  1. Power supply failure, all every case I've witnessed, will NOT affect other components
  2. Yeah, I've got either a 17" 5 year old Gateway monitor or a 17" new Dell one The Dell one is from my brother's laptop setup in college (he ended up just docking it into his TV since it had a VGA input so he didn't need the monitor anymore) which is most likely the one I will use I have plenty of mice rolling around at home, but I do need to get a new keyboard, so I'll most likely just order that with the motherboard and processor
  3. Thanks to everyone on here (particuliarly Honda Boy and IEatHardDrives on the video card) for helping me narrow down my list of parts! Here's what I've ordered thus far: OCZ Peformance 2 x 1GB Western Digital 250GB SATA-300 eVGA Geoforce 6800GS NEC DVD Burner LITE-ON DVD-ROM Spire Hard Drive Cooler $593.78 so far... --------------------------------- Cooler Master Centurion 5 w/ 450w Cooler Master PSU $65.00 from my boss --------------------------------- To be ordered: AMD X2 3800 ASUS A85-SLI Should be about $500 Estimated Total - $1158.78 Let me know if I've forgotton something, or if you hav
  4. I was going to say something, but I'm pretty sure /\ covered it all!
  5. DRM's are enough for me to quit buying Sony, now all I have to do is check the back of EVERY DVD and CD I plan on buying for Christmas presents.
  6. Since when do water and electronics not mix?
  7. Nevermind anyways, by the time my dad made up his friggen mind to order it all, the eVGA card went out of stock
  8. It's no problem, thanks for all the info. I'm am going to go with the eBGA 6600GT since this PC will only get it's gaming use for 1 year so I'm not too worried about having an outdated video card 4 or 5 years down the road
  9. Couple of years ago a kid hacked, well he didn't exactly have to hack since the school's website editor password was the mascot!, into the school's webpage and put up a confederate flag, some racial slurs, and sexual comments about teachers Ever since then we have to sign like a 10 page contract type form every year about internet use
  10. Allright, I'll put up a post when it gets built (which could be anywhere from next weekend to post-christmas)
  11. Ok, sounds good enough. I'm just going to check newegg 1 more time for anymore deals on video cards If I see something good I'll post it up Also, my Dad just asked if Newegg will ship everything at once, or separatly, just wondering if you knew Updated - eVGA 128-P2-N368-TX Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail for $125 and XFX PVT43GNDF3 Geforce 6600GT 128MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail for $130 Anything worth jumping on? (I promise I'll stop bothering you soon)
  12. Thanks for the thought, Just out of curiousity, what's your opinion on nVidia vs. ATI? Is it really that big of a difference
  13. Alrighty then, I'll have to print off the price list ($1205.90) for my Dad whenever the Bears get done beating the Packers!
  14. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THAT'S SO STUPID, PEOPLE LIKE THAT NEED TO DIE
  15. The thing is I'm leaving the PC with my parents when I go off to college and they wanted something reliable to last them over the years. I want something to use this year, I do a good deal of multitasking for work with the Adobe Pagemaker/InDesign while running Photoshop simultaneously. What's your thoughts between the Leadtek and PNY, I've never heard of Leadtek, and the only difference I found was the PNY has 128MB 256-bit GDDR3, while the Leadtek is 256MB 256-bit DDR. However, I think price might override getting the PNY for $30 cheaper
  16. Can agree A LOT! We had a girl screw around with security restrictions on XP on classroom computers where it messed up the network logins. Our computer "expert" at school refuses to reinstall Windows to fix it where multiple users can log on so there's one login (the teachers) with a crap load of files strewn around
  17. I don't see myself (or my parents for that matter) playing Quake or Doom I'll probably play BF2 or Call of Duty I just saw that with XP Home there's a Combo deal for a Leadtek PX6800TDH Geforce 6800 256MB 256-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail at $189, ($20 off regular price) Is that any good, or is it unneccesary for my needs
  18. Okay, I read that it DOES support AMD X2's, which is a must, but it doesn't have FireWire or SATA2, so I might stay with the ASUS But, what do you think about the Video Card, that is the one topic that I'm not too educated on I just need something good enough to last for a while (won't be OC'ed, but will be used for a little gaming) and around the $150 range how do this sound? PNY VCG68128XWB Geforce 6800 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - OEM www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133155 $160 after rebate
  19. Check the drivers, you never know If you do decide to buy a new one, I really like the Linksys WRT54G
  20. It's apprectiated, do you have any others?
  21. I was referring to the specific board and card, not the brand names ASUS and MSI
  22. I have no intention on getting SLI on this system, I just like the ASUS board and the MSI card
  23. 24. It's never the kids who know anything about computers (most of the time) who are messing them up, it's the idiots who just figured out you can use google images to see some porn pics
