  3. Don't forget the old trick of putting the hard drive in the freezer for a while. It really does work for getting stuff of a failing drive. One guy did it and was so happy with the results, he decided to keep on using it. Wouldn't you know 2 days later it puked. It will make a drive usable though long enough to back up data Mark
  4. Actually it was a Pringles chip can. They were going to try a different can, I don't know if they did. They had a show on the hacker convention. The location is always secret mostly on the westcoast. The name of the group escapes me at the moment. They were showing people picking up WIFI signals some amazing distances. Mark

  6. I remember the first time. I was buying a drill and the perky young lady asked me for my Golden Buckeye Card. I was only 40. My wife has never let me live that down. Now I use it all the time Mark
  7. Best dog I ever had was a white Belgium shepherd. He was huge. He would chase sticks until he dropped. His idea of a stick was the firewood I'd cut. If you were'nt careful, he come running up to you and take you out at the knees. I lost count of how many times I had to fix the rear door when he'd come running inside with a "stick" wider than the door Mark

  9. It's things like this, why I'm getting disappointed with M$ " I tried to play Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot CD. Whoops! Not a single sound emerged from my speakers. After a little investigation, I found that Vista disables media outputs that don't incorporate DRM, when you try to play DRM protected media through them. That was a kick in the head. I have a fully legal CD in my hand. Any other version of Windows will play it, Linux will play it, Mac OS will play it, and my CD player will play it, but if you're using S/PDIF for your computer-driven audio and Vista, you're out of luck." 12. We got hit for about 24 hours straight. Between the snow and the wind/drifting, it's up to the top of my doors. We'll have to climb out a window to shovel ourselves out. Glad I brought wood in the day before. On a more happy note, I guess this is one way to help me quit smoking. Mark

  14. One of my old bosses had one and I got to drive it quite a bit. It was a lot of fun. When he finally wore out the motor he put it in storage. I talked to him awhile ago and he told me he found a place in Florida the rebuilds the motor, with a warranty. He's thinking about it. Of course, he has the money to blow Mark

We've had a friend of my wife stay with us for the last 7 months(supposed to be 2 weeks, then a month, now-who knows?)
