  1. Apparently these guys were testing that theory...lol I remember someone asked awhile back, if this could be done with one of those little dorm fridges. It was answered that condensation would be too big of an issue to be practical. I'm betting this fridge is just acting as a case and not for cooling. Yeah, i remember someone once asked if you could use freon (spelling?) gas to cool the computer components by routing the tubes from outside to inside, etc., which was basically how a fridge works. Cold inside, hot outside. I think it would work, but using a conventional fridge wouldn't be the
  2. I guess i take this stuff for granted....my mom is a doctor, pediatrician (which is really good for me and my siblings), so she always has medicine on hand. Allergies, which used to give me bad headaches, aren't such plagues anymore because she could easily help me....And, this year, with the flu going around, my mom had extra flu shots. I didn't even take one (didn't need one), and my mom sold them to another doctor. Oh well, i guess i should follow my mom's advice, and become a doctor, so i can help others.

    About U?

Well, i know i'm not exactly the newest person here, but i haven't done this yet, so here i go: I'm a 13 year old boy (born 4/25/91) living on the west coast (Los Angeles). I don't know crazy amounts of knowledge about the computer, but i do know enough to get myself by everyday, and maybe help a person or two every now and then. I like computer hardware a bit more than software, but then again, computers aren't my biggest interest. I like to learn languages, i'm bilingual in english and gujrati (a language spoken in india, in gujrat, where my grandparents' fathers come from). I am currently t
  5. I remember reading a post some time ago asking the same question....Well, obviously if it gets to extreme temperatures (i'm talking under 200 Kelvin) the whole system wouldn't be able to run, so I believe eventually it'll be too cold to process info. However, until it gets near that, i think it is, "The colder, the better."
  6. sorry about that...I was kinda brain-dead at the time and didn't realize that dsl was damn small linux....Alright, i'll be sure to try it out....Thanks.
  7. Well, I wanted to see how far i had gotten with my learning, so i tried to make a quadratic formula program (in C++). However, the problem is, it is messing up (as always ). Here is the program: #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { int a; //Listing all the integers i'll be needing (can i lose a few?) int b; int c; double d; int d2; double x; double x2; x = (-b + d)/2*a; //Listing what the doubles are (i wanted to use doubles x2 = (-b - d)/2*a; //so i would know if it wasn't a perfect square). d = (b*-(4*a*c); //So
  8. Thanks....where can i get dsl from? Basically, all i want is the computer to be able to run a word processor and maybe even a decent C++ compiler. Even though the compiler isn't mandatory, i really need the word processor....
  9. True, but before they merged TSS's board and Tech Support together, it was crazy. TSS was constantly getting critisized because of its new cast (i mostly spent time learning/helping in the TSS board under the name of ssaifee786), but now that they merged TSS and tech support, and made another board for TSS comments, it is doing much better...
  10. Well, i finally pushed myself to consider putting onto a computer, however, last time i tried to install my knoppix onto the harddrive, it was quite complicated...So i guess i'm looking for a simpler distro. I have this OLD laptop that is just been sitting around for a long time (we are talking about a 486 processor here, with 8MB of RAM). It currently has windows 95 on it, and since i'm considering linux here, I was wondering if i could Damn Small Linux on it (It is small, i so it'll meets the space requirements). I am just worried about the RAM and processor, if it'll be able to run it. If n
  11. Well, thats what happens after a while....That is why i left G4TechTV's Tech boards. After people began to really make fuss about the merger, I stayed in there, trying to keep some peace there. But, after a while, it gets quite annoying having every other post something about the merger. So, i finally left...I'm glad, though, that i found refuge here at Besttechie .
  12. yeah, i have been playing so many games, my cousin (who graduated med school a while back) kept saying that since i play so many game, my hand-eye coordination is great, therefore i'm an excellent person to become a surgeon. Later he found out how shaky my hand is, and now he's having second thoughts....
  13. Sony....Yeah, i know they want their products to be the standard, but why do they name things "universal" if it only works on their products?!
  14. Thanks, just wanted to clear that up....I think i'm gonna need a whole lot more help if i'm ever gonna master this language....
  15. Well, I'm learning C++, and i am writing a program i saw on one of the tutorials. Basically, if you are younger than 50, it'll say you are young, if you are older than 50, it'll say you are old (I had to take out the if "age==50" to see if that was the problem or not; it isn't, and i don't want to put it back in because i'm afraid it'll mess up even more. Here is my source code: #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { int age; cout<<"Please enter your age \n"; cin>> age; cin.ignore(); if (age>50){ cout<<"You are old!\n"; } el

  18. Well, we can't rule it out COMPLETELY, because something may have messed up with the heat transfer from the CPU to the heatsink....its a possibility, but most probably something else is causing this....
  19. That is actually is very probable answer, since its been acting up since you put it together. Check the temp. on your CPU and other vital parts, that could be the answer. It could also be a faulty motherboard, but for now, check the CPU temperature.
