  1. To his wife he said, ''Just in case you have trouble picking me out, I'll be wearing number 42.'' Love it! I've heard that he had a tremendous sense of humor. And thank you Mr Robinson! You DID carry a big stick! Liz

    World Facts

VERY interesting stuff, Marty and thanks! Emailing that to the kids! (who would WANT to own Antartica? ) Ohhh! From the Geographically Impared, Lake Erie borders Ohio! There ya go. Found one. OK, it's not IN Ohio but thats a mere technicality for the Geographically Impared Had no idea Malta was so small. I knew a former US Ambassador to Malta, seems a waste of taxpayers money for such a small country, but he was one of the nicest, down-to-earth people I ever met, so I guess he deserved a good job! 3. Happy Birthday, Hondaboy! And have a wonderful day Liz
  4. Lucky you, Jeff! Brand new car I take it? My first car was an ugly 1968 Buick Skylark which I bought for $250 around 1975ish. My Dad found it, his mechanic was selling it. I hated that car. It was completely undependable--probably why the mechanic was willing to sell it so he could finance a few vacations on ME! My favorite car was my Cavalier Station Wagon. It practically drove itself. And being a wagon, I could haul stuff! Liz
  5. *choke* just shot up to $2.98 up here today! Was $2.70-something yesterday. Compared to January, what is that, a 50% increase in 3 months? Liz
  6. Everything's expensive in California....sure hope your wages are higher to offset the high prices! Now I heard the reason for the jump in prices is that the weatherguessers are predicting a bad hurricane season, which makes no sense since hurricane season doesn't start for months...OK, as far as the oil CEOs go, it does make sense...to them! (of course the real reason is that travelling season is starting...) All I can ask is that everyone joins me in my gasoline boycott which I've been doing for a couple years now. It's impossible to completely boycott gas, but when you run errands, bunch as

    Hey Everyone

Hi Simon and Welcome to BT's! Come run amuck with us folks who haven't figured out how to use chat rooms! I'm Liz, married, mom of two in College (so I'm OLD!) and Sandydog, and freezing my patootie off up here in Michigan. Hope to hear more from you, chime in! Liz
  8. Will you marry me, Joe? We had......chili! Actually had a nice evening dinner planned (cause both kids had to work early) but Daughter had to go back to school early and Son's Girlfriend's Sister had a BABY yesterday! Girlfriend's Mom's afternoon spread got pushed to suppertime and he ate dinner there. Soooo, we'll have our big dinner NEXT Sunday, provided there are no more kinks! Son was in his glory, though....between the leftover meatloaf and stew from Friday and Saturday's dinner I sent back to school with him, and the leftovers from Rose's big dinner (she was expecting two more adul

    Auxiliary Power

Lucky you! I can't imagine being without power in this cold (our furnace is gas but needs electricity) I don't think our town has emergency generators or they would have probably kicked on when we lost power for about a week last summer. In our area we should have them, it'd be worth the extra taxes. Liz

    Barbeque Time

Terrorist will be shoveling, I'll be shivering! Just reading the warm weather folks' plans made me feel a little warmer, though!.....and hungry! And wishing all a Blessed, Peaceful, SAFE Easter! Cherrypick your favorites out of the jellybean bag! Liz
  11. Woweeee! Between Barb and Sultan's links, next time I need to buy something techy, I'm all set! Thanks, you two! Barb, the best thing about high speed internet is that you don't tie up your telephone! That is wonderful! When the kids started driving, I drove them crazy because I would say, "Get offline because your sister is out with the car and if she has car trouble or an accident (Heaven forbid) I want the phone line open" And that caused so many arguements because the kid online thought I was just an overbearing mom, and I sprouted so many gray hairs, because I WAS an overbearing mom I

    Where Is It?

Mark, you're scaring me. You're starting to sound like me. Bad thing, bad thing!! Notes? Nope, they all go on the counter next to the coffeepot. Now when I decide, "this item would make much more sense if it belonged here", Hooo, boy, guaranteed that the item will be lost forever. Been looking for my rope caulk for the windows since September (I broke down and bought some more). I *do* remember, moving its location made perfect sense at the time....but where did I move it to? Come on, my house isn't that big! Sings "Oh where, oh where did my little brain go, oh where, oh where could
  14. Happy 18th Birthday Xx and Happy 97th Birthday, Breen! (Breen, I think you cheated on your age! ) Hope you two have a wonderful day! Liz
  15. A belated Happy Birthday, Calusmar! have a great day Liz
  16. Pat inspired me to remember Freecycle, thanks, Pat! Liz
  17. Perhaps inquire at local High Schools and see if you can hang a "flyer" in the Computer Classroom? OR if there is a College nearby, their computer lab? If anything's reusable, a Student would figure out a way to reuse it. Liz
  18. Wishing you the best of luck, Hondaboy! Restaurant work is SO demanding and Retail is much easier. Liz
  19. I'm pretty sure Oakies have two tracks Liz
  20. I remember once when Sandy had a stomach bug and the Vet recommended Hamburger and Rice or Hamburger and Spaghetti until she felt better. This was shortly after we adopted this skinny thing and she flourished on this! Asked the Vet if we could continue just feeding her that and she didn't recommend it because it lacked all the nutrients of dog food, but a combo of the homemade and dog food would be ok. Symptoms of poisoning: Throwing up Diahar...diarah...oh shoot, the runs! No energy No appetite Significant increase in drinking water (reminder, they do drink more water this time of year as i
  21. No Mike, NOT IT Tech! But I have experts at my fingertips Mark, I think the Modem Helper was there before he took the idiotbox to school, so I think it was bundled with Charter Cable. And he lives off campus, BUT it could still be something to do with the College Network. I'll ask him Liz
  22. Jim, when Hubby "had the talk with Dad" (because he had to!), my Dad said, "Are you nuts? Are you of sound mind? You want to marry HER?? Do you have any idea what you're getting into??" Smarta$$ Liz
  23. Terrorist, he just replied to my email barking about startup items and yes, he HAS Quicktime, so now we know where that Apple thing came from! And I will tell him to get rid of Dell Support--he gets "worthless help popups" from it and has slow DSL so they muck up his surfing. Sending him the link to MikeLin's Startup Control for the startup items, too . He must be bored tonight or avoiding homework if he's fiddling with the idiotbox (cross fingers that he doesn't completely muck it up!) Thanks! Liz
  24. Wonderful news, Tyme and Mrs. Tyme! Looking forward to pictures and praying for a happy healthy new baby! (my bet? 7#6oz girl!) Keep in touch, you'll need something to do during those sleepless nights Liz
