  1. Hello Wayne, Not fair if he is, since I went to the trouble of trying to help him in spite of still dealing with a relapse of the flu. I suggest if it is the physical click in the mouse itself, like the click of the typewriter keys, that he either not use it while on phone, or hold phone receiver away from mouse. How are things going with you my friend, better I hope. Remember your board family cares about you. God bless everyone.
  2. Well to save you from being caught "multitasking", I will give it a shot. Have you checked Start, Control panel, Sounds and Multimedia? Check under both sound and audio? I don't have my mouse one on, so don't know for sure if this is where it changes or if it is under the Mouse settings. I have Windows 2000, so it may be different in XP. I hope that gives you a start to solution. Of course you could always turn your speakers down. HaHa! I very seldom have mine on, as I like peace and quiet. Ha! God bless everyone.
  3. Happy Birthday, and may you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and wealth. (and a good memory so you will remember to come back to the boards to say hi.) God bless everyone.
  4. Thanks for the information Marty. I wonder if this is the one that Intel warned everyone not to click on yesterday. My hubby forgot the name of it by the time he told me. Norton has sure been busy this week with antivirus definitions updates, so there must be lots of new junk from slime jerks cranking out more of the stuff that would harm us all. Check often for updates, do your scans, and stay safe folks. P.S. Either this flu bug is really getting to me worse than I thought, or the continual barrage by the garbage dealers of worms, virus, and trojans and the constant need to get updates to s
  5. wood...stockpile of wood for the wood stove for winter. God bless everyone.
  6. Happy Birthday, and may you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and wealth. God bless everyone.
  7. Happy Birthday Sultan. May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and wealth. God bless everyone.
  8. He may not be dead, just took to many sucker punches, and is down for the count. Hopefully he will be restored to everday life, once people realize the terrible loss to society without him. I think that the pendulum is swinging back, so it will soon be obvious that he is needed now more than ever. God bless everyone.
  9. First it will be a call center operator in North Dakota taking your drive through order, then maybe someday it will be someone in India? Has outsourcing gone to far? I think they found a new way to use all those call center (ex) employees who lost jobs from the no-call law. McWierd according to the Oregonian article I wonder how much more garbled a long distance call can make a drive through window squawk box? Will other drive throughs be outsourced? Such as banks? HaHa??!! God bless everyone.
  10. I think Windows Updates need Active X to work. God bless everyone.
  11. That's sure interesting. I did know some of them though. Surprise! Tell your Mom thanks from us. Finally found out what p's and q's really stands for, and wet your whistle. But oh my, Green Coke? Uggggggggh!!! That wasn't just a St Patrick's Day idea gone bad, was it??? God bless everyone.
  12. Happy Birthday, and may you be blessed with a long life that is filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. God bless everyone.
  13. I know how you feel, hitest. I just don't want to give up hope yet that she is alive somewhere and we will have her back gabbing with us someday. Maybe she just moved and doesn't have any internet access for whatever reason. She talked about that as a possible problem if she moved. Just keep praying for her (and her hubby) to be healed and for her to be back on the boards, and gabbing to all of us via PMs. I have heart flips everytime I get a PM on Leoville, before I find out it isn't her. I just so much want to hear from her and find out how she is doing. I agree the not knowing is awful. Go
  14. I did a Google search of Zimmerman Xylophones, and came up with this site of art work prints of the patents for two of his later ones. Clicking on them gives more info. Don't know if that is of any use to you. Zimmerman Xylophone Art Prints of Later Patents Will keep on looking for you. I hope you are lucky and find out it is worth a lot of money. God bless everyone.
  15. Yes I just sent her one too, and it bounced back. To her private email addy. I had another throwaway type one somewhere, don't remember where I have it written down. I guess I could try the one listed on the boards. I am not giving up on her as dead. Maybe she just moved, she had been talking of that before she went to the hospital. So if she moved, she would close that isp mail addy, so all is not without hope. To our friend Cris, if you are anywhere on the internet, send us a note here on the boards, or privately, that you are alive. We love you and miss you my friend. God bless everyone.
  16. I do not like these (spy) bots collecting information on us, then publishing it on Google etc. As I said in Marty's thread a few minutes ago, it is scary to think a stalker, or ex, anyone, could be collecting a dossier of info, including your public profile stuff, and bits and pieces of stuff we let slip in a post here and there over the years. Scary at any age, but especially for kids safety issues. Marty's thread about an email he got due to his having email enabled. I wrote of my findings on a Google search of my screen names awhile ago, on Marty's thread. Yes profiles were included. But lu

I would not have the email icon activated if I were you. Please read this thread of tenmm's to see why. Keep everything private that you don't want on Google etc. I Googled my screen names, while reading that thread, and found lots of my posts and others mentioning my screen name. (Of course there were some that were not mine, totally garbage stuff and are absolutely not associated with me.) On about page two of the expanded search, I found my profile here at Bestechie boards. Luckily it is the public one, and since I don't have any email or other private info on it, it was ok. Disconcerting b
  18. Hello Chappy, I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with your computer. I sure hope and pray that you get it to work right for you soon. All I can offer is my prayers for you to be able to get it solved. I don't know enough about these infernally complicated machines and operating systems to even know where to start to trouble shoot them. As for venting, that is just fine with us. We are all family here, so feel free to express the stress. Do keep us posted on what you do to solve it. And what happened just before it went berserk on you, so maybe we can avoid doing the same thing. I
  19. I didn't think you would have two antivirus's, but had to ask. So no new updates or anything to foul things up?...hmm. You know it takes lots of prayers to get anything Norton to work the way you want... right??? At least that is what I do for it!!!! Have you tried a reboot or two to see if it self corrects? Most of the time that works for me when it is giving trouble. And lots and lots of time before and after login after a reboot to give it time to figure out what it is doing. Or since you have XP, would a system restore work? I am not at all familiar with SystemWorks. Don't even know what
  20. What year of Norton do you have? Antivirus, or firewall seperately or Internet Security pkg? Do you have your manual for it? I don't see it in my 2004 antivirus or in the manual. Thankfully! As I detested it on my 2002 version, and had it turned off and just used the regular recycle bin. I see Avg on your desktop? You aren't running two antivirus programs at same time I hope. Though I dont see how that would be the cause of this problem. They could render each other ineffective I understand, or at least see each other as virus threats. Just a thought on that part. Have you checked the help but
  21. Me too, missing chinawht. I just hope and pray that she is recuperating and will return to the boards someday. I sent Christmas PMs on a couple of boards for her to see, just in case she decided to check out her PMs. I am hoping she isn't dead. But she was sure in bad health. Haven't heard a thing from her since Sept. Sigh!! I hope all is well with all of our friends, including Chris. (Maybe she moved and doesn't have internet service???) Anyhow I hope everyone that is sick will be healed soon. And everyone that is missing will turn up on the boards. Haven't seen Shadow Thomas either for awhil
  22. Teresa, or Sheila, or Patricia? Of course I am partial to Patricia, except I always was nicknamed automatically and eventually just accepted being called Pat as being easier than fighting for Patricia. Do consider whatever name you think about in regards to possible nicknames people will tag the person with. Also make sure not only the first and middle names go together, but that all three initials do too. Be sure they don't make a three letter name from the initials. Because that would end up the nickname probably at school. For instance Sheila Ann and last name started with M... so initials
  23. First welcome to the boards here. Glad to see you here. As for Dan's site? I don't know, but perhaps it has been discussed over on Leoville. I haven't been over there for a few days to see what's happening with anything. This thread might have some answers, or sign up and ask there if you don't get an answer here. Leoville thread about Dan Again, good to see you. God bless everyone.
  24. Welcome MadameX, to these peaceful boards. I hope you will like it here. We all sure do!!! And we are always glad to see new members. I love your cat in the paperbag avatar!!! My cat loves her grocery bag way to much, as she bites it and tears it up, crushes it and defies anyone trying to take it away from her. So we have to wait to change it out for a new one when she is sound asleep in a sunspot somewhere, or on the bed with the electric blanket on. Nah...we don't spoil her....yeah right. You are one up on me in regards to chatrooms. I have never been to one, or even really ever wanted to

Thanks for the information. I am so Not a gamer. Unless you count Yahtzee, which I can't even spell for sure. But I am sure with as many people on these boards, that there are people who actually translated your info. Me, well I just appreciate that you gave it. Now if someone would just direct me to a store that sells Yahtzee triple score pads. Ha! Seriously, we ran out of them on our vacation last fall. So improvised with the regular score sheets. I am just teasing you a bit. Thanks again for sharing the info. God bless everyone.
