Did you install the motherboard drivers from it's disk? If the hard drive had XP installed on it previously did you do a repair or fresh install?

Why not use a separate hard drive. With my setup I use a custom boot floppy to boot into my XP drive instead of 98SE that way the boot.ini isn't altered.

No that's not RAM it is your pagefile. You do need more RAM if you are running Photoshop and other memory intensive programs. I run 512MB for just plain old surfing the net and using small time apps. BTW, Limewire is a good source of viruses and Trojans.
