  1. Well, I actually got it repaired. What I've learned for anyone who has a zoom camera, is they are more fragile than they look. Keep it in a case when not in use, don't bump or drop it, and the only thing used to clean it with is alcohol. No Windex WD-40 or silicone spray. Best of all is to keep it away from your kids Mark
  2. I don't do brushes, Spray gun maybe Mark
  3. You get a couple people who remember their old '72 pickup that they spent alot of money for and the bed falls off from rot after 2 years, they tend to be irrational. Not to say that they're right. I agree stupid people should'nt be rewarded for stupid things Mark Oh yeah, I almost forgot blazing Pintos, and I'm a Ford truck fan
  4. I don't use Outllook, but other than MS's site this one seems to be usefull Mark slipstick.com
  5. I just remind myself that for every smartmouth on G4 there are people Like Jeff, Matt, and others that kindof cancels their negativity Mark
  6. I remember about 30 years ago we had a record snow storm that shut down Cleveland for days plus a week of 0 degree temp. I'm in the middle of the drive in 5 feet of snow changing every u-joint on a 63 4WD Chevy panel truck. The darn thing was too big to fit in a garage. My hands were so numb, I don't remember how many times I smacked them with a hand sledge Mark
  7. Does anyone have any experience disassembling digital cameras? I've replaced an lcd screen and repaired a circut board before, but this one I've got to fix the zoom lens motor. I've found one sight. It's for a Canon, mine's an Olympus. Hopefully they're pretty generic. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on what to look out for. If I send it out for repair, I might as well add a few bucks and upgrade the camera at the same time, but I figure I'm not out anything if I try Thanks Mark
  8. My computer must be a transexual Mark
  9. I agree with the Terrorist, plus an extra battery would be nice in the old backpack. They're not cheap Mark
  10. Every once in a while I'll go to the G4 forums, read a few messages, shake my head in disbelief, and logout. Besttechie took over and became what the old Techtv boards were striving to become. Mark
  11. Jiffylube quoted me $55. I'm sure you know this but it bears repeating, make sure you use the type specified by your mfg. I know of 4 people that trashed their trannys Mark
  12. Kinda goes along with the Brawny paper towels website/commercial Mark
  13. Marty, Open Office will open MS Office apps. Mark
  14. Hurricanes and earthquakes come to mind Mark
  15. I believe if you use your mouse to right-click on the program, it will offer you the choice of "open with". You can make your selection from there. Choose select program and check the box that says "always use this program" Mark
  16. I just physically shut down and restarted and everything appears to be normal. Maybe it was just an XP brainfart. Sorry for the false alarm Mark
  17. I just finished with Microsoft Updates and went to restart. I got 4 different error messages saying the app. wasn't responding and I shut them down manually. They were, inCD.exe, DDE server, ml_online_window, and the letter (m). After ending the apps. and again trying to restart, I get a message "windows working on a file". I cleared all my temp files with ATF, scanned with Spybot, attempted to run AdAware but it hung up twice, and scanned with my av., TrendMicro. Any suggestions would be welcome. I really can't think of any out-of the-ordinary sites where I might have picked something up Than
  18. Quick check on the door seals. Use a dollar bill or a piece of paper. Close the door on the piece of paper. It should have some resistance when you pull it out. Try it in several places around the door. On my daughter's new Jeep, after poking around underneath the dash, I found out her heater hose was only half on. You didn't say how old the car is. The windshield seal could be dried out or cracked Mark
  19. My daughter has a friend in the Peace Corps somewhere in the Carribean. Phone service is $$$ and snailmail is almost non-existent. The friend is dying to hear her friends voices. Her father, after seeing her phone charges is getting her a laptop. I found in my misc. box, a Logitech USB microphone. Information I found so far tells me I just plug it in and XP will detect it. Do I need any extra software? I'm not familiar with instant messinger programs. I looked at her computer and AIM has a "talk" icon. Does she just click on it and start talking? Sorry for the dumb questions, I've just never h
  20. After just having mine repaired, I strongly suggest you wait until one of the techs reply. Someone will soon enough. It's a great help to have the experts look at the log and get a second opinion before you delete a bunch of stuff in the HJT log Mark
  21. I would like to express my thanks. Mainly to you, Steamhead. You were a GREAT help, but also to everybody on the boards that go out of their way to help people. I'm sure there's a lot of other things you could be doing than helping someone. I appreciate it very much.
  22. Renamed hijackthis.exe to HJT.exe. Ran ATF. Using I.E. browser right now . I cleared cookies, history and temp. files in Internet Options. I noticed Edwido still detects virtumonde. I'm not getting any pop-ups and the machine is running quicker and more crisp. A funny thing about Panda activescan. When the scan window opened up I couldn't get the window to maximize. The maximize button was greyed out, I couldn't drag the edges, and the control, shift, and x keys didn't work. I feel like such a dumbf**s Here are the reports Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 12:59:57 PM, on 7/8/2006 Pl
  23. Well, it sure does run better. I tried to rename hijackthis.exe but it says that file already exists. I searched for Hjt.exe and it shows a file HJT, ( not HJT.exe). It says the file was creates yesterday. I clicked on it and a DOS screen tries to open.
