Hey Marty try killdisk. Totally erases your drive. Use the free version, it'll work Mark Killdisk.com

I'm not sure yet if I entirely fix the problem. I'v been yelling at them to move their tower. They had it on the floor with the side off and six cats in the house. Can you say furballs? Plus the plug for the monitor was just barely finger tight with a lot of strain on the cord. As soon as they give me some money, I'm going to upgrade the memory and upgrade all the drivers and software. I'll tear it down at that time and reseat things and give it a thorough cleaning. All he does is blow air through the fans. He doesn't take the fan off the heatsink to clean out the fins and it's packed. Mark

Active Address Links In Ms Works Docs Lost
garmanma replied to ashwin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
It's been a long time since I played with Works and then it wasn't a lot. Are you using I.E.7? Is it up to date and fully patched? Mark works support -
They had an episode on Mythbusters where they compared the amount of germs breeding in a guy's mouth, a dog's mouth, the floor, and a toilet seat. The person's mouth had the most germs. Mark

I think I just found my new personal statement Mark
-
Did you try deleting all of them and then reboot and let Windows redetect them? Mark
-
So when can we make a personal statement? I have soo many important things to say Mark

Will do. It's going to be awhile before I get my hands on it.It doesn't bother her just me. A side note, I have no way of checking the monitor settings in Windows. There's no paperwork, manual or installation disk to be found Mark

I'd like some more opinions on this. I'm leaning towards a bad monitor. My daughter has a 4 year old LCD monitor. It's a cheap generic brand. I can't find any info on the net and their website is non-existent. When she goes back to use her computer after the screensaver has been running awhile, The screen is all distorted, not the screensaver but the desktop. I turn off the monitor and power it back on and it's OK. I've tried different screensavers. I'm going to have the unit soon, to do some maintenence and upgrade some hardware and software, and I'll update the videocard driver at that time.

My last pick up was a fairly nice, comfortable truck. If you're using it every day it might as well be laid out to your liking. Didn't even bother me that the 2nd week I owned it I put a ton of asphalt in it Mark

Maybe see if there are updated drivers for it at the mfg's site? What brand is it? Is it the only printer and set as default? Mark

My van is a 1 ton Ford with oversized wheels. I darn near need a step ladder to get in it with myy bad knees, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Mark

Hi Mark, I was also attracted to Linux because of its legendary stability. It is a very stable OS. I also like the cost factor, many exceptional Linux distros are free. I will probably buy a Vista box for my daughter in 6 months to a year, but, I'll let the early adopters find all of the bugs, and let the hardware vendors become Vista compliant. Yes, Linux can be hacked, but, it isn't as easy a target as Windows. Also, Linux distros are quickly patched when vulnerabilities are discovered. Kind of drifting away from the post's subject, let me ask you this. Do you recomend a firewall, anti

The version you're using is going to be discontinued. Go to the site Crrj posted and download the new one. Be sure to uninstall the old one Mark

Good idea. As long as you got it out inspect the entire board for cold solder joints and burnt or bulging resistors or capacitors Mark
-
The main reason I'm learning Linux is stability. Plus, I do not like the direction M$ is going with VISTA. You have to wonder though, as Linux gains in popularity, sooner or later there's going to be people learning how to hack it Mark

They're not all that bad. Every board out there has some detractors, some more than others. Personally, I'd never buy a PCchips board. Not even on a budget. Some people can't stand Shuttle, but I've never had a single problem with mine. I have an old Biostar I'm working on now. The BIOS got corrupted big time, but it was totally my fault. It's a good board Mark

LOL You and me both, man! I absolutely hate shopping, but, my wife on the other hand, she raises the art of shopping to an Olympic level sport. She loves shopping and is very good at it; she will examine many items and get the perfect buy. I know exactly what I want before I enter any store and I'm in and out in five minutes or less. My daughter seen a scary sight the other day. A U-Haul pulls up and parks in the Walmart lot and the whole family gets out to go and do their family shopping. Wonder if they were planning to fill up the truck Mark

Got me beat. Mine was an old '49 Ford flathead. Boy I wish I still had that car. Or my '32 Dodge Powerwagon, "69 Merc. Cyclone GT, plus my old '46 Indian. Why oh why did I ever sell them?

New Usb Devices Not Recognized
garmanma replied to psyk0tic's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
What is the brand of laptop and did you check device manager like Sethook asked? Look for any red or yellow exclamation points. Mark -
A couple more questions. Were the keyboards USB? When you tried the PCI card, did you disable onboard video in the BIOS and did you remember to turn it back on when you took the card out? Mark
-
That's a fairly new board. I would assume it has it's own built in memory for video Mark
-
According to the Biostar # you posted, the board has an AGP slot, at least that what it says on Biostar's site Mark

Kevin Rose on the Screensavers was always doing stuff with the Xbox. I remember nothing was ever simple. On one show, if I recall correctly, on the older units you were to solder leads off of the EPROM and modify the circutboard. He mentioned the newer models had removable chips and you could find modded chips online, but their were propietary and hard to find. I also remember after that episode the TechTV boards were flooded with posts "I modded my Xbox and now it won't work, what do I do" Kevin even said on the show"if your Xbox is working fine don't attempt this" Probably wouldn't hurt to t
