an unable to connect message. Also in your ftp client, make sure you have it set to use port 21 -

Hey, Make sure you port forwarded port 21 in your routers config, as I mentioned. There is another tutorial which I just linked to that shows you how to do that. I'm thinking that's the problem. B -
Well, looks like someone did... Happy Birthday Nerelda! B
