  1. Down to 2.59 this morning...Southern Maryland BH
  2. What? Did you say something?.... Anyway, we are talking about Boys here... The teenage girl is a strange creature. I was scared of teenage girls, because they tend to erupt into tears without warning. Women are easier to figure out, and frankly more likable... As for men, I can't defend my gender. We are deeply flawed creatures that can only be domesticated by years of nagging... BH
  3. I used to love that in college. That elite snobby aire that the professors had. Fools wrapped up in their own self importance. In my experence, that snobbyness came from those who least deserved it. Specifically, some core liberal arts professors. To this day I don't get it. At my University we had brilliant engineers, scientists, and business men and all had humility. They taught as a public service, and some gave up making a killing. But a professor who had spent 12 years studying the dynamics of 18 century Italian history somehow felt superior. Sorry if I offended any of the Lib
  4. And they say the liberal elite wants to help the poor...what a crock. If I were anywhere near you, I would buy you a beer. You have your argument down... BH
  5. WTF? Time for the city to annex that property! You know, if it were national security I might understand, but damaging a wetlands for for WALMART? Jeez BH
  6. I should have gotten into this thread earlier, Liz is giving away 'girl secrets' Helpful hints, Don't wear new shoes. Have something to talk about. Don't play the 'brother' role. Spend time with your date, but don't be clingy. Don't hang with your friends. If you can dance you are set. Like Liz said, girls REALLY like to dance. It seems that as soon as I had a certain subset of women figured out (my type), and got 'good' at dating, I found one I wanted to keep and settled down. Ahhh, the irony. BH
  7. Yep, that should do it. Now I just need a comforter and a fan... BH
  8. Employees, no problem. People fight for sewing factory jobs in Kentucky. I understand why refineries need to be near ports, or a crude pipeline. As for the gas pipeline, I am still a little confused. I thought refining took place at centralized refineries, because a large variety of products are produced out of oil. Then the 'raw' gas was sent through a pipeline and customed blended at the end of the pipe. The final distribution takes place by truck. After thinking about it, the biggest problem is probably the environmentalist lobby interfereing with an individual state's right to self
  9. I used a papertowel and scotch tape to wedge the clapper away from the bell. Rather primative, but what can I say, I was 12... BH
  10. I took a lot of those things apart, and I have to agree. They really don't make things like they used to. This is the price we pay for cheap technology. The last old type phone we bought was 50 dollars in 1979 (expensive). I also think this was a function of the phone company having to maintain the equipment. Build quality, pass the cost on to the consumer. They had you, because you were forced to buy the phone from them. I loved the old ringer phones, my first mod was silencing a ringer to keep the school from calling my mother to report I was skipping... BH
  11. My Dad once said he had me because they didn't have TV remote controls back then... Guess who switched stations and moved the volume up and down? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> After my parents split up she had a nasty little story about how my Dad had called her down from upstairs (in a split level) to change the channel for him. She railed about how lazy he was...etc. Years later I got the whole story, Dad had a bad back, and was working 14 hour days. Lazy my butt, he was just recovering! BH
  12. The question about Gary is, was the refinery there first? If a homeowner chooses to buy next to an Airport to get lower cost land, they have given up ther right to complain in my opinion. Same for any industry. Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt gas pumped through pipllines to it destination? If so, what is preventing them from putting refineries anywhere along the pipeline route? One exapmle might be rural areas that need jobs, and have lots of space. Put them near pig farms, then the smell will be unnoticeable... Bush offered abandoned military bases, what ever happened to that? B
  13. Now I have another excuse to stay home and nap... BH
  14. We should put couches in here, I need a nap. Somewhere far from the register. Luckily we have plenty of space... BH
  15. I agree, because I am one. There just aren't that many people that mod period. The way I see it, you mod for one of two reasons: 1) Bragging rights. 2) You have a drive to take everything and reengineer it to be more powerful, prettier, or better in some other way. Now most of the mature types like you and I could care less about bragging rights, so that motivation is gone. That just leaves those of us with the drive to improve everything. Frankly my friend, we are a rare breed. In my experence, most people with that drive go into woodworking or golf . On Yoshi's site there are abou
