  1. yeah, I know...G4 isn't the cool place to be but since more than a few of us lurk over there and in light of a couple complaints about their ads...here ya go...a quickie how-to. G4 is just an example but once you figure out the domain name for all the ads at the sites you frequent, your browsing can become considerably quicker and virtually ad-free. If you have the Adblock extension installed in firefox (and you should since it's a must-have extension), open adblock's list of "adblock-able items" and wildcard (*) these 2 domains like so: http://a248.e.akamai.net/* and http://oascentral.g4techt
  2. heh, people love sending me those links...I've seen that one and probably a good 5-10 others like it....I tend to stay away from anything that tells me to stare at it for 30 seconds now
  3. I'll agree that it's cool of B to be runnin' the site without support from ad clicks but if you have the adblock extension for firefox you can eliminate almost every ad from any site you frequent. gotta love the wildcard --->www.offendingadserver.com/* <---see ya, no more ads

  5. A) heh, yeah...the left is the one with the calluses on the fingertips and the right is the one with the worn down index fingernail from guitar playing Q) to spank or not to spank, that is the question...your children, that is...hahahahahaha
  6. Have you tried opening disk management?...The drive doesn't show in "my computer" but does show up there and you still have the option of deleting the partition and reformat as NTFS without the use of boot disks and partition managers Since I only use linux, I don't have the exact path to open disk management but it's something like: r-click "my computer">manage>disk manager (I hope that's it, anyway )
  7. heh, you do have quite the imagination, huh mac? Something tells me you don't see the usual bunnies n' s*** that most people see when they look at clouds My mother is convinced that He has a halo in this one
  8. not quite that bad Pretty sure he'll be wearing gear with that logo on it soon enough though
  9. thanks for all the best wishes everyone LMAO!!!! After yesterday's little worry and then seeing him on the ultrasound screen as a fully developed baby, it all seems like it'll be worth it...almost seems like I saw him for the first time since he still looked like an alien at the last ultrasound thanks again folks
  10. Hey all Just thought I'd bring up this old thread for a news flash. This Morning we had another routine midwife appointment and the little one had a somewhat irregular heartbeat (sounded like a gallop instead of a trot)...The midwife said it was probably nothing (yeah right, you try not freaking out to that) but better safe than sorry, so we had an ultrasound to check it out this afternoon...the little guy is fine and dandy, heartbeat was fine and everything looked good....and I stress that he is a HE now...as some of you may know, I've had my doubts from the images of the last ultrasound sinc
  11. That about sums it up for me too....School bored me to the extent that I stopped going. I always ahd something better to do and would usually drag someone with me that didn't have as forgiving parents about the cutting school thing In retrospect the "always had something better to do" might not have been better but it did give me plenty of free time to learn how to play guitar... I'll be damned if my kid is gonna pull that kind of s*** though
  12. All I found on .lpk was that it's an activex license package file...I would assume it's safe to trash it since it would be redownloaded anyway if needed.....I was under the assumption that FF didn't use activex anyway, hence less vulnerable than IE. I don't know why your folder would be empty if you knew you had been bouncing around the net for a while. Since you don't have these I think this is just a linux thing, but, when I checked my cache folder after using X, it did leave behind a few text files (_CACHE_MAP_, _CACHE_001_, _CACHE_002_), I bet something wouldn't work right if I trashed the
  13. Yeah, unhide the folder in folder options...it's hidden. BTW, I use the "X 0.6.3" firefox extension and that makes clearing privacy information easier than opening preferences every time and seems to do the job well and doesn't leave anything behind (that I'm aware of) I don't think it is available at the default extension source but can be found here....you can also get the xmirror extension if you want to add that site to a drop-down menu for extension sources. Oh, and I don't believe there are any index.dat files to get rid of and a quick tip: if you do install X, you might wonder where the
  14. One day, Pete complained to his friend, "My elbow really hurts. I guess I should see a doctor." His friend said, "Don't do that. There's a computer at the drug store that can diagnose anything quicker and cheaper than a doctor. Simply put in a sample of your urine, and the computer will diagnose your problem and tell you what you can do about and it will only costs you $10.00." Pete figured he had nothing to lose, so he filled a jar with a urine sample and went to the drug store. Finding the computer, he poured in the sample and deposited the $10.00. The computer started making some noise and
  15. An 80-year-old man went to his doctor for his annual check-up. The doctor asks him how he's feeling. The 80-year-old says, "I've never felt better. I now have a 20 year-old bride Who is pregnant with my child. What do you think about that?" The doctor considers his question for a minute and then begins. "I have an older friend, much like you, who is an Avid trophy hunter and never misses a season. One day, when he was going out hunting, he was in a bit of a hurry and accidentally picked up His walking cane instead of his gun. When he got to the creek, he saw a prime beaver sitting beside the s
  16. Man, now that I'm totally hungry Chili and Cheese goes great on a Hotdog...mmmmmm
  17. yep, sure is I don't think this is "suddenly". I recall this info being published quite some time ago...I think people took it about as serious as you do (and cancer rates keep going up) Hmmmm, what do I think?....I'd have to say I believe it. Will I continue to live the way I have?...Probably. In no way is this meant as a shot at you, bozodog, but alot of people out there might be asking their doctor or their God why they're dying of cancer. I think the medical community, while it does have its members that are out for fame and glory, also has many intelligent people with good intentions t
  18. heh, and to think I wanted a daughter...almost makes me glad that'll I'll be having a son. Then again, I'll have to worry about my son pi$$ing off all the psycho fathers out there when he acts just like his dad at that age and corrupts all the young ladies of the neighborhood
  19. 71!!!...nerdier than I thought
  20. heh, I'm just about as obsessive when a problem does arise, which fortunately doesn't happen all that often anymore but not long ago when I was a windows user, I used to love fixing problems, if not my own, someone elses....finally got to the point that there's a whole lot more I'd rather do with a PC than fix it... even if it's just watching a movie
  21. Jeesh hitest, throw a cheapy sound blaster in before shanenin has a google frenzy meltdown
  22. I was gonna post to this last night but didn't have time...glad you got your answer but I have a question. grub.conf does not exist on my system either (also ubuntu)...just for clarification to anyone else that may come across this thread....you edited "menu.lst", correct?
