No Nic Card Displayed In Network Connections
murtu52 replied to nekton's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I believe the reason your computer speedily access http://www.msn.com and very slowly accesses www.msn.com is because of something called the URL searchhook. What this does is it takes the domain name (http://www.msn.com) and turns it into its IP address. I believe that www.msn.com first needs to be turned into http://www.msn.com before it can we translated into its IP address, so the more work for the URL Searchhook causes more time to be lost. Perhaps, i'm not too sure about this... -
I'll try that now....i'll post back afterwards. Will Ubuntu recognize FAT32?

Actually, one of the premiums for SBC yahoo DSL is eTrust AV. I use it, and i must say i am thoroughly satisfied. Running it in conjunction with ZoneAlarm, I haven't had any spyware/virus/trojan/worm trouble for a long time now....

Well, i'm pretty good with hardware (at least better with hardware than software), but as for distros, i'm totally clueless <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Once you've determined that your laptop will run Linux I suggest that you give one of the rpm based distros a try. Ubuntu, Mandriva or Fedora are easy to install and configure. The websites for these distros have a lot of support documentation; I suggest that you read up on how to install Linux, configuration, terminology, file systems. As you learn more you'll feel confident as you prepare to install Linux. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The

Hey murtu52, here's a link about Linux and laptops that may help you. Linux on Laptops You can check up on your laptop. Good luck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks...I think i'm abandoning my KnoppMyth project....it just won't work, and the harddrive i bought costs $100. So my dad said to return it, or fill out the $50 rebate (if i thought i could do it). We are going to return it ). As for my laptop, well, i still have hope for that .
