First I want to give thank to sultan for providing the link in his sig for me to stumble on to this. Acrobat Reader Speedup 1.3 I loaded a 3350kb pdf in 15 seconds, ran this speedup util cut load to about 5 seconds. If you do alot of reading from pdf you may want to try this. M

1.Double check no floppy in floppy drive. 2.Disable any antivirus in BIOS. 3.Check OS cd for for scratches that would result in errors. 4.Are you using a M$ XP cd or a cd that came with you machine? ie XP on a Dell or HP cd. Use active killdisk to wipe the drive, free version makes one pass. Set BIOS to cd rom as first boot. Insert cd and go. When machine "hangs" does the tattle tail liteon the cd and for hdd blink like something is going on or does everthing quiet down. You could set the hdd as slave to the primary you use. The use something like active killdisk to wipe the drive. Do a scann disk/defrag from within windows. This will make sure all date is gone (killdisk) and find any bad sectors (scan disk). M

Has anyone had problems getting plugins for firefox, namely quicktime. Each time I try install fails. I don't want quicktime as primary player. Would like just plugin not full install player. Any hints? M

Crank up the fonts to extremely large then leave machine. Wife comes to the machine freaks out, life is good. M

If the ink cartridge was used I'd say the nozzles may be dry. Alcohol and a paper towel could clean the dried ink. M

I don't know much about networking, but a friend had a network problem. The nic and vid cards were conflicting. If I'm not mistaken he move them farther apart. Vid was agp nic was pci. Don't know but may give you another avenue to troubleshoot. Good luck M
