  1. hahahaha! I take it you have never used full screen before. It confused me many, many moons ago on my ancient Gateway 2000 P160 (my very first computer). I didn't know what full screen was either or how to reverse it.
  2. Those remind me of here the previous few years at this time. Knock on wood these spring temps stay. Now if it just doesn't rain constantly like the past few springs I'll really enjoy it.
  3. mac would remember when i posted this image I created quite awhile ago. Looks like I wasn't far off the mark.
  4. Maybe there was an issue with the Bios on that board model?
  5. My Bios temp reading is the same as shown in Everest.
  6. Nice and balmy 67F today with a slight breeze from the north. Rain expected all weekend. Stay away snow.
  7. p----k ? Can't think of a suitable cuss word to fill that Give me a R > R, give me an I > I, give me a .....
  8. It's warmish but not terribly so. Low 50s would be pretty ordinary for the Thoroughbred version, and slightly high for the Barton version. Unless it goes up dramatically under load. When my 2400+ starts hitting 50C I clean the dust out of it. I am still running the stock heatsink and fan. My idle temp doesn't approach 46C until the 90F weather arrives. With 60-70F room temps my CPU stays around 34-38C. I have the sides of the case removed with an 80MM fan hanging off a bungie cord aimed at the north bridge seeing as it's 40MM fan expired and I have a 120MM fan blowng on the hard drives. The
  9. no, but wouldn't that be similar to the asus software I am already using? I wonder why their is a 15 degree difference beteen the readings my bio give and the asus software. I have no idea how the ASUS software works. I have read too many times that different mobo manufacturer' software is usually not accurate. Honda_Boy You should check the airflow in your case. 52C is high for an idle temp reading for the 2600+.
  10. This could be caused by bad RAM or wrong Bios settings for the RAM. Also try using the stock graphics drivers for that video card. If that smuda.sys is the correct spelling of the file you had better do a HJT log and post it at the Malware section. AdAware or SpyBot isn't going to help.
  11. I'll stick with my nice and sunny 60 degree spring day. I actually dusted off my bicycle, aired up the tires and went for a ride today. After the initial shaky start and needing to readjust the seat it felt great. I'm glad we only get 1-2 weeks of 90+ degree days here.
  12. If you use another firewall disable the XP firewall. SP2 automatically turns it on. If you have no other firewall you will have to configure the XP firewall to allow your connections. As for Microsoft Windows Updates. http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/...t.aspx?ln=en-us
  13. Have you tried Everest? That CPU should idle at 34-45C with a stock heatsink depending on internal case temperature.
  14. In console try the command uname -a or cat /etc/issue
  15. Used to should be the word. XP handles memory much better than 9x/ME and newer programs aren't that prone to memory leaks. I still say use Mike Lins program though because I have found some programs, such as Registry First Aid, will re-enable themselves after unchecking them in msconfig. Using Startup Control Panel assures that they won't do so.
  16. If you use IE-Spyad with SpywareBlaster it is recommended by Eric Howes to not enable SpywareBlaster's Restricted Sites option. His IE-Spyad program uses SpywareBlaster's definitions plus many others and places them in the same area. Just enable all of the other sections of SpywareBlaster.
  17. You can disable MusicMatch's 2 files from the Startup list either with msconfig or another Startup app like Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel. There is no need to uninstall and reinstall. MusicMatch does not need to startup auotmatically for it to function.
  18. ati.sys is a problem with your video card. Check all of your connections and cards. Reseat all of them. With only 256MB of RAM use the Performance setting so you don't have all of XP's visual crap slowing it down. Run Error checking on the drive. Did you defrag after loaing all of the programs and updates?
  19. I still think he ate too much of his Easter rabbit. Either that or he sniffed all that black ink.
  20. When you make changes in your Bios are you pressing F10 to exit and save the changes? If it isn't saving oyur changes then the battery may be going dead. Highlight each of the Master and Slave of IDE0 and IDE1 by using your down arrow key then hit Enter. You should have the option to Auto detect on all 4. That's the way my Award Bios is setup. Make sure you press F10 after making all of the changes, select Y and press Enter.
  21. Your IDE cable for the DVD and CD drives may have just gone bad. It isn't unusual for that to occur. Try another.
  22. If you plan on using the DVD burner the most make it Master and plug the end of the IDE cable into it. The cable has to go 0on in a certain way. If it is a flat cable you will see a red stripe on one edge. This red stripe neeeds to face the 4-pin power supply connector. Set the CD burner as Slave and plug it in to the middle of the cable, red stripe facing the power plug. Make sure the IDE cable connectors plug in exactly. You should see a nob on the connector that lines up with a notch in the drive.
