Hey everybody, Fresh out of last week's reload I'm having trouble getting my downstairs computer to recognize the network printer. Both computers have XP, are under the same workgroup name, and I configured the printer (through the computer directly connected to the printer) to share the printer on the network. When I go to the other computer it's not finding the printer when it browses the network - how can i fix this? (note, as of now, I haven't tried searching by \\boehm\psc2410 when it asks for the direct address if that would even work)

I beleive it's an XP feature in general - my built one does that too. the one click just closes out any annoying programs that don't want to close

hmm. I'll have to think about it I already have my monitor turn off after 20 minutes, so I think I will just leave the computer on all day, then turn it off at night

Hello everybody, I heard today that the best thing you can do for a computer is leave it on ALL the time. My only worries are with internet intrusions - I have no problem with electric surges or power outages because I'm on a UPS. I have firewall and virus protection - is it okay for me to leave the computer on all the time? Also, do I want to set it to standby or just let it run normally?

Some ISP's will bounce them like that because their E-Mail program sees it as SPAM and will do that. Sometimes a way to get arround that is by sending it to yourself in the To: box and the rest in the BCC: box. Why would it view a normal message as spam - unless your subject is Free V1agra Cod1n3, T33nage G1r1s!

Yeah, it's all the young people - you know, not the ones who've memorized every registry fix of Windows 98 or the people who post every 5 seconds when they get an error (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

I listen, in fact, I do believe its obvious you can use any XP CD with any XP Key

In the past I've tested the CD Drive my hooking it up on the same cable (temporarily) with the hard drive - this eliminates the possibility of just the actual drive from being bad

Thanks shanenin. I went into to BIOS last night to look around, and yes I saw that. I was going to come home today and see if it would help, but my step-dad had already called Dell and got the problem solved. He said they had him adjust the processor settings and the battery settings in the BIOS. I assuming this is something they did. All I have to say is... Microsoft is making loads of money because they now off their OEM partners 2 free round trip airline tickets for each copy of XP purchased and activated - like I said - it costs them about $2 a disc (I believe they charge Dell - their biggest customer - around $25 a license

Who is your webservice through? It sounds like your settings are just misconfigured On GMail I know you have to go through settings to allow POP forwarding - so it could be a configuration
