OOOHHH Yeah a reformat. Love it. Like a fresh spring day inside your machine. I suggest you load any/all software you can't live without, update all, tweak your system back to where you know it will be at it's best, then make an image for restoring later. Make two copies. CD-RW so you could rewrite to it if you chnge the can't live withouts. This will save you time from loading from factory restore the updating and loading software later. M

Well the location actuator script in 98 is based on the alphabet. The programmer, press to meet the release deadline was forced to stop at the letter "C". Since then this programmer has since gone on to work on XP. He felt he had to fix the short commings he had built into 98. Yeah it's B$... but hey why not. M

I'm not on my machine at home so this verrryyy annoying. I browsing around and notice the pop ups. Not only are they themselves aggrevating, but some appear as scare tactics. they are odd sized, off center so you have to slide the screen to close them or go to the task bar, then some are hard to close. I know what life is like without them so having to deal with them for one day can be tolorated. has anyone here ever found anything of any use from what appeared in a popup or pop under? M I do understand having advertising is a way to cut cost.

Iused McAfee,Norton,and AVG. Didn't care for AVG, cannot explain why...just didn't like it. Using Avast now, like it but it doesn't have a schedule scan, don't matter I scan a couple times a week. Try the free ones. If one catches your fancy use it and keep it up to date. Online scanners are good for dbl checking. Google results Norton Online scanner. Near bottom of page. Trend Housecall M

Had friend who had issues with a/v and firewall after sp2. He was running AVG and Zone, xp kept telling him it's built in sotware was not working, FREEZE. Don't remember if he dumped sp2 or got it working.?. It's no help but someone is having similar problems. Keep your chin up, it'll get worked out. M

UPDATE: Found that machine has been down for two weeks. At around 7pm owner hinted that they wanted machine for am on 18th. Still can't get recovery CD to work. My copy of 98 will not load display drivers. Installed 98, shut it down. No A/V No Burning Software No Internet pre-setup No Updates No dust bunnie removal 12+ GB HDD with Win 98. I want to say thanks for the help and laughs. This will be a lesson to the owner(s) in proper cd care. Again thanks all. 'Till tommorrow....later today. M
