  2. Did you do a Repair install through the Recovery Console or did you just reinstall over the old install?
  3. It is against forum rules to help you in bypassing your parent's settings. You would need to address the issue with your parents.

  5. Usually this is caused by a virus/trojan on your system. I would download, update and scan with Ewido then save the log generated and post it with a HijackThis log here Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs. Read the directions before posting a HJT log. How To Post A Correct Hjt Log.
  6. I'm running a 2400+ (stock settings) with 512MB of RAM. I have Xp Home running quite well. There are a few items that JSKY listed that can be disabled in Vista so it will run better at lower memory. I might be able to recoup a couple of dollars by selling my MSI MX4000 T-128 to someone local. I bought less than a year ago. It's a shame Vista won't run with it.
  7. Cool! It brought it down to $163. I like the fact that someone has it working with Vista. Now if nothing unforeseen crops up I can order them next month. Maybe they'll even be cheaper. Everything that matches on ebay costs more. There are a couple sticks of Kingston 512MB that I may be able to luck out on and get cheaper.

  12. If you have the Google Toolbar check to see if it's popup blocker is stopping the links from opening in a new window. Also try right clicking on the link(s) and select open in new window.

  14. Run command is missing from the Start menu. + Right-click the Taskbar and select Properties. + Select Start Menu. + Click on Customize. + Click on Advanced. + Look for a check box for Run command in the option window. Check the box.
  15. What is the file? If it's an image file you would use your burning software to burn it to disk. What are .bin files for?
  16. No purchases. I had a customer pay his balance so I put the money away for my future upgrades. First purchase will be a DVD burner and DVDs so I can burn the Vista ISO to disk. After that I need to get a larger hard drive, better video card and another 512MB of Kingston memory.
  17. I would remove SP2 then do a repair install. With the removal of so much malware plus Norton and Windows Defender the registry may be totally corrupted. I don't know if even chkdsk and/or sfc could fix it.
  18. I would try: How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install. You would need to redownload WinXP updates. The only other thing I could think of is to disable the WinXP firewall and use one of the free ones such as Zone Alarm.
  19. Internet Options > Advanced tab > Uncheck box for Reuse windows for launching shortcuts. If that doesn't work have you installed any new programs or toolbars recently? Have you scanned for malware?
