  1. Hiya! The kids bought a Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHZ 54mpbs Broadband Router to use while they were away at College, and want to hook the computers up to it here while they're home on Summer Break. The CD got "something" spilled on it that wiping with a damp rag won't remove. I Googled and found This Link Now, y'know I know NOTHING about Hardware! Of course, I'm leaving setting up the Router to the kids, BUT is this link pretty much how to set up the Router without an installation disk? Or is there a simpler method? Should I call Linksys and get a replacement disk if that option is available
  2. *choke* $3.65 now. Happy Memorial Day Weekend..... Liz

    My Life

True words of Wisdom, Marty!! *whist Hubby is sleeping on the couch infront of the television....* Liz
  4. About the porn issue--does your neighbor have teenaged or adult childen who have access to the computer? If so, and especially if its rather hidden (like not on a desktop icon), you ought to maybe bring it to his attention with, "If YOU downloaded it, no problem, you're an adult-- just wanted to make sure you know about it in case one of the kids downloaded it" Just because if there was porn on MY machine (I certainly wouldn't download it!) I certainly would WANT to know so I could have you remove it, then reap havoc on the kids! Wait for the computer fixers to chime in on this slant as it
  5. Oh yeah, Joe, cars from about the 1980s on have computers in them. If you ever experience the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light, yup, that's the computer talking to you....a good way to test this is to put gas in your car and forget to put the gas cap on--the computer will flash that light the next time you start it. Put on the gas cap and the light *should* dissapear after a few starts *knocks wood*. Hitest, we have a 98 Malibu, too. Right now I'm mad at it. The durned "theft system light" is causing us to take the car in on Monday. Pain in the rear when one wants to go to th
  6. Happy Birthday, Neldy! And hope you have a wonderful day! (where you been, girl!?) Liz
  7. Fill 'er up, Papa! Just jumped to $3.49 up here (and it ususually goes DOWN on tuesdays!) Liz
  8. I had defrag problems with the Possessed Gateway and yes, try it in safemode first. If that doesn't work, turn off your virus scanner if you have one on that machine. If THOSE two methods don't work, control/alt/delete to open the task manager. End everything EXCEPT explorer and systems, then try it. Restart afterwards to turn everything back on in the task manager (number 3 was the only method that worked for me, but try it last) Liz
  9. The Bear has been spotted!!! He left a message at Drew's World and has been dealing with idiot box issues. Hopefully he'll check in here and see that he's been missed. Anyways, as I've been worried about him, wanted to let y'all know he's stressed out, but OK! Marco...... Liz
  10. I'm with many others....sticking with XP as long as I can because it works great for my needs. Daughter has XP Media Edition and I don't even like that as it has too many bells and whistles. Liz
  11. Welcome to the world, Wade! And sorry for calling you a girl! For some reason, when I read your post I thought it said "granddaughter"...re-read it, oops, remember, I'm old GOOD size for an early baby, though! Hubby had a beard when Daughter was born and yes, babypull-ups on facial hair hurt! Oh, you snuck in on me...Jaundice is common for early babies, particularly breast fed babies (85%!!). Glad the treatment is so easy! Daughter had to spend time in the "baby tanning booth" when she had jaundice, guess they don't do that anymore. Liz
  12. :D I don't have to tell myself I'm an old forgetful idiot....my kids do it for me :D And, yes, young'uns....it gets worse! Liz
  13. Happy Birthday, Brian! And hope you have a wonderful day, sure sounds like it is so far, what a beautiful card from your Mom! Liz
  14. She's gorgeous, Grampa Mark! What are the vitals, weight, length, NAME?? Congrats to you and Daughter! You know we'll be expecting more pictures now..... Liz

    Mother's Day

That is sad. I wonder if your teacher was a parent, JDoors. If she was, she would insist you make a Mothers Day card for your Father, because a Single Parent is both Mom and Dad. And your Father would have felt so honored to be remembered on Mothers Day. Liz
  16. And my favorite: My mother taught me about JUSTICE "One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you" My favorite, too!! Sweet revenge for my Mom giving me that "curse" (must be accompanied with a wagging index finger to work, though) Passing the torch Liz
  17. Hope you filled your tank, Dan....jumped up to *choke* $3.25 up here! Liz

    Hi Guys!

Hi Freakout and welcome to BT's!! You're in France? Wow, that's great! And as far as the dumb questions, don't you worry, I hold the record for dumb questions and you'll never catch me Jump in, enjoy and hope to hear a lot more from you Liz
  19. Happy May Day! *hangs a basket of flowers on the Cafe and Bar's doorknobs and runs away* Happy Birthday, MomHondaBoy, too! Liz
  20. Oh, wow, Bubbabob....remembering the '70's *ahem fake, what was that about anyways? I don't remember* "gas shortage", which luckily never affected me...... No gas outages here in Michigan...so far, anyways! *knockswood* Oh, GoodLord, Tourist Season is just starting, sure hope there aren't any shortages this summer! Liz
  21. Probably tree pollen, Shanenin. Looking at your record high temps on the Weather Channel (Minnesota--85 degrees??? Wow! Lucky you!) I'm guessing your trees are farther ahead than ours! Our maples are just beginning to bud (oaks are still bare) so it'll be a couple weeks yet for us. Liz
  22. Ohhhh, tree pollen!!! That stuff is the only time pollen affects my allergies. The wind picks up and our pine trees sends off poofy yellow clouds (literally, folks, literally yellow clouds!) I finally got smart and don't start Spring Cleaning till tree pollen season's over because I got tired of Spring Cleaning twice . Said a little prayer that you get a little rain to knock that stuff down, Pete! But I DID cut the backyard today for the first time this season, fed the compost pile with the clippings, and pulled probably 5 bushels of creeping charlie out of the vegetable garden. Too
  23. Yup. Funny, still seems like good ol' BT's, even though we're in Germany! Congrats, Jeff and Good Job! Liz
  24. Awww, Matt! You have a Sweetie Good for you and remember, she is always right! Liz
