  1. You could also get a program like Mirage which automatically unarchives the games before you play them, then archives them back when you close
  2. thanks Marty, I just finished tonight's project the "Bud-Night-Light" Just dremeled a hole into the side of a bud light bottle, ran wire to the neck, 3 led's (white, blue, and green) point upward and look nicely on the wall. I may post a pic, it's not worth its own thread All I know is that I will be using my lit-up alcohol bottles for some easy birthday presents! Update - the Bud-Night-Light is no more, tinkering with it and broke something. I decided to scrap it and chalk it up for education
  3. I don't have trouble with motivation - it's the inspiration - I'm banging my head trying to figure out a new project

    Cheap Led's?

Anybody know where I can get cheap LED's (other than eBay of course) I'm looking to get 100 for $10 (w/shipping) so, if anybody knows a good site with pretty good selection let me know!
  5. If only I had the need for a lab power supply - then i'd be all over this. It's good to see another familiar face in this corner of PC Support
  6. I cut off the end of it, stripped it, and soldered it, you can use anything like a cell phone charger or what-not. I also recommend you learn how to solder, go to radioshack and spend 15 bucks for an iron and solder - it's not hard at all
  7. That's actually how I got started into the lighting thing. I wired in blue LED bars under my dash boards. Now I have those 2 bars and and orange LED dome light set on my interior lights so they turn on when the doors are open or when I lock the car. I also have another blue bar under my back seat, a white light on my amp, and a black light between my 12's (in a plexiglass box) - all are set on a switch up front. The switch itself is even cool - It's alongside my actual car lights, and when I turn on my circuit the end of the switch lights up blue. This, as I mentioned in the past, is what
  8. what do you mean my "cd hider" - what are you trying to accomplish?
  9. My brother was always the creative one - but he knows nothing in the world of electronics/computers. He'd be making crazy Lego castles and stuff - I'd make a perfect cube with each side a different color. When he comes back from college for a visit I'll have a surplus of empty bottles to put lights in! Speaking of ghetto - today at school this other kid and I put together a futon without all the parts. Some rope, screws from school desks, and a roll of duct tape later - that baby was better "n"-rigged then it would have been in the first place
  10. Loving that thing, I ended up getting some $80 dollar unit with a bunch of accessories, then bought a $20 kit with even more stuff I'm still working on cutting a good circle though - I've been practicing with CD jewel cases and there's plastic all over my floor now
  11. I was interested in the Whiskey Bottle PC on metkumods, had a little free time, and felt like playing with my new dremel so ... I decided to make a light up Jack Daniels Bottle. It was very simple, and it resembles something you'd see in a bar/nightclub setting. For those not familiar with Jack Daniels (this is a front shot of the completed project - notice the wire running up the bottle): My Power Source AC converted to 9 volt current - found this adaptor in my closet: First I dremeled away at the surface of the bottle in an attempt to drill through the thick glass. After a while I realiz
  12. Anytime that you can NOT register a program you've purchased with the program's company, it's pretty much gauranteed that it's an ILLEGAL copy. slightly
  13. Ouch - definitly won't be doing anything like that I knew something had to be bad, I just hate having to pay so much for programs
  14. You never know, it could be worth trying a new NIC card - they are cheap Elsewises it's your ISP
  15. Check your ethernet drivers - unistall it, and reinstall
  16. Hello, I received another one of those E-Mails promising cheap software and just-for-kicks (and to test my antivirus) I went to the site. Decent looking page with extremely cheap software (i.e. XP Pro for $65 (I got XP Home Retail direct from Microsoft for $69 in the past) I'm mainly interested for Adobe products (mostly InDesign) I'm guessing these are bootleg? Nothing is cheap for a reason... so, what's the worst that could happen? HERE'S THE LINK Here's the site
  17. You can't keep kids from messing around with settings - that's the only reason I learned how to fix computers (from breaking them)
  18. Leaving for class in 10 minutes and heading to Home Depot afterwards - and I'm going to get the corded set with as many accessories as possible for $100 Let the modding madness begin!
  19. so that's 1 for corded, one for cordless - and no i don't own a chainsaw
  20. posting from my cell phone. i will in cordless unless there is some fabulous deal on a corded THANKS ALL!
  21. Already got oil in the garage I'm on a quest to mod every computer or electrical thing in the house
  22. Had to post this in PC Support because I only trust you guys around here AND this will be mostly be used for computer based jobs so without further chatter... Have $100 to spend tomorrow on a rotary tool - most likely getting a Dremel brand one. I plan on getting corded just because I can get more accessories with the cost than I can by getting a corded one alone. What accessories are totally needed for computers/hardware modding/basic electronic jobs I for sure want to get a circle guide, any recommendations for something available from Lowe's or Home Depot? Thanks!
  23. I know that drives use different lasers to burn discs then they do to read - maybe it is like that for dvd's o your's In the past I've seen a dvd burner drive that read and burnt everything except it could not see data CD's - it took a reload to fix it... good luck
  24. Okay, I've got my system set to turn off the monitor and hard drive in 1 hour after being idle. The only problem is now I've got a bright blue nightlight (plus the four green lights on the fan controller) lighting up the family room at night. At least now my dog has a nightlight (of course if you knew of my led posts over in modding you'd know she has had led's strapped onto her collar )
