It seems to be Mozilla related. There are a couple post on Firefox's forums, though most are pretty vague. Mark

It was a sweet little machine for it's time. It gives me something to play with Mark

I forgot to say it but I did restore default settings. There is no failsafe option in the BIOS that I can find, it's an old Award BIOS. I found the flash update for my board so I'll give it a try. If worse comes to worse, it's a removeable EPROM and I found a site that will burn a new chip. If I feel real adventurous, I have an old EPROM burner from work if I can figure out how to get the info from the floppy to the burner. I haven't looked. Thanks Mark Shanenin- 256mb I figured it was enough to learn on before I upgraded to a primo machine

I look at it this way. The guy was smart and actually saved money by taking it to you first. Unless it's already loaded on the machine, most people don't know what to do or install. They wait untill it doesn't work and call Geek squad or if they're smart post to sites like this and learn what to do. That's how I learned. Mark

I let both my daughters have a resonable amount of freedom growing up. You learn by your mistakes. But I was always in the backround to make sure it was a learning experience and not something harmful. At the time they were both struggling for their independence and were not always happy with me, but they both tell me now they were glad I did. You'll be surprised how much you turn into your parents, the older you get. Just hope its soon enough to realize it and hug your parents, mine wasn't Mark

I'm setting up an old box to run Linux. It was working and running 95. I know the hard drive, floppy drive, and CD drive are working. I accidently used a Rawwrite floppy instesd of a bootdisk. I shut it off and now when I turn it on I get the BIOS beep, it starts the boot process, and then stops at verifying DMI POOL data. I've tried booting to the floppy with a bootdisk, booting to the CD drive with a Knoppix CD, and booting to the hard drive. I cleared the CMOS and still nothing. I'm just wondering if I trashed the BIOS chip. Any thoughts? I never flashed a BIOS before but I guess there's a

Reminds me of watching ANY episode of COPS Mark

I assume your 2K is a full install and not an upgrade. Back up any info you need to save, because it will be lost. You will need a bootdisk. You can download one at Bootdisk.com. Use the radified guide to FDISK and partition the drive. When done, set the BIOS to boot to the CDROM and insert the 2K CD. It will reformat and install the OS. Hope this helps Mark bootdisk.com Radified FDISK Guide

Being in the maintenence trade for over 35 years I can tell you nobody believes in preventive maintenence. They can use all the buzzwords, procedures, and blow all the smoke they want. Bottom line is it cost money and doesn't add money to the bottom line. If it is'nt in the budget too bad. I've literally welded bearings in place while the machinery was still running because they wouldn't shut it down. The last place I did work for was the only place that understood the whole preventitive/crisis maintenence deal. I was sorry to leave when it was time to retire Mark

My mom's in failing health. All she does is sit and watch TV 24/7. I couldn't have the set down for more than an hour without her raising a fuss. Had I known before hand that my wife bought the set, I would have had time to wire in a switch and jack. I'm fairly compitent(?) with electronics. I forgot I have an old VCR with Audio out. I'm going to see if that will work. Now I just got to get her out of the room long enough to snake speaker wire under the carpet Thanks Mark

In case you haven't noticed, a certain brewery ripped it off. Same music and lights. The house has Plank Road Brewery painted on it. Mark

I guess with the rising popularity of HDTV and home theater set-ups it's not a priority option anymore Mark

I thought my daughter's was a graphics card or driver problem. It would distort after a certain period of time and crash. She deleted a house(whatever that is) and the problem went away. I figured maybe a corupt file. So she went ahead and reinstalled the whole game. Mark

Yeah, I'm afraid I'm out of luck. I was hoping there was an inexpensive solution. This is what's on the TV: The plugs on the back are: S-Video In Audio(L/R)Video In-(video01) Component IDigital Audio Out On the front I have: Audio/Video In for a camcorder or a game consol I've haven't searched the hearing impaired site yet. I was going to try that today. Thanks Mark

Maybe uninstall then reinstall the games. Do it while offline with your antivirus turned off Mark

Are you sure you don't need to add any extra RAM? I'm trying to get my daughter's to work right I found some help on the forums at Gamespot. Also try the Sims site Mark Gamespot

OK, I'm not an A/V nut by any means. I just got my mother a new TV for Christmas. She's very hard of hearing so I would like to put some speakers by her chair. Not surround sound, just one or two of my old stereo speakers. The TV has a coaxial digital output on the back. Do I need a converter, pre-amp, or what? Most everything I'm Googling pertains to home theater systems. I really don't know what I'm searching for. Thanks Mark

Another thought. You might have OE 6 set to "text only" and he's sending HTML Mark

Random thoughts. It could be your ISP, his ISP, Either one or both spam blockers in the email client. Does this happen when anybody else replies to an email you've sent? If his is the only one doing this, It's more than likely on his end. Mark

What email client do you both use and virus program(email scanner) do both of you use? Mark I doubt if this is malware related, so look for them to possibly move this thread

That's pretty much been code for ... forever. My house is 22 years old and it's got GFI circuits for the baths and garage (though ... not in the kitchen ... Hmm -- I seem to remember something about too many false triggers in kitchens so they're not required there by code). I like the idea of whole-house surge protection, but the cost is prohibitive for me (parts & labor). At my old job I knew the electricians and could get work done by bartering ... no such luck now. I can do minor work, but rewiring at the breaker box? Uh, no. It's a good idea to check them evry so often. They DO

I just had to forward this to my old partner and my supplier Mark
