  1. god damn it i had learn my lesson >.< yep i did the registry for that programe It sounds like the same as "FREE SPYWARE KILLER" or "FREE VIRUS HUNTER" and all the crap that actually puts viruses and spyware on it. 9 times out of 10 (or maybe 99 out of 100) Free means catch
  2. Interesting - never heard of that before It's probably just extra space anyways - every hard drive (to some degree) has unallocated space
  3. You have 2 options - get a vaccum and compressed air - shoot air into the heatsink and fan while sucking out all the dust (you don't want dust spreading all throughout your computer remove the heatsink from the socket, unhook the power cord, and blow out the heatsink. Don't touch the grease on the bottom of the heatsink or on top of the CPU they keep it cool. Reattach the heatsink properly (the groove needs to lock in with the processor socket) and plug the fan back into the motherboard
  4. The extra space is unallocated space, according to the XP CD. I wonder if there is any files in it! I hope that's sarcasm, but I'm not always good at reading things correctly
  5. I work part-time at a computer store and sometimes its enough for me not to mess with my PC at home, that's part of the reason I can't pick what type of engineering I want to go into
  6. It should have the Power Listings on the side sticker of the PSU I've rarely encounter ones that don't
  7. Microsoft would want you to buy a new copy of Windows every time you reload!
  8. As far as people saying they've never had problem with eMachine motherboards - you're lucky I work at one of those "mom and pop computer stores" and with eMachines it's either the PSU or the MOBO I'd say 80% it's the Power supply, and 20% Motherboard problems Maybe I just don't get the easy fixes
  9. Nice generic set problem Since you hear beeping you can rule out the PSU, but still a possibility of Graphics card, RAM, or CPU I'd recommend you open your case disconnect all your IDE cables, they are the ribbons that go to your hard drive and CD drives (with the computer off, of course) Try to boot your system - check to see if your CPU fan is running (If it does not work continue) Remove the RAM and attempt to boot - Do you get the same type and number of beeps? (this would bad RAM) Try to boot with each (if you have more than one stick) stick of RAM in different slots Let me know what yo
  10. eMachines are prone to PSU and Motherboard problems so... When you press power can you hear anything (fans turning/hard drive spinning?) If so, it is your video If not, it is most likely a bad power supply, you can get a good one on Newegg for $30
  11. are you saying the product key on a computer with an ME OEM sticker may not work with a different ME cd? I'm guessing, I remember for sure that 2000 Pro has to work with the CD and I'm assuming ME was the same too
  12. Product key WILL WORK with XP (unlike 2000 Pro and maybe ME - I can't remember) You may have to give a call to good ol microsoft if it doesn't reactivate though DON'T PAY EXTRA FOR THE CDS!
  13. The blue flash you are seeing is a memory dump, indicating a problem in the windows loading process - therefore safe mode will not work either Is the extra 12GB a partition or unallocated space? There's a difference (space is just empty) I've seen this problem be fixed with a new load of the OS, new memory, or a new hard drive
  14. Once the new IE comes out, there will be no point in Firefox b/c IE will have tabs and Firefox really isn't THAT much safter because there is so much coding in it leaving many possible holes for intruders
  15. Oh, gotcha But you know it's a good idea (of course it would be a great idea if it sold!)
  16. Everybody knows it's a good idea
  17. I have a funny eBay auction that I'm trying to raise some buzz on to get on Attack of the Show Tuesday night Feel free to bid, but at least check it out - you'll probably find it funny Here Thank You
  18. My neighbor refused to let his daughter pay for Internet, so he got her some high-gain antenna's to mooch off of other WiFi signals
  19. hmm, Because I know that Dell Recovery discs have a label of "only for Dell made machines" or something like that On a totally different note, Terrorist, I think you'd appreciate the creativity of my eBay auction Give it a Peak Like I said, a totally different note
  20. Ok I was just wondering why I should get it off Newegg or TigerDirect? Just wodering. It's cheaper on eDirectSofware. eDirectSoftware has a bad rep. Do your self a favor and buy WinXP Home or Pro OEM from a decent retailer like NewEgg or Tiger Direct. eDirectSoftware sells Dell branded WinXP disks with a COA from other manufacturers. Isn't that against the liicense to install branded software on a different type of computer?
