  1. Use the imaginary meatgrinder, Macmarauder, you'll feel better! Or a Gypsy Curse. As far as Lindy (new interest, I take it?) keep trying, keep being your sweet self and in time, who knows, you might end up with her! Some engaged couples can be a royal pain in the patootie--they think the entire world revolves around their big day. Normal, and after they settle into married life, they get "ordinary" again It's been cold here and I've been "jonesing" to play outside. Argghh . Well, today I put on a second sweatshirt and tackled the Boston Ivy on the West side of the house while the sun wa
  2. Oh, that's a good one, Jim! thanks Liz
  3. Thank you, Pete! What you wrote about ethanol was something I long wondered about and suspected! I also found this article about the "hybrid cars"--I'm not sure if I'm reading the results correctly, if I am, these cars don't save the consumer any money in the long run....and it brought up an interesting point, that the mileage on these is highly, highly overstated (I've heard that before) clickity Liz

    My New Computer

Wow, about 2" each dimension.....I'd lose it But this sure will make computer desks obsolete. Liz
  5. No, Bubbabob, the frying pan is for Hubby, I threaten the kids with a baseball bat. They run faster and I need the extra length I finally mowed the backyard yesterday and dug the grass clippings into the vegetable garden! Now to let it "cook" for a week or two and then plant my peppers and tomatoes. Yeah, I know, I'm celebrating mowing the yard, I'm sick....(and doing a "grow dance", I need more clippings!!) Another smell--lily of the valley! They're just starting to bloom up here. Liz
  6. Like Tenmm said, seasoning makes the cast iron pan non stick. A properly seasoned pan is as smooth as any teflonny pan. And the beauty of a cast iron pan is that you don't need to be so careful with it. When I make chicken dishes, I start with frozen chicken breasts and as they cook, I cut them up into pieces right in the pan. I do the same thing with stew meat--the chunks are always cut up too big at the grocery store. You can start a casserole on the stovetop and finish it off in the oven without switching pots You can scrape stuck on food with a paint scraper. Can't do that with a
  7. "Old Fashioned Recipe"--rub pans with lard, place in 200 degree oven for 2-3 hours. I do this after Thanksgiving because I always have lard leftover from pies. Speaking of pies, a cast iron frying pan is the BEST pie pan in the world! I don't like a soggy crust and the crust is perfect. And it makes a cool looking pie, too (although MY inlaws think its weird....but they eat it!) And the "purists" say just wipe the pans out with a rag, not even water....I don't go that far--too hard to "just wipe" chili . In fact, if I cook pork, I use soap...that Jewish Heritage of mine coming to play, I
  8. ME TOO, TENMM!!! "SCHOOL A little girl had just finished her first week of school. "I'm just wasting my time," she said to her mother. "I can't read, I can't write and they won't let me talk!"" This was what my son said after his first DAY of Kindergarten! He ended up being a very good reader, but still talks too much! That one's getting passed on, thanks, Marty! Liz
  9. Daughter got a Dell in January and I asked her about this. She said she never saw anything titled "My Way", her comment, "if I did have this, I never saw it and never activated it". She got home from college last week and I do need to plug her Dell in (yeah, she screwed it up, I, I mean you guys here, get the "pleasure" of fixing it.... ) When I uncover her computer from the "pile of Katie-stuff" in the living room, I'll look for that. I also googled "my way" and found nothing on the first page, so I wonder if Dell discontinued using it?? Let's hope so! Liz
  10. Happy Birthday, Angie! have a wonderful day Liz and Chappy

  13. Three times, already, Tenmm?? Wow. We haven't mowed yet up here. Will probably mow this week sometime, though, needed or not. I want some grass clippings for the compost pile Liz
  14. Ohhhhhh,......... steak........ It's still snowing, Jsky? *hugs* Liz
  15. Oh, my gosh, Pat! Sure hope you start feeling better FAST! Are you sure you didn't break anything, young lady? And if you're going on vacation, if you smell like a brewery, so what? You likely aren't going to run into anyone you know, and if you do, just explain your "therapy"! The alcohol treatment sounds good (although, I'd probably opt for the "inside-out effect" ) Are you caught up on your tetnus? They say once every ten years and that piece of metal that got stuck in you certainly merits a shot if you arent current (might as well get it in your already sore arm instead of having B
  16. Tenmm! Yes, welcome back! You have been missed! Line dried laundry when the violets are blooming. Oh, how I've missed that! Liz
  17. 6 out of 8! But, gosh, I really guessed (persnickity about mispelled words on sites)---how can one really tell? Liz

    Spades And Tonk

The kids play Yahoo games--have you tried looking there? Liz
  19. Oh, that's good, Keith! My Dad would love that! My Mom is a watercolorist and my Dad discovered that Gallo Rose Wine was the same color as Faygo Red Pop. Their booth was always popular with the fellow artists at the art shows...they all wanted some Red Pop!! Thank God for two liter refillable Faygo bottles and Grandkids to empty them so Dad could refill them with "the recipe"!. Liz

    Mac`s New Room.

Pat's right...where are the chairs?? The second picture got me thinking...when Daughter comes home from college tomorrow, she'll be bringing home her computer (that is if her new boyfriend doesn't take it home with him as planned--we're gonna "fix it", I hope) Where are we going to put the durned thing?? Oh, the toyroom is going to look like that, I'm afraid. I likes the new dungeon (yes, I WILL stay out of it, Macmarauder! But you're doing your own cleaning down there!) Liz
  21. Shanenin, exactly what I was afraid was going to happen! Oh, MS's phone lines must be jammed. Thank God *knock wood* I'm not one of the callers! Liz
  22. LOL! That didn't take long, did it? Smart thinking about calling ahead of time, Hondaboy! Liz
