    Road Trip

Have a great trip, Hitest! Drive carefully, don't let the kids drive you bonkers and enjoy your visit with your Dad. Vancouver is beautiful (if I ever move to Canada, that's the spot!) Liz
  2. Viva Italia! Although saying that, I probably jixed the team and France will win. Liz
  3. Oh yeah, NAPA is wonderful! Before they sell you anything, they double check their "big book" to make sure you're buying the correct part (but I never just pick out the part, I always go right to the service counter and tell them what I need!). AND if you're a female, they usually install what you're buying, if it's a battery or windshield wiper, or gas cap...there are advantages to being a girl sometimes! Send your Mom Liz
  4. XX, do you get College credit for a History course if you pass the AP test? That's how it works in Michigan. If so, $90 is a bargain as most History courses are 3 credits, figuring $60 a credit at a Community College, more at the Universities. Hoping you pass with flying colors! Liz
  5. Daughter does a hilarious Christopher Walken impersonation about a "maaaaaaouse" and dog gone it, she's in bed, or I'd have her recite it and type it out for you! I take it you turned the maaaaaouse upside down and checked for gunk? I also think it's time to replace it, we had one do the same thing. In the meantime, here's a gazillion keyboard shortcuts, thanks to Handplane. Liz
  6. I grew up with a clock with a face, so first words out of my mouth were, "Digital....and Train Time?? I can't read either!" Like the part about setting it an hour off to freak people out Liz
  7. 90% and I'm shocked that I remembered all that, but like Matt, a lot probably came back to me when quizzing the kids for their USGovernment tests! (Mrs Patterson is the toughest teacher in Montague High!) Liz
  8. Wayddaminute, Hondaboy...CPU-Z? What's that? Can she get driver updates from the manufacturer's website, or is CPU-Z better? (Forgive me, Bree for letting me butt in, I've never heard of CPU-Z, and this old dummy is always trying to learn about this unfamiliar tech stuff ) Liz
  9. Hi Bree! I've read of videos/DVDs going the speed of a kid on marshmallows, and being fixed by updating video drivers. For some odd reason, sometimes brand new computers are shipped with old drivers. Go figure. I suppose you could always give that a whirl before taking it back? Liz
  10. What's this?? Whiskeyman/Terrorist's Birthday? Parrrrtay at the bar and cafe! Paper Bag and Beer keg turkey on the menu (ahem...was that keg I used rented? ) I'll be around a lot the next 24 hours to keep the dog company. Right now she's snuggled right up to Hubby (she wants the biggest human she can find) but tomorrow night, Hubby goes to work at 9pm, kids will be gone to the fireworks, so she'll be Momma's Dog. I don't dare leave the house! Liz
  11. It's at the very bottom of the main forum page, Joe. (I had to hunt, too ) Liz
  12. Good point and very true (yes, I read the sarcasm and laughed ) but one less entity to spread this stuff around. Now, if the house burns down I might be in trouble.....(the real important stuff is in a firebox, though) Liz
  13. Happy Birthday Terrorist! Have a wonderful day, keep the plaster out of your eyes, and have fun with the demolition! My favorite part of construction--well, the part I'm best at anyways Liz
  14. Seeing as this was on the news, it isn't gossip (I hope!) A woman sent her laptop back to BB for replacement under her warranty. A teenaged kid bought a computer and guess what? It had all her records on it! Luckily, the kid is a honest one, tracked her down (pretty simple when all one has all the personal records on one's computer) and told her about it. She had banking stuff, tax returns, the whole she-bang. And the broadcast reported of a second incident like that (cant remember the details because I was steaming by that point) but again, honesty overuled any identity theft and it had
  15. What a great story, Pat! I emailed the link to Son's Girlfriend, who plays Sax. She was in the school's Jazz Band, and I remember her saying that the director told them "to truly play Jazz music, quit paying attention to the written notes and close your eyes!" She's a BandGeek and I know she'll love this, thanks! Liz
  16. I grew up in a family with 5 girls, no boys-and we were "stairsteps", which meant 5 girls between the ages of 13 and 18 at one point. First of all, Shanenin, *hugs* keep repeating, "its only temporary, its only temporary". When Daughter was 12 and beginning her "Jeckyl and Hyde Phase", I reminded her frequently that she will be back feeling like her sweet self by 16--maybe mind over matter, but it worked! Compromise Plan--is there an option to get unlimited texting? Daughter has that with Verizon and its $10 month. Of course, make your Daughter pay for it Foot Down Plan--Ground her from h
  17. I'm thinking that your best bet is to 'fess to Dad, even though it likely isn't anything you did and not your fault, tell him those photos are important and that you're working on a solution. (you can even show him this thread!) Tell him one of the fixes is to try your Sister's laptop. If you're sincere in trying to fix the problem, he'll likely get you on Sis's machine. Good luck and hugs! Liz
  18. Hooray, you did it! Looks great, too. Liz
  19. Just as I thought, very well done! Thanks, Jeff Liz
  20. Oh, Canada! Thanks for being such nice neighbors and have a great day, eh? Liz
  21. Awesome! Thanks, Jeff and Pierce and welcome, Kyle Question: (ha!, I know...) I tried emailing myself so I knew what the message looked like and it didn't arrive. Is that something we can't do (email it to ourselves)? If so, what is the message? I'm betting it's very welcoming and well done, but Enquiry Minds Want to Know Liz
  22. Thanks, Terrorist and Inuyasha for the "Heads up". I don't upgrade drivers unless there is a problem (I know...shame on me, but if it works, don't monkey with it, right? ) Wondering, just in case Son decides to update the drivers without telling me beforehand....Inuyasha's second tip involves messing with the registry which scares me to death. Can the Update be "undone" with System Restore? Thanks, Liz
  23. Thank you, Handplane, great job, you are so talented! What would us graphic noobs do without you? Liz
  24. *click, POP, shhhhhhh* Liz
