thats where I got mine also. I have two of them, so I took the other shelf off it the second one. I had left over laminate from whaen I did my kitchen remodel. It still looks like real wood good suggestions. As to a keyboard, it is already at the perfect height to place it on top of the counter(arms are Parallel with the floor). If I sit on a tall stool, I think my legs would hit drawers. I fully agree, I have lots of wasted space below, i may try and add some shelves.

thanks for the insight and suggestions :-) edit added later// I skimmed that article, lots of good information. I had know idea that dells made between 1996 and 2000 apperaed to use a standard atx power supply, but was not. A standard power supply would fit, but you would end up frying your electronics,

I tried to install vista on my desktop. When I used my pci fx5200 I got a blue screen after the full install finished, just as it was drawing my desktop. I replaced that card with an agp fx5200 and it worked fine. That pci fx5200 card works fine on that same hardware when running xp. It seemed to be a problem with vista only. While trying to figure out what caused the blue screen I attempted t install vista with just 256mb of memory. The insalled would just run for a minute before causing a reboot.

yesterday, my 3.3 voltage was getting as low as 2.7 for short periods. I also was noticing my harddrive stopping and starting(I could hear it). It would not crash my system. but everything would lock for a minute. This morning I replaced it, all is well.

That laminate flooring is great stuff. It is cheap and easy to put together, just a few snaps(no glue) and your done.

Thanks, breaking even is ok. On the plus side, I have built up some inventory: harddrives, dvddrives, modems, powersupplys, and three laptops. They are just used laptops, but I figure I can get about $350 each for them.

ya, business is pretty slow, on paper I am just breaking even. Everyone is happy, and I am getting refferals, so long as I don't destroy any laptops trying to open them I will be doing ok. Come January I will have a half page ad in yellowbook. I am pretty sure I should be getting much busier.

Thanks guys for the compliments :-)

Since it may be a year or so before I rent a commercial space to run my computer shop, I built a new workbench in my house. It is large enough to run my workstation, reload three computers, and take one laptop apart simultaneousl(hopefully I will need all the space). It is very tall, I want to be able to work on stuff standing up with out haveing to bend over(hurts my back). If I feel like sitting, I am going to get some high bar stools. It is strong also. I have both a 2x6 and a 2x8 spanning the distance. You can jump on it and it barely moves. this is my during contruction picture, it is ve

Trying To Connect Pc To T.v.
shanenin replied to StealthG's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I use this place to buy all of my cables, I actually purchased either a 50' or75' in the past to do the same thing you are doing. Here is a link to the 50' . I am to lazy to pull mine out and measure it, but I think you can go 75' without losing quality(I think that is what I have) http://www.pccables.com/cgi-bin/orders6.cg....com&rcode= -

Windows Explorer Quits Immediately On Startup
shanenin replied to allank's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
you could try one update at a time to isolate the bad one. -
I just installed vista build 5536 pre rc1 on my laptop. The laptop has a 1.5 celeron m, 768 memory, the onboard graphics is a radeon express 200m (it gets 64 mbs of shared memory). I am pretty amazed with driver support, everything including my wifi and printer were automatically installed. So far I have not noticed any bugs. Aero seems to run well. I am pretty lost, I am not sure where to find stuff. edit added later// I deleted my recycle bin, I am not sure how to get it back. I don't remember, is it possible to delete it with windows xp? edit added// found this

I would say the majority of the computer shops in my town are run by uncertified people.

what are you getting for $20, a screen or a linux cd? I must not have followed you correctly. By the way that sounds suspicious. I guess he may be trying to save a few percent by avoiding paypal, but I would not feel good about doing it.

You did not do anything wrong. You asked a legitamate question. As to nero, is thier an option to upgade it that will give you dvd support? thier are some free programs in this list http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4928

I like the idea of a good psu tutorial/guide, but am not a fan of stickys. They seem to leave a cluttered look, just my opinion.

A fiull version of xp(vista is probably similar) lets you change it from machine to machine. An oem or upgrade version are only supposed to be used on one mahcine, it can't be removed and installed on a different machine.

I like this software, it seems to work when others fail.

their is a chnace your powersupply is testing "ok" with a tester, but is still faulty. If possible I would try and swap it out for a different one. Deafgirl mentioned that heat may be a problem, install a utility like everest to watch the temps.

Formatting Linux Red Hat 8 (help Greatly Appreciated)
shanenin replied to JigsawCode's topic in Linux & Unix
You just need to format(unallocate) you linux partitions, then you can install windows normally. Either Fdisk or cfdisk availble on any live linux cd can do this. I think the disk druid program that comes with redhat 8 will also allow you to do this. If you need more specific instructions, just let use know :-) -
If you remove the actual lcd screen from the bezel, you should be able to find a model number. That lcd may be used for different brands in addition to ibm. If you search for the lcd model number you may find one much cheaper. I think they tend to cost more when you purchese the whole screen incuding the bezel. Your inverter probably is not the problem :-)

as to the lcd, you may just need to change the inverter, it is an easy job. I bought one for a sony laptop for just about $50.
