Trying To Install A Program On Vista Laptop

The OL still has frowned on the idea of galumkies; she is not one to try new foods (Stubborn Italian woman). Still hoping to go for them some day. Other complication is that she no longer has teeth and hates wearing her dentures so most days food has to be soft and easy to eat without any chewing; stuff you could practically swallow whole and not have it bother your stomach or choke you. Still I have a craving for galumkies, pierogies and other different foods. All to often when I experiment she says "well you can eat that, I'll have pudding and whipped cream" http://www.apc.com/support/faq.c

Trying To Install A Program On Vista Laptop
Pete_C replied to CsrLiz344's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Well if you can install anything else, then the installer is fine. Could be you have an older version of the program which is not vista ready. Could be your install was canceled because something else was using the installer and you now need to use the windows installer cleanup utility to remove the traces of the failed install. Could be that you have antispyware or antimalware or similar "registry lock" which is locking the keys this program needs to access / change to install. Could be you do not have a full admin account or need to disable UCE, UAC, or DEP to install. -
Well it should be back to normal (the sixties by day, forties by night) here by sunday. I keep the house pretty well buttoned up year round; but when the weather is nice I open the back porch / screen door and bathroom window and attic / roof hatch. Get pretty good flow through ventilation which airs out the house fast. It is raining again today; so we are finally not in a rain deficit for the year (even after the last round we were still officially 0.25 inches below normal). Still cold, high today predicted to be 39-41. The Bermuda grass and St Augustine are already greening up nicely from th

We were in a drought having had less than half the rain we normally get for the last several months. The predicted rain earlier this week all seemed to miss us; but yesterday and last night we got a good soaking 3-4 inches throughout most of north texas. I think that brought us back to normal for the year. Surprisingly little runnoff compared to what we would normally have with a rain even of this magnitude. It is just scattered showers , very light today; but more heavy stuff predicted for tomorrow. Things are greening up here very nicely; but it is cold now (thirties, maybe forties ) but

Hey marty; best of luck If this is one of those "Statin" anti cholesterol drugs; make sure to take CoEnzyme Q-10 supplements (100mg or more per day). Co Q-10 is normally produced in adequate quantity by the liver; but these drugs suppress it. The result is muscle damage which can be excruciating and crippling (Hence the warning about report muscle pain or weakness to your doctor). Taking a daily supplement can at least minimize your risk of developing this side effect (left my father in law in a wheel chair till he died and nearly did the same to my wife who now has to take daily Q-10 supple

Dual Monitors In Vista ... Need Help!?
Pete_C replied to newsektor's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Here is my general guide to installing a new or second video card when you have onboard video. (note that much of this does not apply if you are replacing an existing card with a new card of same slot type) It is simplest if you have two monitors so you can connect one to each card. It is also simplest if to begin with you set the resolution of the onboard to 800x600 with 60hz refresh rate as this will be compatible with most cards . (See later about incompatible refresh rates if you skip this step). First install the new card in its slot. AGP or PCI-X is preferable if your board has them. If -
Yes I see the "Welcome" screen and it is blue haha. I hit the name button that usually boots the pc to the desktop. It says loading personal settings or whatever then it just immediately says saving personal settings and takes me back to the blue screen. When I hit ctrl alt and delete it just pops up a login box and not the task manager. Okay; that sounds like a corrupted profile Try this Boot to safe mode (when you first power on start tapping F8 once a second until you get a startup options menu and choose safe mode) If necessary do the ctrl+alt+del to bring up the login screen and login wi

Take care marty; best wishes and eat more cold water fishes.

Maybe if enough people go to google and search for test and click the link to google it will become number one.

Possible; but I have encountered this in real life with this malware / rogue infection (antispyware 360, MS antispyware etc; the current variants of the old Smitfraud (spysherrif , spyaxe, Winanativirus....) You get your welcome screen and then all goes black . By using task manager to kill it if it has already loaded and then to launch explorer.exe you can get to a desktop environment and run mbam to remove it (or at least most of it). Probably ninety percent plus of those who get this infection either catch it and do not shut down until it is removed or do not have an issue with restarting

IE8 is still not a final release it is still the first Release Candidate (RC1) This means it still has bugs and they are trying to get people to encounter them and send in bug reports so that they can figure out what they are and fix them before they release it to everyone. It is not as unstable as a beta release; but it is still not going to work for a lot of people. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-...upport/faq.aspx

This is a common result with this family of rogue applications / malware. If you do not give them your credit card info to steal they prevent explorer.exe (the windows graphical user interface) from loading. The solution here is after you login and get a black screen do a ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager If you see any applications running kill them. Next go file => new task type in explorer.exe hit enter. see if it loads your desktop now. If not again task manager and kill all running processes before you try to launch explorer.exe. If you get to your desktop, download and run malwa

My coffee is in front of me; only a half inch left in the 16oz mug and it is cold now. I guess that means it is time to decide what to make for breakfast. Whether to warm up some leftover sweet and sour pork (was it thursday or friday that I made it. Maybe I should just feed it to the dogs but it was good); or make a "breakfast jack" (more week day fare when I am in a hurry than sunday brunch) ; or breakfast taters ( I have a turkey keilbasa sausage calling my name ) .... It is a chilly day, so perhaps cheesy grits with onion , bell pepper, and garlic. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Marty have you optimized Vista yet? Turned off Aero, glass, whatever fancy effects it has by default on your stytem, disabled UCE and all the other crap that just slows everything down? Some suggestions here http://forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?t=103528 Another thing that could affect your scan time is the antivirus / protection you have. Are they different between the two machines? What about drive size, and amount of files? Number of profiles? Did you choose the quick scan on both? Ah, I see, the quick scan found nothing, the complete found zango. In the log (run MBAM, click the logs ta

Today she woke up first. But it was cold so the dogs did not want to stay out long even if they could. They kept trying to see if I could open the door into summer. After coffee and a blueberry bagel with cream cheese; the OL remarked that it felt like a soup day. So I asked how chicken and bean sprout soup sounded. Pulled a couple frozen split chicken breasts (bone in skin on ) out and put em in the pressure cooker. Added two cans chicken stock, two cans water, three by leaves and a bunch of garlic and put it on. As I waited in the kitchen , the dogs all gathered round to see what was up. Wh

Yep, it is the problem with McAfee's updater. It has a nasty habit of if it cannot connect to its secure server when you boot not allowing any connections and if it can't connect when you try to shut down refusing to let you turn off your computer. Best fix is uninstall McAfee and get something with a reliable updater

Power on the TV , set to morning news. This alerts the dogs that I am awake and will be out of bed shortly. Get out of bed and let dogs out (they will be ready at back door) Put on coffee, must have coffee. Let dogs in so they do not bark at squirrels or people walking dogs and wake OL up. Power on computer so I can get more information on what is covered on morning news and check email and forums .... Savor coffee, and begin thinking what sounds good for breakfast.

I bought a few of the C7 replacement (night light bulbs) LEDs when they first started carrying them at Walgreens, Frys, and Walmart. I think I paid $3.99 for a set of two (bought two sets). Brighter than a 7 watt incandescent and use 0.3 watts. I bought several different LED nightlights (same deal 0.3 watt) I like the ones you can rotate and focus best (use them to illuminate the spots on the floor where the dogs like to lie down and you trip over em if the house is dark so I do not need to turn on lights at night). Neat feature was the light sensor which turns them off when the sun comes u

Ah but Mac addresses can be cloned ; so a mac filter is pretty useless, they would just have to wait for the particular device to be powered off and login as its clone if that was your idea of security. Just enable wpa with encryption and use a good password.
