Looking For A Good Start Page
TheTerrorist_75 replied to novi's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
You had to do it didn't you Pat?! I decided I would have to figure out how to make my own start page. I started going through those links at PC World and said screw it. I searched Google and found the following sites dealing with HTML. http://www.pagetutor.com/pagetutor/makapage/ Popup blocker required! HTML tags It took me close to 6 hours to figure out what this HTML stuff does. This is what I came up with. I used Notepad and created a folder in My Documents to hold the .html file I created and the Picture I used for the header plus I saved my different links in .txt files to Copy & -

This is my home computer. I guess you could also say I use for "work". I have worked on quite a few WinXP computers that are formatted FAT32 and they all run great. Many OEM PCs that come with XP Home are FAT32. The only major problems I needed to fix on them is malware issues. The people didn't renew their anti-virus programs. They thought the version that came with the computer worked forever. I am amazed at how stable my setup is. I have had a crapload of programs opened at the same time for the last 6 hours and it didn't even moan. WIth only 512MB of memory on this PC my 98SE setup would h -

I am using FAT32 because I have a dual boot setup with98SE. This allows to to access either drive with the OS that is booted. The only issue I have had with XP was an update to Opera which I mistakenly installed to the wrong area. I really don't like this admin, all users and guest account crap. It would be alright if this was a shared computer and I was concerned about further security. I also look at it this way, if something happens with my XP setup I can boot to 98SE and retrieve my info on the XP drive. I need to buy a couple of new HDDs and set them up with different partitions, one of w -

XP works well with either FAT32 or NTFS. NTFS is more secure. -

The old man loans tools out to friends and then forgets he loaned them. I need to rent or build a new shop in a different location then lock it up. The only problem is when I have to do something for dad or myself then I would have to go to the shop and get the tools. He used to be able to get out into the yard and do some of the work himself but is to crippled up now. I don't think he has been out in either garage in a couple of years. I have been hauling junk out of them and creating a pile that needs to go to the transfer station. I have a friend with a stake rack truck to haul the junk awa

A couple lines of T storms headed this way. I finished dragging and carrying most of the limbs and vines out front. I found my hatchet and whacked the limbs off the tree that fell. My arms feel like lead. With the storms coming I can take a couple of days for my muscles to quit aching. I hauled about 2 pickup loads to the street. Once I cut up the main trunk pf the tree I can rake up that mess with the real small limb pieces and haul them up front. I can't believe that my wheelbarrow got loaned out and hasn't come back and dear old step-dad left my rake and hoe up to camp.

Start tapping F8 at startup until you get to the boot screen. Select Safe mode and if it gets to the Safe mode desktop open My Computer and right click on your drive and select Properties. Under the Tools tab click the Check Now button for Error checking. It will probably say it can not perform the action until the PC is rebooted. Reboot and let it run. See what errors come up. If that doesn't work reboot again while tapping F8 and this time selct Last known good configuration. -
I had that happen on my 98SE setup. I cut and pasted the folder containing soundman.exe from Temp to the Realtek folder in Program FIles after reinstalling.

Panda places of couple of files in my Temp folder. One time I deleted them and Panda quit working. I now create a different folder and move the files found in the folder to see if anything is affected. After a week if there are no problems I delete them. This may apply only to Security Suite type anti-virus prgrams. This occurred on my 98SE setup. I haven't tired it with XP. I'll let you know. No errors this time. It just recreated the folder.

I don't like using chemicals to kill plants. Too many animals around plus I am not supposed to handle it. I used to mess with different lawn chemicals for many years when landscaping. The doctors believe that is one of the many reasons why my liver was damaged. I thought I was indestructable and wouldn't wear gloves, safety glasses or respirators. I never considered that stuff dangerous. Even spray painting vehicles and equipment with epoxies I didn't use any protection. The only time I became concerned was when I broke a gallon glass jug of Carbon Tetrachloride in a closed room and passed out

It's down. Not even clicking on cache in Google brings up anything. The crappy webmaster must be thinking of new ways to infuse ads we keep showing everyone how to block.

I need a double mug of coffee and a bottle of Tylenol. I dragged most of the branches from down back out to the road for the shredder crew early this morning. All I have left is the stuff too long and the main trunk of one of the trees that fell over. Someone borrowed my chainsaw and it looks like they were cutting in the mud and rocks. The chain is bad and it doesn't want to start. I wish dear old step-dad would quit loaning out my tools. I can't believe how bad the vines overtook the old carriage house down back. My hands are tore up from pulling them down and cutting them up. Some of them w

Be careful cleaning out your Temp folder. Some anti-virus programs will place a couple of files in there to aid in there scans. Don't delete them.

I wish that I had opened a pizza joint instead of a bar. I just got done doing some major cleanup from this winter's storm damage. How can so many muscles deteriorate so fast.

Coffee smells good right now. I have neen able to leave the dog out the last couple of days. It is pleasant not having him bugging me every second. The yard is spotted with heaps of his crap piles. For a 70 lb. mutt he craps like an elephant. It is supposed to go up to 75 tomorrow. That will be the perfect day for cleaning the yard.

Flash Drive Me Compatible?
TheTerrorist_75 replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
To compare ME to 98SE is an atrosity. ME was a half backed OS that M$ id trying yo forget about. ME was ment to be a home version of Win 2000. Preston Sorry Terrorist - I didn't mean to compare 98SE to ME as far as quality (I hate ME, the ONLY benefit of ME over 98SE that I've ever noticed is increased driver support) My connection to the two OS's was ME being intended to be an upgrade of 98. How's your progress in XP coming along anyways? That was rhema7 dissing ME. I personally never had a problem with ME on any computer that I owned with it installed from the factory. I did prefer 98SE
