If the price of raw materials goes up, and they can't raise prices profit suffers. When profit suffers, the lay people off and only run the most profitable plants. Since EVERY state is never going to pass price caps, because basically it is anti-capitalist, your reality is never going to be everyones reality. In addition, what is to stop oil companies from shipping to South America? Oil goes where the money is. So they no longer make a profit in the US, they have the option of going somewhere else. In addition, if you set price caps why wouldn't an oil company just charge that cap? Hey,

Thanks all, I made my order this morning. For anyone else who is interested, they are at Tiger Direct $179 after $40 rebate. Shipping was $76, 1 year parts and labor with shipping both ways (I bought an additional 2, since it was door to door) BH -

Woa there big fella. You aren't looking at the whole picture. If you cap prices, no one is FORCED to sell to you. Sellers will dump their stale surplus and no more. Get ready for shortages. Fuel delivery isn't a state run enterprise after all. BH

Wow, no deals like that here. I found a refurbed Dell Trinitron 21 from a reputable dealer for 219 but the shipping is 76 bucks. looking at that $430 dollar pricetag you quoted makes me think it might be worth it. BH -

Well, I am still trying to decide. It looks like I will be getting an LCD, I can hardly find local CRT's at 19. Anyone besides Barb (thanks Barb )have an LCD they like for gaming? BH -
This is the last time I buy electronics from a 'warehouse' store. After 3 years, the final piece of electronic I thought was a good deal died, my 19 inch Sylvania monitor. I am now using my 9 year old MAG 17, which is still running strong (knock wood) I need a monitor, CRT or LCD. I play games with it, do CBT's and surf a lot. My price range seems to lead me to a 19 inch. My VC isn't DVI out, but it's old too so I could upgrade. Any comments on what to buy, what not to buy? Any really good deals? TIA! BH

Congratulations! I think it all comes down to expectations. You have to let a woman be a woman, and she has to let you be a man. In my experience there is no 50-50 in any relationship, she is going to pick out the curtains, you get to pick out the grass seed. The trick is to just go with it. 13 years in for me, and there have been some bumpy spots. If we can survive our daughters teen years and monopause everything else will be gravy. BH

We have multiple problems here, and there is plenty of blame to go around. 1) Enviornmentalists have blocked building of new refineries. Since we continue to use more and more, we were going to bump into a problem sometime. 2) The oil producing countries have formed a cartel, illegal under US laws BTW, to 'fix' the price of oil. It costs them a few cents to produce it, the world get screwed. 3) Americans near some oil field areas have blocked exploration, and special interests have prevented us from opening up fields where no one would possibly want to live. 4) Special interests have pulled

I was born too early. I like the tuners, a friend had an escort GT (remember these?) that I spent a lot of time working on. I guess I got interested when I discovered Rally. Dirt road, lots of curves, just like high school in Kentucky. Those were some fun days, except for the ocassional slide into the ditch.. BH

Have you dropped it yet? I would like to hear what design you chose and how it worked out. BH

Isn't there a disadvantage in turning off Java and/or Java Script? Won't this create problems when using various programs which employ Java, of which there appear to be many? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I left Java script on, and just turned off Java. Certianly I expect to run into a problem eventually, but I really dont hit any sites regularly that use it. This isn't a problem on my primary machine, but this crappy one I use on occassion. BH -
Trucks, yes. Frankly If I had it to do over again I would have bought a Ford truck. As for small cars, you cant beat Japaneese cars. Toyotas and Hondas run forever. And now that they are being built here, I can justify buying one. BH
