How new is your Dell? I've never seen one with a recovery partition (only on HP and Compaq)

If you have the money to invest in a new heatsink/fan, more case fans, and most likely a new CPU when you burn it out - you should just stick with what you have or just have bought a faster CPU in the first place

I'm doubtful on Windows 98 - it may work with the drivers ME will work for sure - it's pretty much Windows 98SE with built in driver support - most things that are 98SE compatible are also for ME

I've never seen a Dell with a recovery partition - so count on getting a disk

I hear ya - maybe on Vista (95% of me doubts it)

That's what I figured - I'll just unplug it!

Get ready for some heavy spyware removal. I do believe it worked by disabling EVERYTHING in startup items (I used MSConfig - it worked so I don't really want to hear that I should use some other startup program ) Rebooted, ran Spysweeper - most likely spybot too for Winfixer, then slowly turn back on items. Just remember worst case scenario - Backup and Reload

The computer is one floor below my bedroom - however, it makes it real easy to see my way around at 5:00 in the morning when I have to get up for practice. I used a regular Dremel cutting disc - I wasn't going for a real clean look - I just wanted to light up some acrylic just for kicks and get some practice in (which also rules out painting the bottom, but I'll keep that in mind for future projects). As far as acrylic, I got a real good deal on 10 8 x 11.5 sheets for $15 on eBay before I knew I had the free stuff coming in.

I know - my dog has a gigantic night light! That's why I posted in PC Support for a program to independently control USB ports so I can turn off this without having to unplug it. My dad, works in advertising, got me a bunch of acrylic from work, why I've been doing alot with that lately. I think I'm done, as far as computer accesorries go - I need other stuff to light up!

Plexiglass mousepad! It's rounded off acrylic with paper glued on for a mousepad surface. The 2 green LED's are powered by a 5V current from a USB port on a parallel circuit. Here are the pics:

Just use a powered USB hub and plug it into that . When you want it off, unplug the transformer; or put it on a switch. My goal is to disable power through the computer - I don't want to unplug it every time I want to turn it off.

I recently finished a project (to sum it up short it is and LED lit up monitor stand) and I want to be able to turn off the power to the certain USB port that it's plugged into. Is there a way to control USB ports independently (through a software interface)? The one is plugged into the motherboard if that means anything. Thanks

They would work great for football/baseball games - it sucks having to get up and wait forever to use those dang bathrooms

I really doubt your video card/monitor are broken - but it's worth testing. I'd go into safe mode (which I'm assuming you are doing - which actually proves that your video and monitor do work) and Remove all the driver files related with that card. Then download the previous version that you KNOW works

I just did the lower bay, now my 5 racks go - fan controller, DVD Burner, DVD Rom, Lighted blank, lighted blank

Nah, that's just the camera being so close (and the camera happens to be a cell phone) It's about as bright as the case window anyways, and the cold cathodes are on a fan controller (usually they blink with the music )

Driver Rollback in safe mode

Here it is If anyone cares - just ask me and I'll give a brief detail of steps (it was extremely simple)

I love tweakUI, mainly because I hate those stupid windows balloons that show up on the taskbar

I know ASUS has their A8N-SLI for 110 - and you can't go wrong with ASUS

Born in 1989 (dangerously close to another birthday) But I honestly believe I was intended to be raised in the 80's (mainly because of my music taste)

He means you would run a cord out of your laptop's speaker port (a 3.5mm cord like headphones use) to the stereo. My mom's new car (nissan armada) came with an auxiliary port and I'm just waiting to mess around with my MP3 player. I know that aftermarket kits for the port cost aroun 100 - but I saw a guy do it for his iPOD on a Toyota Celica and posted really good instructions somewhere on hackaday.com
