  1. Thank you, Shanenin. After reading several Google answers yours by far was the easiest to understand Mark
  2. I don't know about the losing the connection but that darn MVPs host file wouldn't allow me to connect to a lot of the tech forums that I go to. It is too restrictive. SpywareBlaster's protection works fine enough for me. That brings me to the next question, how to disable it Mark
  3. My wife's computer is hardwired to a Linksys router, using XP, Firefox browser, and Outlook Express. Whenever she starts or reboots the computer I have to reset her IP address. I got spoofed a few weeks back and after making sure everything I had on the unit was updated, I downloaded the MVPSHOST.bat file as suggested in the malware forum. I've readthe FAQ's from their site but I'm still losing the connection. Any suggestions Thanks Mark
  4. Yeah, it happened to me, I got spoofed. I should have known better. It just to show that you can never let your guard down Mark
  5. I agree. Many lawsuits are bogus. My point was, How many times have you seen multiple agencies agree on anything without public pressure of some type? I don't know about where you live, but here they can't agree on stop signs, railroad crossings, street paving, etc. let alone something as important as the subject here. Yes people need to be responsible for their own actions. I'm sure the climbers knew their sport was dangerous and they might not make it back Mark
  6. I know a lawsuit won't bring him back and I'm sure there were all sorts of caring and resposible people involved. But the different city, county, and state agencies won't even sit down to figure out something better unless someone puts a gun to their heads Mark
  7. Oooo! I forgot about that! A friend had his furnace go out, I loan him my new space heater. Months later he hadn't returned it, I had to go get it. "It's in the basement." Yeah, the damp, soggy basement. It's no longer a new space heater, it's rusted and dented. Grrr. I loan another friend my new folding ladder. Months later he hadn't returned it, I had to go get it. "It's out back." Yeah, out in the rain and snow. It's no longer a new ladder, it's corroded and has paint spilled on it. Grrr. I had a pair of jack stands with my name welded on them . My brother-in-law had them for so long he s
  8. It sad it always takes something like that to put things in perspective. I hope they're OK and pray for their continued good health Mark
  9. My dad was head of the guidence dept. for NASA/Lewis Research. He was around for the Tandy color computer. He was thrilled that he could program it and play hangman. I could only imagine what he'd think about today's computers. He'd probably never leave his office Mark
  10. I started the "no tools loaned" policy after years of getting them back(most of the time)in worse condition then when they left my shop/van. My brother-in-law was the worst offender. Thank God he moved from across the street. My kids, I have to keep reminding, but I think back to the days when my dad would be screaming after he'd run over a wrench while mowing grass Mark
  11. Rule #1 in the trades- Never steal another man's tools. We had a guy show up on a site once, with a whole bunch for sale. Each with different ID marks. He was in pretty sad shape when the cops were finally called. Sadly some of the biggest thieves on the site are fellow workers. I hope you nail him. Mark
  12. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. You can also use the box to try out Linux. That's what I'm going to try with the one in my closet Mark
  13. You could also partition and dual boot, or possibly try a DOS emulator Mark Sourceforge.net
  14. There is no real DOS in XP. I googled " XP and DOS" and got a few sites that might be of help. Mark DOS games in XP And here
  15. If you are on dial-up, you can order the SP2 CD for free from M$ Mark M$ SP2
  16. Does anyone have an idea about how many albums will fit on a CD? One of my winter projects is to burn all my old albums. My kids keep asking me what I want for Christmas, so I figured I'd let them get them. Thanks Mark
  17. I got stuck with Time-Warner when the government busted Adelphia. Thank God I still have Adelphia for a portal. I hope they don't try to incorporate AOL into it somehow Mark
  18. I agree with the Terroist about placing the plastic on top of the foam. While the foam might be made from insulated material, it is porous(sp). I use some surgical rubber matting I got from somewhere. Perhaps a plastic or rubber placemat would work Mark
  19. Everything seems to be working properly. Go ahead and close it out Thank you Mark
  20. I could reach the link. Do you have to be a member to access it? Mark
