  1. shanenin, actually, this happened in the past as well. I meant that the OS from the HD booted properly, but the Ubuntu install CD doesn't start before Windows 2000, and there is no visible sign on the screen to show how to change the boot sequence. But hitest, i'll go to the IBM website and see what i can find. I really do hate their website, so difficult to navigate.... :D

  3. Yeah, robroy was right....I think i just forgot that 1 IDE cable can connect 2 devices... :D. Good luck when you get your HD.
  4. Alright, so my father decided to let me install linux onto an old laptop, so i am trying to. however, i have hit 1 problem. I can't figure out how to change the boot sequence to tell the computer to boot from the CD. Its quite frustrating, because i click every F key and all i get is an error messege. Anyone have any ideas? By the way, the computer can boot into Windows 2000 no problem; i plan to dual boot. The computer is an IBM 770 Thinkpad. Thank you very much...
  5. You better read this Liz... I didn't post it for nothing! Ok.... This is really embarassing. Oh man, I can't believe I'm going to tell this... Ok, here goes... *deep breath* Well, we all know/knew N'SYNC the popular boy band. When they first came out I was probably (lets see) 12? and my brothers were probably 9? Maybe younger... Anyway, my brothers and I were fans of them, so we had their CD's and stuff, etc.. Well when they did that HBO show, we recorded it. So basically we had the whole show on tape. Then my brothers and I watched it god knows how many times...lol.. and we me

  8. well, it's a physical thing-open up your computer and find out. Think of it as USB, if you buy another USB device and have no ports for it, could you connect it? Yeah, works on the same principle...
  9. but, first please check if you have an available IDE port, because i think the limit on most mobo's are 4....you don't want to buy the HD and find out you can't connect it... :D
  10. wow...didn't notice those of's....

  16. Well, you could get a wireless router from linksys and only use the hard wired aspect of it, but still, that could compromise your security; I'd just go and pick up a 4-port linksys wired router, they are pretty cheap these days. However, Linksys is more expensive than the others; Netgear and D-link, as well as other cheaper companies, in my opinion are quite as good for the reason you want the router for. As for a firewall, regardless of a router or not, i'd suggest you use a software firewall to supplement your security. Some excellent (and free) ones are Kerio and ZoneAlarm.
