  1. hey....I sorry to say, i don't remember you, but i could have missed you when i was there....do you have an avatar? Maybe i can recognize that . Also, welcome! You'll like this board, its quite small, yet growing everyday .
  2. hehehe....stupid me. I misunderstood you. I thought wanted to switch the DC connector for the charger, not the charger port. Well, it'll be tricky, i'll tell you that much. Good luck.
  3. Also, if the plug isn't snug (i'm assuming the DC connector), just replace the DC adapter. No need to replace the AC adapter too . I'm pretty sure they sell HP power cords at local computer shops, if not there at HP themselves .
  4. Well, as you may know, I have now installed Ubuntu onto my laptop computer. I have looked on the internet, and i found out that i need to use ndiswrapper to use my windows drivers on linux. I am not sure how to do it, and after following many different tutorials, nothing works. Anyone can help me (from square 1)? EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention (to those who don't know) that i want to use my linksys wireless-B PCMCIA card on Ubuntu. It has a realtek 8180l chipset. Thanks...
  5. I'm sorry, is the problem that the plug is not "snug" in the laptop? Sorry, i just hate typos too....
  6. Way to go! Now, don't take linux the way I am....This is really giving me a headache! Take it easy and enjoy!

  10. excellent! Wow, I just wonder how they figure it all out....
  11. my deepest condolences....Be strong, and live the life for her, the way she would want to live....
  12. Have you tried updating to the newest version of MSN? Or is it possible this started happening after you downloaded the latest version? I use Trillian and I have no problems with MSN connecting through that. Might be your client. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and if that doesn't work, try reinstalling ZoneAlarm, something may have happened to it.
  13. iccaros, I have a WPC11 (i believe, ver. 4). Its a realtek chipset, linksys wireless-B PCMCIA card. No Wep, and i have a wireless router. Have any tutorials?
  14. well, thanks jcl, i'll try that out. But right now, I have different problem. I don't know how to set up my wireles card.... I have many things, used the resources from the other threads, checked debian.org and ubuntu's websites, still cannot do it. Does anyone know a good tutorial to set up wireless cards IN LAYMAN'S terms? Or, if anyone who knows how to do it can help me out personally? I read that my card's driver is found on Ubuntu's install, but whenver i try to follow the steps they give me it never works. Anyone have any ideas?
  15. alright, Ubuntu is up and running. I need to figure out a few things, though (it seems GRUB doesn't recognize my windows partition, and I thought about it and decided to just delete that partition and extend the current one/make a swap partition. However, I need a partition manager to do that, so I'm looking for one on the internet, which i don't have yet on my Ubuntu system. So i'm looking for tutorials on how to set up wireless cards ). Thanks everyone for your help, hopefully i'll be having internet, bigger partitions AND syncing capabilities for my old Palm 515 soon .
  16. Well it turns out that when i pressed F10/F12 a few times, and error came up. This error took me to a utility that checks the systems hardware, etc. Finally, i check the motherboard a few times and it came up as OK. So i pressed Finished. Then, it took me to the bios screen! i changed the boot sequence to CD, right now i'm in the installation process....Formatting is giving me some trouble, but i'll figure it out..... Thanks everyone, hopefully my next post will be from my laptop!
  17. he'll pop up soon, hopefully...
  18. I would also try using Google to find the correct key stroke to get into bios settings. Did you try F1? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've tried many of the F keys, so probably i have tried F1--But, I have just looked at the IBM site and it says that it F12 lets you choose a temporary boot sequence, so i guess i'll try that out now....Be back in a few minutes to tell you how it went...

I agree, too many people fall for these kind of things....Maybe we should publisise Besttechie and ASAP more, and also help with identity fraud protection....?
