  1. You're welcome. Those three software vendors, two of which seem connected (Allume and Aladdin), all seem to have the same issue with that file.
  2. My spring cleaning is still going on. It's has taken me about 34 hours now and there is still more to go. Going through all of my storage drive is time consuming. The hard part is deciding what to delete or update.
  3. Are you using any programs from Allume (ZipMagic, Stuffit, icSpyware/icCleanup or iMage Manager). Aladdin Systems or Ontrack?
  4. You really have to work at tweaking 98SE to get it to behave and handle programs easily. I have spent close to 30 hours so far getting my new install functioning the way I like it. It may take me several more hours before I am done, but in the end it will be a rock stable install. You need to know what you're doing within the registry to really make it work. If you mess up it usually means starting back to step 1. After June 30th this year you will no longer be able to download any updates for 98/ME. If you are smart and still want to use it install 98 or ME to a spare drive without manufactu

  9. The best thing I have used for Win98SE to view photos and edit them is IrfanView. It associates itself with all image files if you want it to. When you single click on the image file in any folder it will show a thumbnail. Screw Windows Kodak Image viewer.

  12. Myabe WinXP has stock drivers that will allow the install. If not you may have to search within that download for the SATA drivers to put on a floppy.
  13. If the thermal paste was applied correctly the stock heatsink/fan should cool that to near/under 36C. I think their is a problem with airflow around the CPU. You have to be careful with what heatsink setup you use so you don't block the airflow to the chipset heatsink.
  14. Is the side fan drawing air into the case or out? It should draw air in.
  15. Did you try? Thumbnails in Windows Explorer: In addition to Web View, Windows98 includes a little known feature which makes it easy to preview images from Explorer. This is known as Thumbnail View. To enable Thumbnail View, right-click a folder and choose Properties. Place a checkmark in the “Enable thumbnail view” box and click OK. Next, double-click the folder to open it. Click the view menu and choose Thumbnail (below “as Web Page”). You will now see a thumbnail preview of all graphics files in that folder.

  17. Working at home is boring as heck. I'd like to open a combination repair shop and geek bar. it would be nice to fix a PC while having conversations with some fellow computer fanatics.
  18. I wish I could still drink whiskey. It would have relieved the boredom of waiting for programs to run. I'm still only about 75% done. I still have a couple of programs to install and a lot of tweaking to do.
  19. How's the air flow within the case? Do you have an exhaust fan at the back under the PSU? Are those temps from the Temperature panel included with the case? If so have you tried Everest to double check?
  20. Darn wind is blowing hard. Heavy duty lake effect coming this way.
