  1. Both Intel or AMD will work for what you want. Just get the setup with the best price and reliability.
  2. NY State has a 1-800 number for those on foodstamps to call for their balance. I imagine Michigan should too seeing as it is a federal program. Anyone who earns below a certain wage can get foodstamps. The amount will vary with the number of household members and combined wages. Also those who collect any Social Security benefits and are below those earning are eligible. I believe if you are on unemployment and fit the eligibility rules you can receive them.
  3. I've used those foodstamp debit cards. You can find out your total on the phone (automated) before you go to the store. You are supposed to swipe them before the cashier totals your bill. All it takes is a swipe and punch in your 4 digit code. If you bought more than what you have on the card pull out the cash from your pocket to cover the balance. Many of those who complain that have them used all their cash boozing it up at the bars. If you didn't use up the total amount on the card the balance is on your register receipt. It shouldn't take anymore time then paying cash. Other times that I h
  4. I can't stand shopping when someone in front of you has a bunch of rugrats screaming "Mom, mom I want this" that grab stuff off the shelves and you have to wait for the mother to stop her multiple saying of no while not moving. Slap the kid on the ass and move it. Then there is the people who don't know the proper direction to push their carts down the aisles. Damn it in every store I have been in it is customary to go down the right side of the aisle just like you drive on the streets. I also can't stand people who wait for their total before pulling out their coupons and checkbook or have to
  5. Happy Yule to you. Explain that those browsers won't break the system but should improve it.
  6. I aviod the flu by telling my doctors that I will not visit them during the flu season. If you don't have it and sit in a waiting room full of sick people you soon will. I go to the grocery store once a month in the middle of the night when it is almost vacant. Ever see how many sick people with sick kids shop during the day? I don't have visitors during the flu season. They can come see me when it is over or email/call. Up here in the snowbelt I get plenty of excercise and fresh air shoveling all of that white crap. Bacterial soap can actually increase your chances of getting sick by disabli

  12. I imagine il-wiccan is celebrating Yule. I haven't talked to him in about a month. He was going to visit friends in Wisconsin then drop in on Marsh. I'll try contacting il after the holidays. I can try Marsh later tonight.
  13. Well our mayor instituted a setback toward the WalMart project. We have in NY a program called Empire Zone which grants businesses breaks. The town that is trying to get WalMart to build had these benefits, which are supplied by the city, applied for 125 acres. They tried to slip the property that WalMart wants to build on into this tract. The mayor took away all Empire Zone benefits for the town period and gave them to businesses in another town and part of the city. He also stated he will not extend any sewer or water service to the town. The town has threatened to sue so the mayor replied h
  14. Did you allow it permission in your firewall?
  15. You can make it either. If you make it FAT32 then you can read/write to them with Linux or Win98 if you wish to dual boot later or a Linux LiveCD.
  16. I can see the point. We don't really need left vs right or Christian vs non-Christian here. OT at G$ucks has plenty of room for this left leaning atheist to get trouble stirring.
  17. Give yourself at least 20GB for XP. Split the rest 50/50. If it were me I would just setup a 40-50GB partition for XP and programs then leave the remainder for whatever. Just use the two partitions. Save any important stuff on the second partition so if you ever have to reinstall you won't lose it. Of course leaving it as one partition and backing up your stuff would be a better option according to some people.
  18. If you looked the first link I gave you it has the instructions.

  21. I need to get a nut roaster. Nothing better than hot nuts on a cold day.
  22. Whenever I make a phone call I identify myself as Whiskeyman. When I call my niece and get the answering machine I say this is Uncle Whiskey. Any email. card or letter I send is usually signed Whiskey. You could visit my city and ask where to find me by my real name and maybe 35% of the people would know who you were talking about. Ask for the Whiskeyman and it would go up to 70%+. Very few people remember my real name.
