Good Morning, Blue Screen Of Death
xxkbxx replied to LiXindi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
That's what I hate most about XP, the documents and settings/my documents/ shared documents/ susy's documents! -
Yeah I've noticed that my number of nonfunctional mods is proportional to free time. I know what you mean about the people with all the LED's on their cars - especially when it's stock. Makes me laugh, and laugh, and laugh. But if you got the hardware, IMO you can go somewhat out witht the lights. I'm trying to think of something to do in my car's interior, perhaps replace part of my box, or amp, or something, with a plexi panel. (at least it won't be as random as the mousepad, I just wanted to see how straight I could cut with a Cutting disc. Last night I actually did a functional thing

Marty, I know that FAT32 works with XP personally (from a ME to XP upgrade, the file system was FAT32) However, NTFS is recommended due to security and file compressions (as listed above) Maybe in your case it didn't work for some other reason - but I'm 100% positive XP works with FAT32 and NTFS -

sweet, thanks dragon -
What a shame G4 is in general - I used to love watching ScreenSavers on TechTV w/ actually knowledgeable people (Leo). Nowadays I have to watch 60 minutes of AOTS just to hear 5 minutes of computer stuff mixed in with Comic Books, Mod my Gameboy, Stupid Skits, ect. I'm glad they shut down their PC Support forum - that's what redirected me here and I have no intention of ever posting anything on G4 in the future

Terrorist - I thought NTFS was just more compressed than FAT32, how is it more secure? -

You delete your C partition and for all practical reasons, your stuff is gone. I'd recommend a clean install at this point - by formatting your drive NTFS (quick if it's an option) then reloading Windows and all your programs. Wait up on it though, in case somebody else has an idea -

It sounds like you pressed ESC to continue creating a new setup of XP instead of repairing (pressing R) over the installation -

Dang terrorist! I was hoping to recall all the keystrokes by memory (I'm serious, I am pretty sure I have it down pat from repetition -

I'd recommend doing a REPAIR INSTALL with an XP disc - not the recovery console. Boot off your disc, continue to install XP, then select a REPAIR install on your copy of XP -

That's why I use IE - I've never had a site that IE didn't work on. Did you update recently? Possibly something you downloaded for FF is the culprit. Worst case, try the ol' uninstall & reinstall on it - it never hurts -
My ASUS A8N-SLI came with like a super advanced overclocking setup - including a setting inwhich it adjusts its speed several times per second - but like Dragon, mine stays at stock speed
-
I believe AMD locked the clock speed to avoid re-tagging by some un-scrupulous PC builders. Back in the day you would get what you thought was a hot Athalon chip and what you had was a very very hot Duron. Done right most would never know but done wrong it was fried in short order with no warrantee. Preston It's a possibility with AMD chips (at least mine anyways) to turn up the CPU multiplyer and Front Side Bus - but honestly - it's not worth voiding the warrenty and frying the chip!

To compare ME to 98SE is an atrosity. ME was a half backed OS that M$ id trying yo forget about. ME was ment to be a home version of Win 2000. Preston Sorry Terrorist - I didn't mean to compare 98SE to ME as far as quality (I hate ME, the ONLY benefit of ME over 98SE that I've ever noticed is increased driver support) My connection to the two OS's was ME being intended to be an upgrade of 98. How's your progress in XP coming along anyways?

I did etch something (just with a cutting disc) I didn't really want to work on finishing this since it was just a timekiller (on my 1 free night out of the whole week) / oppurtunity to get some more practice with plexiglass and power LED's off a parallel circuit. However, I will definitly do that in show projects in the very near future (as long as I don't run out of ideas)
-
this should be easy - does anybody know how to turn off filter keys? I often hold down Space Bar pondering what to type and the pop up is bugging me!
-
That sounds more like it - considering ME is like 98SE's updated clone

You need a CD Rom drive to install it, only other bet would be to remove the hard drive, install windows, then transfer it back into the laptop
-
That's right Marty! Stick it to the man - we don't need crap from Dell, besides Customs are way cooler!
-
Huh? I was referring to Dell not having recovery partitions in general, now i'm confused!

I can understand 95 and NT, but I really think it'll work with ME since it does with 98SE through XP Worst comes to worst - just give it a whirl!
