I have a widnows xp system which is blue screening and rebooting(it did not do it for me, but the customer said it does). It has quite a few problems, so I am starting off with a reload of the OS. I am pretty sure that will not fix all of their problems. If I goto system properties >>> startup and recovery , then check the following: write an event to the system log I also have the default dump location set to %SystemRoot%\Minidump (c:\windowsMinidump) Here is where I am unsure of what is being dumped. Should I be getting error code information that I would see with a bluescreen? Is

Computer Not Seeing Internet Connection
shanenin replied to fubz's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I tend to reinstall more often then most. If you are having multiple problems, sometimes that is the best route. You can spend an hour reinstalling, and end up with a a great result. Then again that might be overkill :-) -

Computer Not Seeing Internet Connection

the simplest way to see if it is software or hardware is to try and run a live linux cd. If the linux cd is able to get an address and surf the net, you can then assume windows is borked. The only negative to this diagnosis is linux may not have drivers for the card. But is it works with linux you know forsure that it is a software problem. It kinkd of sounds like a hardware issue. -
the question I am wondering is why it disapeared to begin with? Did some program or virus change the registry?

could they be in your trash? plug it in then check your trash. I think windows stores the trash files on the drive that they were deleted. edit added later// but I think by default windows will only use only10%(100 mbs) of your disk for garbage, not 37% that you have lost. -
Your ebay listing does look really nice, what do you use to build that? Does ebay offer tools that allow you to easily build a nice looking listing? One negative is the listing does not render properly with either firefox, or konqueror(linux browser). I does seem to work with opera.

Toshiba Laptop-disable Power Saver, Other Services?
shanenin replied to LiXindi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Since the laptop is already licenced to use xp, that would be your best bet. Linux is great, but for what you need it for, it would not be a good choice. -

no an oem disk is a very plain xp disk. It has only the drivers that come with xp, no extra. An oem disk may not even have all of your essential drivers. You still may need to download network(wired/wireless), video, audio from the toshiba sight. -

if you can get your hands on an OEM xp disk, use that to reinstall along with the COA(key) on the bottom of the laptop. That would be the best route, it would leave you with a very clean bare install of xp. If you are not able to get an OEM disk, I would check with add/remove programs to see if you can delete any unwanted programs. In all honesty, you probably do not need any of the toshiba processes(need is very personal to you). I have a toshiba laptop and do not use any of the original programs that came with it. If you leave them, I doubt they are using a whole lot of resources. -
Enjoy your time away from the computer :-)

Turns most vehicles use dot 3. The front brake pads went on uneventful(thats good). I assumbed I lost pressure do to not adding fluid to my master clylinder. Then as my front pads wore down, the fluid level would drop. None the less, my front pads needed to be changed, but that was not the cause of my sudden loss of presure. After leaving my master cylinder open, and compressing my front piston(to change my front pads) my rear cylinder gushed. I don't like to mess with back brakes, they are kind of a pain in the ass. So I brought it to my trusted mechanic. I hate paying the bill, but it is a n

that is a good suggestion. I need to buy brake pads anyways, while I am there I will ask them.

thanks for all of your input. Killbox seems like the easiest way to give a fix. I seems to reduce user error, and reduce steps involved to delete a file.
