If you have fairly boring hardware you shouldn't have any problems. Bleed-edge hardware and bargain hardware are what give you trouble, the former because it takes a while for support to appear in the Linux and the latter because cheap hardware is often dysfunctional or terminally uninteresting and therefore hard to support (or more accurately, it's hard to find someone willing to support it). A good way to check your hardware for compatibility is to just download something like Knoppix and see if it works. And if Knoppix doesn't work it's quite possible that it's just a quirk of Knoppix.

There are a lot of seriously messed up people on the G4 boards. Some trolls like to hurt others just because they can. Why indeed would anyone target Pete? He provides a lot of help for newcomers and advanced users alike. I've always been impressed with his level of knowledge.

Hi, I really like Thunderbird, it's a great open source e-mail client put out by Mozilla. You can download it here. Thunderbird supports multiple pop accounts and also has powerful junk mail filtering. I highly recommend it if you're interested in an alternative to Outlook or Outlook Express. Very easy to set-up.

Hi B. I'm the author of the word thread that was locked. I have a small request/ suggestion. Would it be possible to unlock the word thread and maybe increase the server capacity at BestTechie.net if there is a slow down? I post regularly at Leoville and there are threads that exceed 1600 posts. I can understand if a thread is locked because of improper content/ spam.
