Thanks for the update Respite care sounds necessary but not something to look forward to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Respite_care Respite care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home.

I said this a long time ago (In the gas price thread I think). It takes over a gallon of gasoline to grow the corn, harvest it, process it , convert to ethanol and distill it . But that is not the worst of it, since ethanol has a lower energy density than Octane; by making gasoline 10% ethanol you actually lower the mileage by up to thirty percent (the more advanced engines do better but all get a lower mileage with gasohol than with pure gasoline). I too found one local station which still has non ethanol real gasoline; and I get twenty percent better mileage on the gas I get there than th

I think I know what you are going through Joe. A couple years back I thought I had heart trouble (angina) since I had been to doctors who had diagnosed me with everything from GERD to Cholesterol problems and acid stomach. In the end , the Cardio Vascular specialist asked me "What side do you sleep on?" "Left" I replied "Sleep on your right side for a week and let me know if the pain improves" he said "You have bursitis in your left shoulder. Did you ever injure it?" I then remembered that when I was five, my sister shattered my shoulder and collar bone with a cast iron fry pan, and I spen

My first thought would be some dvd slideshow software (like a vcd slideshow but for DVDs) and then combine the two projects. I remember one VCD slideshow software I used had the option to set the slideshow to automatic or click through; or was that just turning off PBC on my player that enabled that? Been a long time since I bothered.

Yep, its that or get a video editor like tmpgenc and go in , select a single frame and save it as bmp.

Luckily I have a king sized bed and understanding OL who loves the dogs too. This morning I woke up and could not move. I had the Jindo pressed against one side, Ridgeback against the other, and Shepherd on my legs. A true Three Dog Night. Sturdy bed frame is all I can say. I have four cats; one a thirteen year old grey tabby likes to curl up on the Sable shepherd because he thinks he is invisible there; as if she grew a hump on her back and no one will notice. My Female Lab Rott suffered from separation anxiety when she was younger. Leave and she would panic and tear something to shreds (

My voice mail is simple "If you reached this I did not answer my phone. I do not check voicemail so do not bother to leave a message. I have caller ID so if you do not have your number blocked I will know you called me and when. If I know you or get bored I will call you. If it is 2AM I will return the favor in 12 hours when you are asleep."

If you close opera and it is set to clean your private data and it goes about deleting things and you then decide to open opera and it is still at work you will get a warning about opera already running and please try again later. Other programs will do similar; but not firefox. If it is still running doing something maintenance wise such as installing an update or cleaning your private data , or downloading something in the background and you close it and then change your mind and re open it; it will instead of giving you a warning just create a new blank profile with default values. Often wh

And do you know what probably made that registry entry go missing in the first place? CCCleaner.

Yeah, I saw the "Snowing in New Orleans" on the morning news. Same storm blew through Dallas Tuesday Night. It was sleeting and snowing for a while, and we still had traces Wednesday morning. The dogs kept insisting on going out to play in the strange stuff falling out of the sky was and then bark cause it was cold and come running in with a layer of snow flakes on their backs. Shake it off and then once they warmed up want to go right back out. The cats all new better, they came in and found nice warm places to curl up and sleep until this morning when it started to warm up. Still nothing l

Definitely at this point assume it is malware until proven otherwise.

I think Santa would have a heart attack if my Rhodesian Ridgeback jumped into his lap. But my OL objects to allowing any of the dogs get into laps. I can understand it since the smallest weighs 60Lbs (sharpei mix) and the biggest at 125 pounds could knock you and the chair over if he decided to jump into your lap.

Turbotax, taxcutplus ? Something like that. Used to fill out and electronically calculate and submit your income tax forms. They use a bizarre copy protection scheme to keep you from installing the same copy on multiple machines and it has been known to cause these errors. But if she cannot update antivirus my next guess would be a virus and you should post on the malware board to get clean before we proceed.

Hijack.userinit just means that something added an executable file to the userinit entry In your case it was twext.exe http://www.threatexpert.com/files/twext.exe.html In your case it is the same infection detected as backdoor.bot http://research.sunbelt-software.com/threa...threatid=175491 Spyware.agent.h is also known as backdoor.agent.h http://spyware-wall.com/view,spywareinfo,2739.html http://www.spynomore.com/trojan-backdoor-agent-h.htm In the past, you generally had to open an attachment, or download a file to get infected. Then came the worms which would search the web for computers wh

Deleting Temporary Internet Files
Pete_C replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
http://majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=c...5&Itemid=25 "ATF-Cleaner.exe was once upon a time just my personal temp file cleaner. There became a need for a good temp file cleaner that could do the job safely and without removing files that are crucial to windows, so I decided I'd share it with the public." ATF is a new, freeware, temporary file cleaner for Windows, IE, Firefox and Opera with a simple, easy-to-use interface. The main screen allows the user to either clean all temporary files, or select files for cleaning. The program also knows -
Well, there's your problem. Actually it almost does sound like an issue with a "clean temp internet files when closed" and a setting related to checking the cached copy of the page before opening the new one. It almost sounds like you have CCCleaner to clean your tracks and this is interfering with the browser (slowing things down as things have to wait while cccleaner deletes the file) Of course it could be another case of cccleaner deleting a registry entry it should not have.

Deleting Temporary Internet Files

Agreed, I have seen many cases where using CCCleaner messed up a machine; often to the point of making it non bootable; I have never heard of or seen a case where ATF Cleaner did that. -
http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.php 0x0000004E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT This indicates that the memory management Page File Number list is corrupted. Can be caused by corrupt physical RAM, or by drivers passing bad memory descriptor lists. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms793247.aspx Describes the meaning of the four parameters accompanying this stop errror Cause This error is typically caused by a driver passing a bad memory descriptor list. For example, the driver might have called MmUnlockPages twice with the same list. So, it is most likely a bad driver. http://support.microsoft.com/search/

I think what I like best about MBAM is that like Mcafee stinger and Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool; it is basically small and simple; that and the fact that it creates a good clear log which even if the user forgets to save a copy is easy to find and read. Always nice to see in plain text just what a program did so if needed it can be reversed, and what it tried to do but couldn't so you know what else needs attention.
-
True, and you'd be working around bugs in a program that shouldn't exist in the first place. So true indeed; but unfortunately the bugs do exist and all to often are ignored.
-
MBAM is also much newer thus the popularity differences. Nonetheless, MBAM's detection rates are much better (higher) and definitions are constantly updated (multiple times a day). It is by far the most advanced anti-malware application on the market to date. B Yep, popularity does not necessarily infer quality or competence. Just because everyone is doing it , using it, or likes it does not make it best. Spyware blaster / spyware guard work by using one of scissorhands favorite tricks, editing the registry . They place known bad sites in restricted zones preventing them from being able to

Shanenin: I didn't have to use sfc, but was able to fix the problem. I will post the LINK to the Fix I posted in the Malware Removal Instructions for WinAntivirus 2009 - using these instructions put the taskbar and startmenu in good order in ten minutes!! Thanks for all the Help and encouragement Team Brian Your link did not work for me (kept saying I couldn't edit the thread ) So I presume this is the fix you refer to http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php...mp;#entry121871 1. I agree that in most cases there will be no problems. But anyone who actually spends time dealing with malware infections soon realizes that there are so many more places that applications place startup entries that they must question the consequences of just unchecking the one program start entry in MSCONFIG when there are startup entries from the same application in many other locations. If the applications author did not take into account the likelihood that users would not read the help file and would not follow the proper methods laid out in tools/ options or edit / preferences of the

You do not want to do mac filtering; use the firewall. Mac addresses can be cloned or otherwise masked http://compnetworking.about.com/od/network...ddressing_2.htm so, mac filtering is pretty useless. Just use the firewall on the router to block internet access by that computer.
