New Install Of Xp Home Goes To Black Screen
blim replied to tman70's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Just in case because it happened to me and drove me nuts for a while..... You don't happen to have a forgotten flash drive plugged in, do you? Liz -
:D ......and here with the 22 mph I was expecting a Stoner Joke, so the ending took me completely by surprise!!! Liz
-
Sent off that joke to Sis and got this in reply Morris goes to confession and after the prelims tells he priest he spent the afternoon with 2 19 year olds in a motel. The priest says that's no way for a good Catholic to behave. Morris says I'm not Catholic. And the priest says then why are you telling me? Morris says "He!!, I'm 80 years old, I'm telling everybody"! Liz

Happy Birthday Mark! Have a wonderful day! Remembering Chinawht today, too Liz

Whoa, makes me thankful I've always said, "soap is soap" and never bought those liquid sanitizers, but forwarding the info on to my sisters who have lil' ones. Thanks, Liz

I've read about cooties having similar names to the "good guys" and folks getting in trouble with downloading the wrong thing. And Marty, now I'm still a computer greenie, but you did the right thing "going public" about that spoofed site. Your posting about it for everyone to read prevented someone else from dealing with a virus! I would have done the same thing just to warn others. Liz

Hi Edmandoo and welcome to Besttechies! The best thing you can do is to scroll down to the section on the forum that says "Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs", click that and read "How do I post a Hijack Log" The experts here will fix you right up! DO be patient as many of the experts are busy this time of year with Graduations and Final Exams, so they might take a tiny bit longer than usual to analyse your log and offer help, but again, they're amazing! In the meantime, look around, jump in, introduce yourself in Open Chat, laugh in the Comedy Club, and welcome to the BT family *waves at Mat

Exactly what Marty said! You can find MS's 1-800 number on their website. We had to call them when we reinstalled windows 98 and forgot to retrieve the product key number for MS Office (didn't realize it HAD one until it asked for one!) We plead "dumb" Liz

Well, that sounds easy, Shanenin! Dumb question time --I take it the file will "live in the computer"; should each computer have a router file living in it or is it ok to have just one computer owning the file? And yup, Joe, they have a password Thanks alot! Liz

Sent this to Daughter who has a Chinese Friend....and YES she really DOES talk like that! Daughter laughed hysterically, by the way.....and forwarded it to her friend...who probably won't get it! (Xian is a perfect example of blondes not needing yellow hair ) Thanks, Marty! Liz

To quote Bearskin, "this went through my brain sideways" but I'll ask Aron if he knows how to do this. thanks, Mike! Liz

Adding acetone to a cars engine?? Is that safe? Nail Polish Remover (acetone) is the best solvent for masking tape residue on windows, caulk on hands, anything "sticky and plasticky" and I'd be afraid of any plastic or rubber gasket/washer/connector/hose--thingies, etc corroding from the acetone. Liz

Just wanted to give you an update--we now have 3 computers hooked up to the internet, thanks to the expert advice from Joe and Shanenin! Joe, Aron DID have to use that alternate address you provided, so thanks! The kids are happy now AND I didn't have to lift a finger..... Thanks again. Gosh, I love this place! Liz

Happy Birthdays LCplMurphy and Cherokeechief! Hope you both have a wonderful day! Liz

I was lucky enough to get a Geek when shopping at Staples for a Wireless Card and he told me as far as Cards and Routers, Linksys was best, especially concering routers Netgear was second best Belkin was third The kids bought a Linksys Router and a Netgear Wireless Card and so far so good. Liz

So very true (times 8!) Copy, paste and pass around, thanks, Dave! Liz

Me too. Thanks to all our Servicepeople and their families. I salute you! Liz

:D Gotta get my "retarded parents who live in a tin can in Florida and go to the wrecked center" over here to read this! (my printer went to college with the kids--they're back, but the printer is still in a box) Thanks, Barb! Liz

Happy Birthday, Martin! Have a wonderful day Liz

Bah...Teletubbies have been doing this for years.... Actually, very fascinating article, Bozodog (I just couldn't resist the Teletubbie remark) Worrysome, though, knowing folks can be watching tv while driving...while eating a hamburger and talking on the cell phone Liz

With the upstairs pic, all I can say is "Boys!!!!!" Gad, I'm glad I only have one..... Liz

Congratulations to our BT Family HS Graduates! May all your dreams come true Liz

Yea!! Good!! Thank you!! *happydance* Yes, those directions do say to put http, etc in front of the address so the kids (NOT me NOT me NOT me) will do that. And when they bought the router I gave them the "security lecture", which Son said, "well, duh, yes Mom....." Liz
